La Traviata - The Fallen Woman - A Special Edition Complete Set By Chop Zuey

The music begins before the curtain rises. It draws you into a world not quite your own, real but also much larger than reality ever could be. People on stage look as if they'd been invited to a posh party, and soon you realize it is a celebration. A beautiful courtesan had been ill and now an array of people, friends, customers, even the more dubious characters, each take their place for this story beginning to unfold in La Traviata. It is a love story, a story of rank and privilege, a story of where we fit in our society, and where we do not fit. It's a tragic story of death and life, of love and love lost, and love found once more, before the final curtain falls once more.

A glorious Violetta, the pivotal figure in this opera, she is the fallen woman, la traviata roughly translates to the fallen woman. She lives in another time, a place far back in our history, and a season of life's evolution where women had few choices related to their place and station in life. A wife, with a husband, a master, a keeper, his child bearer, the one he depends on to bear heirs to his legacy... often felt as though they were locked away from the world in gilded cages. A woman of the night, the well trained courtesan, at the very point in history when some of those fallen women earned a sort of reputation that showed respect of a sort for their skills, oft sought out by the most prominent of men in society, also lived at the mercy and management of men. In either case, the women of this time period struggled to define self, to create a world they wanted to live in, and to be something beyond an appendage to a husband, father or lover.

Violetta's life volleyed between the two worlds, trying to do what was right, what was expected. On the one hand, she had wealthy men who came to her, different patrons who provided for her needs. She visited with the most notorious, the most renowned, but she knew her place. On the other hand, she realized there was one who saw beyond her failings, beyond the sin that marked her as la traviat, a man who would love her despite all she had done and all she represented. Violetta's world tumbled along, and though her story is set circa 1700s when the most powerful and beautiful courtesans in Italy ever plied their trade, it represents in some ways the same struggle for women in our current world, 2014. We as women jostle between expectations, polite society, private domestic issues, and frustrations leaving us often without answers, doing our very best to find our balance.

As I put the La Traviata Special Edition Complete Set from Chop Zuey on, the stunning jewelry, the elegant gown, and all the details of beauty that make this such a glorious design, I looked at the story for which the set was named and found a little of myself in Violetta. It's a design by Ms Belle that represents so much more than a pretty party gown or beautiful jewelry, an investment of historical value, and an addition to your wardrobe that's like nothing else you own.

Tiny Footprints -- Featuring !Lybra and Dulce Secrets From Tiny Footprints Charity Event

I was sure I was done with Halloween but with this terrific hat from Kylie Sabra at Sabra Style sharing her version of a Good Witch Galinda's hat, I had to don it for my photos last night. I've really just had a blast with all of your fun little things, all that you've created from cyborg eyes to creepy spiders to good witch's hats. Fun!

I have the second to the last item on today that I want to share from the week long DEbRA event. This dress from Lyrical B!zarre Templates supports the ongoing research and needs of the The Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Associate of America. You can read more about it and donate directly to the cause if you visit debra.org and hopefully you will drop by the event in world before it closes its doors tonight.

DE Boutique has new shoes, a selection of them including the pair seen here. I love the name of them simply because the name is long and complicated, Kirazissimo. It sounds like a friend's pet name, like Kira and bellissimo smushed together for the fun of it. For whatever reason, it doesn't change the fact that they're heels designed with a closed toe, simple and chic in several colors.

Dulce Secrets created a set of mesh eyes recently for one of the events and when I entered the word 'purple' into my trusty dusty help me make some order out of my inventory search button, I found them! So this is a rare time you see me not wearing the eyes that are traditionally in just about every style I create.

~ghee has some cramazing smash hot new tights they created for the recent AW14 fashion release and I've found so many uses for them. I got all 12 colors so I could mix and match and one was a deep purple suited excellently to add warmth to my look. Sexy. Practical. Super chic. Life is good.

My first pair of photos today show an array of all new items, some from special events, and others from events recently over but items I still haven't shown, and more.

