I'm Talking To You - Featuring MADesigns, [Mirror's Enigma], Wertina, Ch's, and Kastle Rock

Sometimes I find an alter ego in the styles I create from designers who have a different point of view. This time is such an occasion. After a stretch of very fancy clothes, I put together this urban look, and enjoyed the change.

Do you ever wonder what your super power would be, if you got to choose it? Is your alter ego bolder, stronger, more intelligent? What's the rationale behind the whole super hero thing. Not only Batman and Super Man, Cat Woman and Wonder Woman... Beauty, Brains and Brawn...

I'm fairly sure the appeal of the Harry Potter series and the Twilight series and other popular bits of fiction comes under the surreal hope of an alter ego that wins those battles we otherwise know we'd lose in life. If we can't be Batman, maybe we can wizard our way out of something, or simply out live it.

Christmas is a special day and this season is special to me also. I still struggle with the stress of it. I don't ever quite get it right, and I wish I were this tough girl here, daring and bold, able to stand up to the stress, the people around me that make it sad instead of glorious, just once I do wish it.

I'm looking for the silver lining in a holiday season that's meant to be one giant silver lining. I think maybe we hear that on commercials and read it in fairy tales, though. Maybe the spirit that resides in us throughout the year helps us face all that we face, even in the moments that could overwhelm.

If you're stressed, misty-eyed with frustration or sadness as a relationship batters you about this season, take a deep breath, and smile. The only person I know I can change is me. I think that's an important point. Maybe it's the point of the novels, the fantasy, the things in our alter ego we wish we could do, and maybe it's not so bad to boldly pretend with a fiery attitude, "I'm talking to you..."

Old and New -- Featuring Rainbow's, Ch's, Sebastien's from J&A Expo plus ~ghee and Lupoaica

Each of us have our starting point somewhere along the continuum line of Second Life's existence. We began on x-rez day and we're here now. Some of us celebrate rez-days. Others like me have had alts, either ones put to bed in favor of another or multiples. In my case, my original Caryn avi no longer exists except on the hard drive of some old Linden Labs server. That's alright. She was my beginning and I began in 2005. I even had my own little business, first called Caryn's Creations (so original yes?) and later jes`Teasing.

I loved the creative aspect at the time, but Second Life and the education to create element was far shorter then than it is now. I acknowledge how hard it is to create, especially knowing I cannot do a lot of what designers do now, so when a new business kicks off, I want to support them. They're not all going to be on the radar at the same rate of speed. Some will stay small as jes`Teasing did, intentionally so, so I could do other things I loved on SL as well as create clothes. Just as we have a continuum of an SL lifespan, so do businesses.

I hope as bloggers or models receive items from a variety of businesses, you have the same sentiment that you may have when you meet a 'newb' SL player. None of us have to support every newb who comes into the game, nor do we have to feel responsible for the new designers, but when we can offer a little support, and pay it forward in essence, from everyone who supported us, life finds balance.

Just a little bit of extra zest helps a new designer find their place in the maelstrom of designers out there competing for the same sales. Sure we're going to have favorites and sponsors who have earned the respect we give them, but I think every season can be a season to also find new favorites, or help a new business earn it's respect too.

Comfort Food and Other Home Remedies -- Featuring The Orange Works, Ch's, Goth1c0, [F F], Dulce Secrets

There are times where it just isn't easy to get started in a new day. It comes. The sun rises. Birds sing and all the things that announce its arrival happen and still it's difficult to make yourself move. Pull back the covers. Turn so you're no longer prone and your feet are on the ground.

Eventually, I realize that I can't stay in bed forever, no matter how the day began or how I feel about attacking the day. Some need will overcome that first feeling, "I'm never getting out of bed again." It even sounds amusing as I type it, but these things really do happen, and eventually the day occurs.

On the days that make everything challenging, the days where you may have a cold or went to sleep after a really unsettling argument with a family member, I find some things help just a little. Gone are the days of a mother or a maternal figure hugging me tightly and kissing a boo-boo.

Still, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve that make the world around me a little bit better. Comfort food rates at the top of my list. I like spaghettios with franks more than any other thing when I don't feel well. I like it more than chicken soup. It's not that I dislike chicken soup. It just doesn't help fix me.

I have patterns of eating that relate to the medications I take. Other people have to be careful regarding what they eat due to things like diabetes or allergies, so even when food can offer comfort, it has to be done well or it could end up making a difficult day even worse.

I'm notorious for saying, "I don't want to be a grown up and make the right decision." when it comes to food. Actually, I say something like that when it comes to other choices I have to make when I don't want to make them also, so basically I don't want to make the grown up decisions. Period.

Food isn't the only thing I've learned offers comfort when life feels out of balance. I love a good hot bath. Every now and then, I stumble onto new ways to make it through the day. If you have something special that works for you, I'd love to hear about it and share it with our world we have here.
