Rekt Chasing Cars - Featuring [SWANK]: [Wood Works] and *GLITTER*

I knew Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars song before today. I'd heard it played on Internet radio and in the car, inundated with it for a while, and it moved into that pocket of 'I really liked that song but it's old now and something else has come along' category. Then I watched the finale of Grey's Anatomy Season 11 on Netflix and heard the song played several times in the two hour program and I was rekt.
Characters from beloved books and programs become part of our world and when they feel something, if they're well written and well acted, they make us feel something. Music works magic as well, like a maestro accustomed to directing the feelings of those who hear. Couple a good character, a good story arc, a good season finale and music like Chasing Cars by Snow Patrol and WoW! I had tears QQ for days. So moved was I by the music that I did one of those teen things, shut myself away in my room and listened to it over and over and over again on Youtube. WoW! QQ

I've found that different art in other parts of my world affect me deeply. I think that's the purpose of art, truly, and when I feel something, I remember it a lot longer than something that's just meh. It's one of many reasons I love embracing the vast variety of Second Life virtual design, virtual creation, virtual art, and then making my own with it, like the photo in blue I took of today's style from [SWANK]. The shelving comes from [Wood Works], Artistry Candle Sconce and Touch Of Red Decor. The Ocean Queen gown with layers that move constantly all around, unique depth of design with mesh bits along the bodice and waist, and a see through netting cloth comes from *GLITTER*. Serenity and delicate beauty ooze from the overall look, the art connecting to me emotionally. It may be the 50 Shades of Red theme, and there's a wee bit of red in my look, but today, it's all about the music and the emotion.

The Quiet Hush Of Christmas Morning [FLRN] at Winter Market Event, BaoBa at The Couturier's Docks and New NOYA Gifts

I went late late last night to the party Mr. Marcus announced for those who didn't want to be alone at Christmas. It was far too late to find party goers but I did have the pleasure of marveling at the beautiful layout and decor of the club. I felt like a little girl tiptoeing around the house after the grown-ups had turned out the lights and tucked everyone in bed. It was beautiful.
I've only begun to know Mr. Lefevre... and the more I know of him and the more I know him, the more I realize how he's impacted others' lives. It's truly a treat and a blessing, something you couldn't wrap and tuck under a tree, but a gift nonetheless. Baoba created this adorable hat made of poinsettias and ornamentation called "Rudolf" for The Couturier's Docks.
The new sweat and mini skirt set, which I love love love for the details and quality of content is from [FLRN] and can be purchased at their Winter Event and NOYA sent out a set of gifties to loyal customers (in my opinion she does far too much but I'm grateful for those gifts) and this box included some snowflake type lashes. The party had ended, and the whole place silent as I stood between the gilded golden tree and the silver grand piano, and I still soaked in that spirit of the holidays. I hope yours is blessed, whatever your faith, wherever you are in this great wild world.

A Big Thank You To NOYA

Simply put, NOYA spoils you after you've purchased a single item from her on Marketplace for... well so far for me, forever.

I don't know if she knows how much her special details mean to those of us who live our Second Life on a shoestring budget, but in my world each of those trinkets along the way have been special.

Thank you, NOYA!

With adoration from a lil ole southern girl in South Carolina

Bright White or Dark Night -- Featuring *Whimsical Imaginarium* and NOYA

Bright and white or dark as night, that's what dreams are made of... Whimsical Imaginarium offers that and so much more.

This week, the new White Swan gown came to The Couturier's Docks.
Terror Couture released to The Instruments. Both of these offer fun options for this time of year, and with Terror Couture, you can save the little horror pieces and still wear the rest of the ensemble for other events and look oh so sexy with that waspish waist.
I paired Noya's new White Pearls set with the white gown and added other brightly white bits and pieces to complete the overall effect. With the Terror Couture array of items, few accessories were needed to make this look complete.
Whether light or dark, I enjoy the opportunity to play and the exquisite quality of *Whimsical Imaginarium* by Bodza E Tucker aka Bodza Mubble. Thank you!

As Old As a Dinosaur In SL-years -- Featuring Carrie's Lingerie and {{BSD Design Studio}}

I shot this first set of photos that I'm sharing today just before bed last night. I was unpacking another item from a business that has an owl rest on your shoulder instead of a bag appear in your hand (or box) and it was the second time I'd had something from them. The owl fascinated me, and it made for a fun pose to share this Carrie's look. Lingerie with a tiny little skirt, a separate piece that's the corset, wear all the pieces or mix and match.
I put on a pair of BSD Design studio heels and then worked with pieces of jewelry from several different sets. The shape I use with Carrie's Lingerie, and a few other designers who focus on nightwear or swimwear is a bit different. She's got curves to go with her hot sawssss... and she knows how to use them. I even pulled out a pair of earrings I received as a gift and kept, and the designer no longer exists in world so there are no creators. I'm as old as a dinosaur in SL-years!