-{ZOZ}- happily (to me) appears everywhere I turn and for this month's Instruments, they have a suitably scary set of nails - Ghost Girl. Boooooo.... Kastle Rock's Fabiana Dress comes from Designer Showcase, and though it's a spaghetti strap style, the colors are all autumnal and perfect for this time of year. The Kathleen heels from AJ Designs may be purchased at The Promenade.

Other items new to my blog include Syrenze red bracelets, h.m.a.e.m. unique hat and a new color of tights from ~ghee. When I put them all together like a puzzle, I had a great time. I hope you do also, and find a way to shop til you get every last detail that appeals to you.

Super SCARYN - Featuring Sabra Style, Dark Horse Style, AsHmOoT from the Promenade, !Lyrical B!zarre Templates from Four Seasons Market and Dulce Secrets from Designer Showcase

I just want to be a super hero. Of course, every good one has a great costume. A month of costumes, but today, I pulled on a collection of items from different designers and ended up with Super Caryn. Sabra Style's Old London Coat made a perfect 'super hero girl cape' for today. AsHmOoT created an entire outfit for The Promenade, and from the set, I pulled on their Coll boots and leggings. I'm pretty sure tights/leggings are a must for super heroes and boots as well. !Lyrical B!zarre Templates provided the skin hugging mini dress under the coat, with a bra and skirt and shear layer between the two.

I know heroines do not need to enhance their chest area to fight crime more intensely but I also don't know of a single one who doesn't do so anyway! At Designer Showcase this month, Dulce Secrets put together a box of mesh eyes. Not a soul in our universe has pink eyes that I know of, but to have pink eyes as part of the costume; that makes sense. Lastly, I have more nails to show from Dark Horse Style. Be ware, though. These nails have been treated with just the right amount of venom to render any criminal paralyzed long enough that I might capture them and bring them home to justice!

Chop Zuey sells something you want. I just know they do. I know this because every single time I visit, there are many somethings I want. From the very unique items that you might not ever even envision to the classic wedding bands to the casual everyday colorful stones sets, it's there. This Romance in F set is just one example. I loved the button style of the ring, so I turned it to the side and converted to earrings to add to the overall look.

The Most Debonair Character -- Featuring Lybra from The Month of Games,

I can remember the first time I played clue. It was with cousins and one of the cousins was a few years older than I and then her younger brother was my age. She had the game, and considered her wisdom at 14 to be worldly and elevated to heights we could not have possibly attained yet at 10 or 11. Then our mothers did that motherly thing and made us 'play nicely' together. That was good news for two of us, but the elder cousin was so miffed. I can recall her explaining with that huff that's only perfected around the age of 14!

It really was a sophisticated game, and a game for grown-ups. She told us that throughout the hour or so she was forced to play with us, and at that time, I truly had no clue what I was doing. Pun intended. I just remembered feeling like I'd reached a new stage in life. The game was about adults in adult situations in rooms that I'd never heard of, like a conservatory.

When I saw the gown from Lybra, all those thoughts came rushing back, as if they happened yesterday. The dress IS all grown up, sexy, classy, elegant and suitable to that image of one of the characters in the game. "Ms. Peacock, represented by the blue piece on the game board, is considered to be the most wealthy and debonair character in the game." Instead of taking the peacock literally and going in that direction, Lybra captured the essence of the original character, and modernized it to be a delicious evening gown, perfect for soirees, an evening at the Met or something else equally 'debonair'.

But even in the midst of family time and that all important binging, I like to make time to poke into our shared world in SL and find a new style in the mix and match of my inventory that showcases elements from around the grid, just like this summer look that seemed to fit the mood of a holiday weekend.

Lyrical B!zarre Templates has a great Sounds Rouge outfit and jewelry as well at Lyfe of Style's sale room, and in these photos I used the jewelry here. I took the glow off and added a little shininess to the objects to make them a little darker to suit the dark reds and blacks in the top and skirt - from AsHmOoT - found at Summer Fashion Festival. The new hair from Truth - Dasha - is one of those styles that I wear all summer long and made me think of home.

Always Classy, Always Sexy, Always Carrie's - Featuring Carrie's Lingerie, EMO-tions, SoliDea Follies

No matter where modeling takes me, or blogging or any other fashion connection, my first love of modeling came from Carrie's Lingerie.

