A Pose Makes It Perfect -- Featuring Odelitte from Four Seasons Market, [LG]Boutique, Sundaara and .:JUMO:. from .PENUMBRA. Fashion Week and **NEW** Dark Horse Style

What a difference poses make, eh? I find myself truly blessed by the relationship turned friendship turned family that I've found myself in with October, aka Keisha. Because she's done so many photos for different people, models, non-models, couples, friends, she's got a trillion zillion poses on her work station. I go gah-gah for her poses and play; and I could take a hundred photos before I moved on to something new.
In this styling today, I pulled in pieces again, yayayaya grateful for the diversity in designs that allow me the puzzle time part of this process. I took this Petra Jacket from Sundaara Designs and sold at .PENUMBRA. Fashion Week and began to build the look. The skirt comes from a design by [LG]Boutique, sold this month at Designer Showcase - which recently relocated so here's a new link - http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Flawless/179/59/28, called Hang With Me. Mixing it up with bold colors, I pulled on a new pair of boots from Odelitte Suede Boots Red that you can purchase at Four Seasons Market then promptly added a pair of tintable socks from N-Core to add those ever necessary Autumn layers. The socks tinted to a bold purple complimented my final new accessory, the necklace from .:JUMO:. called Fascination in Purple.
And last but never least, I took a friend's suggestion, and went over to a brand new store called Dark Horse Style and snagged a whole array of new nail appliers. I've learned that just like shoes and hair, one can never have too many nails. I wouldn't want you or me to get bored with the same old same old! This design is called Curved Dark. Many different little painted pictures adorn an array of nails, including some fun Halloween related autumn sets. I'm not sure how long her nails will be 50L but that's her opening week special and that means your Lindens s-t-r-e-t-c-h better.

Kiss Me Pink -- Featuring Image Essentials and *~Damesfly*~ from FASHIONART Faire, [[Masoom]] at Designer Showcase, and N-Core

I always thought that having a water park next to the ocean made sense. I traveled to Visit Myrtle Beach, South Carolina a number of times as a young person, and then many many more times as an adult and parent of two of my own little people. Saltwater and sand are two things that must be tolerated to enjoy the beach, and when I go, I know there will be plenty of both, hidden in pockets, in small crevices of shoes, under beds... EVERYWHERE.
Several parks by the ocean have existed over the 40 or so years I've been to Myrtle, and they've always been a welcome reprieve. Energy remains high, people having fun, screaming at the long quick drops of a water slide, children splashing in the children's area, and screaming, and so much more. It's fresh water. It's entertainment that purely exhausts the children (and the mother!!), and it's a different sort of bonding experience. Overcoming fears, accepting the thrill of the moment, and talking about it for hours later, even days or years later, make those moments priceless.
I saw this slide by the ocean and immediately had a rush of wonderful memories flood my senses. I knew I wanted to shoot the series of photos at the top of the slide. Masoom's Sunny Day Bikini and Hat may be found at Designer Showcase May. The elegant poses come from Image Essentials Props and Poses and are another special item they have at the FASHIONART Faire. I discovered N-Core's newest group gift when I dropped by to check on sales. The name Pink Glitter Zebra made me laugh out loud. I needed a pair of shoes that color! Really, I did. I've already shown you the hair from *~Damesfly*~, one of the four options for sale at FASHIONART Faire, but I wanted to use it again because it's one of my favorite current hair styles in my inventory and if you knew how I hoarded hair, you'd see how difficult it would be to make it to the top of my list!
And, one more thing... don't the lips look so kissable? A new spring/summer season of lipsticks are coming to Kyxe Skins & Shapes, and the lips shown here are a sneak peek preview. They're so new, they don't have an official name, but the series of lips will be Romance, so perfect for the hopeful romantic in me. Maybe with kissable lips, I'll get a kiss or two. Miracles do happen.

To the designers who made this blog possible, thank you so much!