I'm so thankful for the designers who support my blog:

Wedding and White Week at Carrie's -- And New From {{BSD Design Studio}}

This week is Wedding and White week at Carrie's Lingerie. This Evie in white is not one of the new ones she's released but it got me in the mood to go and shop and see what IS new.
I saw some of the most elaborate Carrie's creations yet while I was there today taking these photos. Many sets at Carrie's are either mini-skirt and/or lingerie, mix and match or they're full gowns of varying styles. Either way, one choices yields many options.
This little white confection had a bolero jacket, a full corset, two different skirts, stockings and the expected bra and panty that all matched. But oh my goodness, some of the new releases for Wedding and White Week have elaborate gown pieces in addition to the under layers of lingerie. You have to see it to believe it!
Additionally, the new Amulette heels in black and white work perfectly with the lingerie. I'm not quite sure why, but for eons, even the smallest number of clothing pieces would be paired with heels. It's even chic to wear heels, and only heels.  BSD Design studio has just the right pair for you, with or without clothing. Oh la!

I'm grateful to each designer represented in this blog and style:

Home On the Range -- Featuring B.BOS and [NV] from PENUMBRA, Truth, {{BSD}} Design Studio, and Face Paint

Many times in Second Life, I travel places and deliberately use the items, clothing, accessories, jewelry and poses designed for the men. Fewer things exist for men only and I imagine that's because there are far fewer of the male population in SL who care to be models and so demand is low for content creators. Those who do create the content for the male gender make great stuff, and sometimes it gives an edge to the female who might perch, because it's new, something no one has yet seen, and that continues to be one of the model's best tricks. See something first, find something new, designs, places, people, and figure out a way to compile it into a useful sales tool that basically sells the brand 'self' - in this case, the brand Caryn.
Tonight, I returned to Image Essentials Props and Poses property and used the Male prop studio. (The women's studio was in use and I knew I could find something as backdrop for the casual outfit I'd just styled.) The studios are great, as are the many photo op locations around the sim for photographers. Every so often new things are rotated in and older things removed. This 'Cowboy' studio set was new to me. It had poses collected by Kay Weston then creatively applied to the build. One sitting on the fence and one leaning against the fence were created by PNP while the one of me laying in the meadow came from Mystical Lane.
My outfit consists again of items from PENUMBRA Fashion week. I love how the virtual world emulates the physical one, and things like fashion weeks around the world happen in both worlds I love. B.BOS created the Maddy Tartan Pant and [NV] designed the Weiss top. I paired new items from other parts of the grid with these two PENUMBRA creations. {{BSD Design Studio}} continues to make me oooh and aaahh with pleasure because I'm such a shoes and boots fanatic! This pair of grey Supermodel Anniversary Limited heels show just one example of why her designs make me smile! Truth Hair and I have been around about the same length of time in Second Life. I just celebrated my 9th rez day a few weeks ago, and I can remember when only a few designers made hair or shoes or jewelry and I can also remember how vitally different those items then and the counterparts now really were. A very good friend, someone who simply wanted to encourage my modeling dreams gifted me a card for Truth hair so I've been blessed with several new styles and this one is the most recent. I think I like this one because of the unusual name Chilali and how fun and flirtatious it felt; it's perfect for spring.
Eve Express was one of my first mentors as I began the journey that brought me to this point in my life, blogging passionately, styling passionately, and passionately interacting in other ways with the fashion community. She took a hiatus, which disappointed so many customers, but each and everyone of them understood that she needed a break, and supported her needs. They just missed her makeup styles. Now she's back, collecting a few 'testers' for her group that try on new looks before she boxes them up and puts them on the sales floor. The new Face Paint will remind you of the old, with all the details very similar, only newer makeup, fresh for 2014 now tempts you. I'm grateful for all the people who paused in their world to help educate and encourage me in my world, and one of those people - Eve. Drop by, see the new products, offer your testing skills, and if you've never met her, nows a great time to get to know her!

None of this that I do would be possible without the support of these designers. Thank you!

A Lady In Time -- Featuring h.m.a.e.m., Chop Zuey, a Gift from Trin,

I took a couple of shots with this gown but came up with these two as the ones that suited me. I'm learning more about lighting, and the framing and all the details I can read and absorb about photographs. I also continue to hear really remarkable and sometimes "doh!" things about it.

I've done a few things from h.m.a.e.m. and visited their store this evening too. This gown was released from them and up until now, I had only thought they did jewelry and unique styling creations as accessories. I was glad I visited and got to know the designer a little better for doing so.

I have to share that a friend of mine, also a model and blogger, makes her own makeup and I'm envious. I have a little bit of experience making trinkets and tattoos but nothing special. The gift she sent this holiday is what I'm wearing and I thought it was sweet and oh lah lah glossy. Thank you Trin (Trinity Aironaut)!

A New Event - Christmas Market - Featuring Lavana, Also Zanze, **JPK, [NV], LH

It's that most wonderful time of the year again. And I have a new event to blog. I don't know how much I will see, but whatever I see I'm happy to share! It's like a little holiday every time I open a box. I hope as I share my joy and my holiday with you, you feel a little rush of positive energy.