It's raining hearts at Carrie's. Both down in the main store and up in the VIP sphere, hearts are falling everywhere.

Elizabeth in green, this satiny sexy new VIP gift, allures with both a lingerie option and an evening gown choice. Paired with new jewelry from Chop Zuey and EMO-tions "Love" hair, I'm dressed and ready for love.

As ready as I'll ever be, I suppose. Love is. It's a verb we all should do regularly. Not Sex. That's fun too, don't get me wrong. But love. That's the key. Back down in the main store, I have one of the Valentine looks from another season, an outfit that was loaded into the Mania board, Spicy Valentine.

Still wearing Spicy, I popped over to SoliDea Follies and found the cutest little head pieces, one a gift and another was a hunt item. Both were white and whimsical.

At Carrie's you'll always find a hunt or two in progress. I found a whole array of Crazy Hearts items hidden around the store in one of Carrie's in house hunts. Items for the men are always included.

Sensual yet soft and sweet, Carrie's goes with so many things. Take this cute tank from the Crazy Heart's hunt. I could pair it with jeans and boots and hang out with special friends or that special someone, or I could doll it up, and add the other head piece from SoliDea Follies for frolicksome fun.

As I said, Carrie's marks an important point in my Second Life. Before Carrie's, I played with the best of them, danced from time to time, flirted and met people all around the world. I managed a few small clubs and enjoyed but never really 'worked'.

After I began working for Carrie's, I found a whole new world, a world of people who put time and energy into a vein of interest I really didn't even know existed. It remains one of the classiest lingerie stores and one of the best customer oriented stores as a result of that personal customer service. Every time I visit, I enjoy the bright spirited Assistants, and of course Carrie too.

In every way, Carrie's offers such a special experience, for people on every budget, and during holidays, special favorites make their way into the holiday collections. Only a few designers contributed jewelry and a few did shoes. It makes sense, statistically speaking, because this breakdown of clothing tends to be a fair cross section of Second Life shopping. I even received a few men's items. It seems men must need to change clothing less often? or something!

There are times where it just isn't easy to get started in a new day. It comes. The sun rises. Birds sing and all the things that announce its arrival happen and still it's difficult to make yourself move. Pull back the covers. Turn so you're no longer prone and your feet are on the ground.

Eventually, I realize that I can't stay in bed forever, no matter how the day began or how I feel about attacking the day. On the days that make everything challenging, the days where you may have a cold or went to sleep after a really unsettling argument with a family member, I find some things help just a little. Gone are the days of a mother or a maternal figure hugging me tightly and kissing a boo-boo.

Still, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve that make the world around me a little bit better. Comfort food rates at the top of my list. I like spaghettios with franks more than any other thing when I don't feel well. I like it more than chicken soup. It's not that I dislike chicken soup. It just doesn't help fix me.

I have patterns of eating that relate to the medications I take. Other people have to be careful regarding what they eat due to things like diabetes or allergies, so even when food can offer comfort, it has to be done well or it could end up making a difficult day even worse.

Food isn't the only thing I've learned offers comfort when life feels out of balance. I love a good hot bath. Every now and then, I stumble onto new ways to make it through the day. About 12 years ago, I lived 9 houses down from my parents. It was a deliberate move because her health issues were more than my father to manage alone. This means I visited often, and in those visits, no matter how well or unwell she was, mother always offered her opinion and advice.

Until I was in my mid 20s, I was not fond of mother, and her advice, no matter how wise, had to float into my brain pass all of those defense mechanisms I'd built over the years. But by the time I moved to live near her, I realized many of the things she shared had merit. I listened.

It really never mattered what role-play or job I've chosen, there have been people in every setting who had a lot to share, their opinion, their advice, their help. Unfortunately, not all advice comes with equal measure. People share misleading advice that confuses things more than helping them.

I have found no difference in my modeling journey. Former models, current models, designers, agencies... they all have points of view, advice to share, and believe honestly that what they're sharing has value. Sometimes, the advice helped me take the next big step. Sometimes it felt more like the blind leading the blind. I try to discern useful things and carefully step around things not quite on target.