Must Be Spring -- Easter Market Petits Chats, Candy Crunchers, Eyelure, Dscribe, Persnickety, and StoraxTree

All the items from the Easter Market make for a wonderful tapestry of artistic puzzle pieces, to choose and delight in their fun frazzle of pastels and more.

These items are all from the Easter Market: Petits Chat Easter Egg Skirt, Candy Crunchers Necklace Bunny, Eyelure Tank Over Bikini, Dscribe Decorations Hanging Eggs, Persnickety Easter Flowers, and StoraxTree Feline Treasures and Thatched Spring Planter.
The additional items are staples of my wardrobe including the delicious Walnut skin and the new shadows from Kyxe Skins & Shapes and mesh eyes from KMADD/MODA Designs. I haven't used anyone else's eyes since Maddox gave me this box. There are literally hundreds of options and I've loved every one I've tried.
I used another of the special HUD options with poses built in from [[j'adore]]. I offer a gentle nudge to remind you that the Japan Fair opens today and has many terrific things to try and all proceeds go to the ShelterBox -- read more here http://japanfair2014.wordpress.com/about-us-japan-fair-2014/

Getting Over Monday -- Featuring Countdown from SAVIAD, NEW Poses from KaTink, Cae Jewelry and Kyxe Skins & Shapes

The new series of photos come from the last of the day yesterday. Isn't it odd how a day makes a difference. If it's Monday, it just feels differently than Tuesday and of course, each of us define which days are valued more and which ones are more ~grrr~ and look forward to or cringe as each one comes and goes.
I'm in the military. Well not me, personally. I'm medically disabled retired USN, but I'm still married to the military, and he's back at work, creating rhythm for our life again, with the passing of days. When he was home healing from surgery, neither of us knew what day of the week it was or time of day. There was some freedom to that, but also a sense of falling but never reaching the bottom of the hole.
As I struggled through a new Monday yesterday, a day where my best friend in my whole world had to return to work and leave me deserted for the better part of 12 hours, I thought of our world and how life evolves, and does so slowly sometimes, so you don't even remember when it changed.
When I was younger, more agile, more on the go, if I got a little lonely or missed him on a Monday, I'd get my keys and head out into the world. I've never been much of a shopper, but I've always loved people watching. Now I do not drive and don't go galavanting, but I still get out of my head in my own way. Much of the time it includes my visits to Second Life and my interactions with people here, friends, business associates, and otherwise.

I also always felt less melancholy when I paused to put pretty on, pretty hair, pretty clothing, did my nails, whatever I could do to make myself feel like I'd created a positive change in my day, and it doesn't and didn't take all that much to make it happen. I do that now with clothing like this gown from Countdown at SAVIAD. And show it off with brand new poses that came out this weekend from KaTink Poses (the Mindy set 1). I think the jewelry is elegant and suits the gown and it's one of those sets that allows you to change texture and metal, so you have many sets instead of just one. It's from Cae. And no look would be complete without skin from Kyxe Skins & Shapes.

I made it through my Monday this week and already working on a Tuesday. I hope you enjoy your day, whatever day it is in your world, and pull silver linings from the most difficult.

Love and Other Simple Words -- Featuring Romance Couture, Kyxe Skins & Shapes, [Mirror's Enigma] and MADesigns

There are a series of commercials currently running that debuted about a year and some months ago during the rush of basketball season; commercials were so successful that more were made later that year and still more appear from time to time. A fella sits with a group of four children and asks what appear to be simple questions.

6. WoW Designs: Gulsem Jewelry Set
7. N-Core: Caresse Silver
8. Apple Spice Poses: Boho Event

Children, however, don't absorb questions quite the way adults do, and their responses vary from commercial to commercial, leaving the audience and me chuckling. When I saw the first of this series, I had no idea what product it sponsored. I adored the guy and how he interacted with the children. That made an impression on me. And the final comment, "It's not complicated." hits home and wraps every version of the commercial.

