The Thrill Of the Hunt -- TBCF Motivaction, Delirium Style and [Mirror's Enigma] + {{BSD Design Studio}}

My mother and grandmother both were world class shoppers. While it's true that men did a lot of hunting for families in eras long since gone, women have carried on the tradition, even if it looks slightly different than the hunt once did.

We would traverse the state at times if it meant we were going to get a good deal on something. One time, I'm fairly sure it was the Friday after Thanksgiving and the very last time I ever went shopping on that day til I was in my 30s!! we waited in line for 4 or 5 hours to get some discounted towels.

I think I may have been ten at the oldest, and really could not imagine why anyone much less the throng of anyones we saw that day would spend that much time and energy and frustration to buy a towel. I still don't understand it. It's why I will often say on or off line, "My shopping gene is broken."

I really just don't care to shop at all. To me, there is no thrill of the hunt. I don't get all excited if I saved 50 cents or 50% on an item if it takes me all day, a line of crazy people, employees behind the counter who really would prefer to be anywhere but working, and all the other noise that becomes the shopping experience.

I truly love blogging, however. There's a completely different thrill. It's like puzzle making. I get a bag of puzzle pieces and I get to decide how the puzzle will be complete. Most of the time, I'm showing you something I received like a child receive's paper covered parcels at Christmas. I have no idea what will be inside till I put it on and then style it.

I may have a broken shopping gene, but I love the experience of Second Life, modeling, blogging, puzzle completions. It's like Tetris or Jenga with a twist.

Dream a Little Dream of Me

One of the things I changed this year regarding my approach to blogging had to do with taking my show on the road. I did 90% of my shots in a studio environment last year and I got used to the clicks and the whirls and the buttons.

Needless to say, some of the places in Second Life are more open minded than others, and have all sorts of purposes. When I visit a place like I did this morning, and take snapshots quite close to those who are there for other delights, I often find myself in their heads and grin, asking myself unspoken questions, "What's she doing here?" I'm exploring!

So many things to learn, so many things to process and my thoughts get jumbly at times. That's okay. I say to this day that boredom is a sin and I have yet to be bored. This outfit was part of what I put together for a casting that required 'Urban' wear. When I wanted to photograph it, I sought out urban titles of locations. I love the adventure.

Thank you to Euridice Qork and all the people at Canary Models! I had fun preparing for the casting and happened to wear one of Dot-Be Fashion's outfits. I had no idea it was for a Dot-Be Fashion show! I had to shoot Boniefacio, one of the sweetest guys and great urbanwear designer, and tell him about the experience. I keep dreaming my little dreams, and walking through my Second Life with abundant fun. Isn't that ultimately why we're here?

Me gustó mucho conocer a todos en Canarias Fashion Model. Gracias por la gran oportunidad que la paciencia y la diversión!

And All I Gotta Do Is Open My Eyes and See Her - The Mystery Woman

I liked this song from the Allman Brothers, Mystery woman... and the line here "and all I gotta do is open my eyes and see her - mystery woman..."

Sometimes the things we need to see are right in front of us. It should be obvious but we're blind. In the US, we have a saying that's relevant here, "You can't see the forest for the trees." Maybe sometimes we get too close to something and miss it all together. I do.

At Model's Workshop this afternoon, Monica Balut offered part one of a two part class on Second Life Photography. I have been using the Second Life program since March of 2005 and I've looked at loads of tutorials and worksheets and videos, and I still missed this tiny little arrow on the basic snapshot window. When I saw that in the class, I realized that if I had missed that detail, there would probably be many other things I could learn from that class and anything else I attend because things are changing all the time and even when things stay the same, sometimes I miss the forest for the trees. A mystery to this woman... a good thing too. I love learning. Thank you Monica for the incredible amount of information you poured into your class tonight!