I don't know what's not complicated, or what the point of his questions are. I know that life usually is complicated and even the things I'd expect to be the simplest of all of life's complexities are still complicated. No matter the topic, when I'm on the outside looking in, I can often offer insight, support, positive interpretations and see the simplicity of the moment. Even when friends aren't overtly asking for support or advice, I feel like I could end most conversations like the commercial. "It's not complicated."

However, it's an entirely different story when the situation or topic or conversation relates to me and my life. From the inside looking out, everything feels complicated. Good people, close friends and family, often listen then point out this fact or that, and they too come to a conclusion much of the time, "It's not complicated." I appreciate their insight, even when it sounds like those young people answering the questions, quirky, random, and like a foreign language.

One topic generates complexity no matter where I turn, who I address, who's life it is, and what's occurring or already occurred. Love. Quotes about love abound. People have been explaining it for thousands of years, and yet it remains one of the least understood words. Love acts. Love is. Love exists in so many forms, defined by so many people in so many different ways. Regardless of gender or age, creed and faith, culture or family, it's complicated.

Despite it being a simple four letter word that's spelled differently in hundreds of languages, in theory it makes so much more sense than it does in practice. On one level, love feels so good. Some use the word love to describe the act of it, and particularly the performing of love in intimate settings. Others use the word love to describe the way they feel. Whether action or emotion, shared with family and friends or strangers, love is complicated.

I think it's easier for me to define what love isn't. Love isn't selfish. Love doesn't hurt others. In my second life, there are times I see love in action. The event for which these gowns were designed, Dreams Way - raising money for support and research related to Autism and Aspberger's Syndrome, allows a whole array of random people to actively do something and act lovingly to people they may never meet.

But also in my second life, I seek connection on a far more personal level. If love can be complicated in person, I think it's exponentially more complicated in a virtual environment where text and context get lost in translation even when two people are speaking the same language. I wish love was really a simple word to define, to live, to understand, and to embrace. Others have been trying to figure it out for centuries and now it's our turn, our now. Love is... worth it. Live! Laugh! and yes, Love!

How Bad Do You Think It Could Be? -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, .::Shellac, and [Mirror's Enigma]

One of my new shows I've been watching is Blacklist. It's not as great as The Following but it's certainly better than Siberia. It doesn't really matter if you know the show or not because you'll be able to follow my train of thought anyway. The show builds on the idea that one man claims he has a list of people so bad and so top secret that the government doesn't really know they exist. He'll exchange favors with the government officials in trade for his information about the list.

I have a military background myself, USN 1989 and 1990. My sweetheart has served AF for 26 years. We know a lot of things go on in the government that the government doesn't tell the military. If the military doesn't know, then I'm certain the general population of the country doesn't know either. As I watched the most recent episode of The Blacklist tonight and pondered the story line, and all the supposed super-bad bad guys, I thought about a whole array of covert information.

I have no doubt that not knowing is in the best interest of most of us, generally speaking, if for no other reason than prevention of mass panic. It's already a handful for a community when a registered sex offender moves into the community. If somehow we had a Blacklist from the government like they discuss on the show, how would any of us develop community, develop trust, love thy neighbor and all of that? Sometimes knowledge is power, but sometimes maybe it's not a good thing at all.

I hear just enough about subjects like balancing the budget and other things to know without doubt that there are many things I do not know and many things I would not want to know for any reason in a million years. The Blacklist builds on a concept that sells, not as well as sex sells, but it does sell. Fear. Fear sold duct tape in the 1990's when it was hinted that should the US airspace be compromised with some sort of biological weapon, duct tape could prevent exposure.

I think it could be easy to get lost in the mess of what could be true. I think a good television program diverts attention and entertains. If it creates a certain anxiety that bleeds into a sense of conspiracy or a loss of trust, it's probably not healthy and I shouldn't watch it at all. I enjoy it for now. I like pondering things for a little while. How bad could it really be?

It could be really bad. It could also be really good. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would be the poster child for giving a fair shake to POSITIVE and NEGATIVE theories. It would make for bad fear provocation, bad television, but a healthy me. I'm willing to accept there are some huge problems buried under miles of military protection, but if I accept that, I also postulate that there are some huge solutions buried down in that wild melee of red tape and secrets too!

A Special Blog For A Charity Event - Featuring *Living Imagination* for A Dream Within

Quoted from the organizers: "'A Dream Within...' is a charity event for Crohn's and Colitis UK (info: http://www.crohnsandcolitis.org.uk/) and is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe."

I also went to the web to pull a similar link for those in the United States, http://www.ccfa.org/

Quoted from the original note card: "Each designer was assigned to a different verse/part of one of Poe's poems and was asked to interpret it into a creation, a visual composition of theirs. Why Poe? I just simply find E. A. Poe very inspiring. There is no other like him. :)"

You will find the event at Azure Island, just outside Finesmith's main store. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Azure%20Island/128/100/7 , beginning with a small fashion show November 9 then running for the week.

The incredible gown I'm wearing comes inspired from a snippet of Poe:

There pass'd, as a shroud,
A fleecy cloud,
And I turned away to thee,
Proud Evening Star,
In thy glory afar,
And dearer thy beam shall be;

For joy to my heart
Is the proud part
Thou bearest in Heaven at night,
And more I admire
Thy distant fire,
Than that colder, lowly light.

Thank you to Ms. Bodza Blackadder, designer for *Living Imagination* who created this gown and allowed me to share the event here. The poem shared here is a portion of the poem Evening Star by Edgar Allan Poe.

Looking For A Piece Of the Past -- Featuring Zanze, [Mirror's Enigma], N-Core, .::Shellac::., Lyr!cal B!zarre

This evening, I spent over an hour searching for my wedding tape. VHS. Yes. Old School. I tried to remember the name of a song, and then tried to remember who sang it, and I don't know either answer. I don't tend to collect memorabilia. I just don't. But I do wish I knew where the tape was.

It all began simply enough, one of those silly conversations that popped up last night and continued on to this evening. "What song is OUR song?" my sweetheart asked me. See, I make up little songs to sing to the Yorkies I call my bad children. I used to make up little songs for my sons when they were young.

It's certainly not by lack of connection or special things we've done in our lives. I know that we've got a lifetime of memories already, and celebrate our 24th anniversary in May. I just never had to entertain or calm my sweetheart. I created those little songs for the children and the other children out of need.

My memory may be more like memory foam, with loads of air holes where thoughts used to be, and the location of that video tape may remain hidden for a few more months or years. I don't have a little song that represents my connection to the most special man in my life.

I'm blessed. He is a piece of my past, but he's also a piece of my present and I know that as long as we both shall live, he will be a piece of my future. If the time arose where I felt a need to entertain him, or calm him with a song, I'm sure I'd come up with something.

Paying Attention.. Or Not -- Featuring ~ghee, blackLiquid and N-Core

Irony at it's finest. My other blog post today related to details and I completely missed the details because I mixed two blog posts in my head and added blackLiquid to the header of the other blog, and blackLiquid's incredible and FUN new hair released just in time for Halloween shows in these photos on this blog. So I know the details and they're 'MY' details and I still get lost!

I'm the first to give someone else a break for being human. I wonder then why it is so difficult for me to give myself the same freedom. I go into panic mode when I realize I made an error, especially when it's something public. I have to backtrack, fix the error, and then make sure people realize it was an error so they don't get mixed information.

I have been having such fun with all the new items for Halloween. I generally do pay attention carefully and check and re-check myself. Here's just one of those examples where I was so excited about the various pieces, from the previous blog and this one as well, and all the photos I'd gotten to take and edit, that I ended up being the one not paying close enough attention.

The gown from ~ghee - The Webbing Gown - has it's allusion to Halloween as does the Neutronic Hair (which comes from a Gacha with several other unusual surprises if you dare). And I took liberties with another pair of N-Core heels I added to my inventory because I cannot stay away from N-Core sales at all, and made sure all the tintable pieces were red so the shoefits in perfectly even if it's hidden below the skirt.

I shared with a friend that I don't see myself so 'Goth-like' or 'Emo' or even 'Hipster', so the items from the Halloween section of Second Life stores have pushed my boundaries of comfort, but I loved the challenge. I think I found a way to blend those eerie items and still made it look elegant. I don't know how many proper, lady-like ghosts are haunting this Halloween, but maybe one or two would understand the concept and mirror my interpretation!

Life Is In the Details -- Featuring [Mirror's Enigma] and N-Core

I think it's easy to lose sight of the direction I'm headed. It's something I find easy to do on or off line. I set goals. I learned that idea some long time ago in a galaxy far far away but it doesn't mean that I do it regularly or that I do so successfully. I'd like to think I did, but I know I falter.

I do like to daydream. Maybe it's not so strange that my daydreams have very little to do with reality or goal setting. I don't know what the content of a daydream should be or if some psychologist somewhere has defined it. I know that my daydreams often include things in life I know I won't be able to do, but would love to do.

Whether I'm looking forward to a future that I can control or dreaming about one that is unlikely, I realize that I rarely pay attention to the details of those thoughts. Broad strokes make sense in the thinking phase of decisions. I would like to be recognized as a Second Life Top Model. I would like to visit Ireland. Both are true. Both exclude any details. Yet, I could sit and ponder for hours on either of those short sentences.

When I look back at things I've done or places I've traveled or people I've known, my brain dances. Memories are funny little things, and in them, the scent of a moment or the song of a moment make a difference and that moment stores away in our mind till something triggers it, and we remember every casual nuance and every precious thing.

Maybe the skills to dream and the means to remember come from very different parts of the brain, or utilize different synapses. There's probably some scientific answer at the molecular level. Meanwhile, I daydream with big ideas, and I reflect down to the minutiae and find both satisfying. I know, as I sit and type, life really exists in the details, so whatever happens, I'll have those treasured bits and bites of data to hold on to for the rest of my existence.

Through the past two weeks, I've done a lot of combination stylings with pieces from the Boho Fair. I ended up with a mishmash of items that could not really be cross styled. I like showing how designers create great items, and being able to show how they blend well with other designs and designers.

I set up a great little studio arena for this series. I'd gotten away from studio shots as I have loved exploring light and shadow and windlight settings in recent months. It just made sense to do the Boho photos similarly.

A couple of designers had repeat uses, both because they had several colors or styles and because there were so few of their type of product included in the items bloggers received. I had four skins from the Boho fair.

Only a few designers contributed jewelry and a few did shoes. It makes sense, statistically speaking, because this breakdown of clothing tends to be a fair cross section of Second Life shopping. I even received a few men's items. It seems men must need to change clothing less often? or something!

Thank you to everyone who made this fair happen, and for including me in the experience. I have many pieces from each of the boxes that I have yet to share, and will let them work their way into coming blogs, but I want to make sure the designers want me to keep posting things from the event after it ends before I do so. Live! Laugh! Love!

You've Got a Friend -- Featuring A.F.I Designs (from Boho Fair), N-Core and Kyxe Skins & Shapes

Recently, I let the owner of A.F.I Designs know that a good friend was frustrated with all sorts of things associated to the business side of Second Life. Later that day, she asked me which store, and then still later that day, she had gone over to that store and gotten something or maybe several somethings.

6. Di's Opera Poses

Another day came and went and she sent me a quick IM about how she'd gotten a couple of friends together and gone back to the store. I was really affected by this. She said that she knew how difficult some days felt and how steep the tier felt on land sometimes as a designer.

When I told her that someone was in need, I was talking about encouragement. But when she heard what I shared, she took it to the next level and instead of just sending a note, or an IM, or a hug, she acted. She visited and not only that, she brought friends too.

Each person on my friend list is there for a different reason. I believe with all my heart that when any of us approach this Second Life like we might our first life, it transcends a game. I know that for me, when DJAFI went the extra mile to help, it meant a lot to me and trickled down in that special way things do, til her actions touched many.