So you'll see the logo behind the design and hopefully you'll make time to head over to the market when it opens on the 25! The first box I received came from Lavana. You'll see the sweater and hood scarf in this series.

I usually use [Mirror's Enigma] or Kyxe Skins & Shapes as skin, but now and then I use Noya's. I've bought two or three things from her over a period now of maybe 5 years and she consistently sends little gifts and treasures. I hope sharing her skin and talking about her creates interest. She's only on marketplace and she always apologizes about her English but she's wonderful and I always understand her.

I was a bit stressed when I saw this scarf hood. Hair was my issue. It's SOOOO beautiful, but it needed hair. I asked around for some advice on how to use hair with a scarf. I finally worked it out, and it helps that some hair designers like EMO-tions seen here will let you edit and move their hair as you set it. I just played with it until it fit!

The second little outfit in the box was this jumper and some leggins. I found a pair of boots and a handbag that I thought would complete the outfit. It's interesting to layer mesh on your body. I have a few tips for you. I have on mesh top, mesh romper and mesh pants.

Size up the top layer, then use your normal size for the second layer, and lastly, the layer that's buried under everything, in this case, the blue leggins, you can size down, one or two times till your layers are all neat and tidy. Have fun with this, and there's more to come! Live! Laugh! Love!

Love and Other Simple Words -- Featuring Romance Couture, Kyxe Skins & Shapes, [Mirror's Enigma] and MADesigns

There are a series of commercials currently running that debuted about a year and some months ago during the rush of basketball season; commercials were so successful that more were made later that year and still more appear from time to time. A fella sits with a group of four children and asks what appear to be simple questions.

6. WoW Designs: Gulsem Jewelry Set
7. N-Core: Caresse Silver
8. Apple Spice Poses: Boho Event

Children, however, don't absorb questions quite the way adults do, and their responses vary from commercial to commercial, leaving the audience and me chuckling. When I saw the first of this series, I had no idea what product it sponsored. I adored the guy and how he interacted with the children. That made an impression on me. And the final comment, "It's not complicated." hits home and wraps every version of the commercial.

6. WoW Designs: Gulsem Jewelry Set
7. N-Core: Caresse Silver
8. Apple Spice Poses: Boho Event

I don't know what's not complicated, or what the point of his questions are. I know that life usually is complicated and even the things I'd expect to be the simplest of all of life's complexities are still complicated. No matter the topic, when I'm on the outside looking in, I can often offer insight, support, positive interpretations and see the simplicity of the moment. Even when friends aren't overtly asking for support or advice, I feel like I could end most conversations like the commercial. "It's not complicated."

However, it's an entirely different story when the situation or topic or conversation relates to me and my life. From the inside looking out, everything feels complicated. Good people, close friends and family, often listen then point out this fact or that, and they too come to a conclusion much of the time, "It's not complicated." I appreciate their insight, even when it sounds like those young people answering the questions, quirky, random, and like a foreign language.

One topic generates complexity no matter where I turn, who I address, who's life it is, and what's occurring or already occurred. Love. Quotes about love abound. People have been explaining it for thousands of years, and yet it remains one of the least understood words. Love acts. Love is. Love exists in so many forms, defined by so many people in so many different ways. Regardless of gender or age, creed and faith, culture or family, it's complicated.

Despite it being a simple four letter word that's spelled differently in hundreds of languages, in theory it makes so much more sense than it does in practice. On one level, love feels so good. Some use the word love to describe the act of it, and particularly the performing of love in intimate settings. Others use the word love to describe the way they feel. Whether action or emotion, shared with family and friends or strangers, love is complicated.

3. MADesigns: Eyes - Confidence ~ Engaged
4. FINESMITH: Mimmi Platinum Set
5. Manifeste Poses

I think it's easier for me to define what love isn't. Love isn't selfish. Love doesn't hurt others. In my second life, there are times I see love in action. The event for which these gowns were designed, Dreams Way - raising money for support and research related to Autism and Aspberger's Syndrome, allows a whole array of random people to actively do something and act lovingly to people they may never meet.

But also in my second life, I seek connection on a far more personal level. If love can be complicated in person, I think it's exponentially more complicated in a virtual environment where text and context get lost in translation even when two people are speaking the same language. I wish love was really a simple word to define, to live, to understand, and to embrace. Others have been trying to figure it out for centuries and now it's our turn, our now. Love is... worth it. Live! Laugh! and yes, Love!

Do Angels Sleep? -- Featuring Dot-Be Fashion, MM's, blackLiquid and ::B::

It's a wonder to me that beings of light and purity have graced the world we share since the beginning of written history. They've been called all sorts of things, and represent goodness and positive energy no matter their origin.

I've read about angels, seen them in movies, and often they have very human attributes. The angel in "It's a Wonderful Life" struggles with things just as much as his human counterpart. But I wonder, do angels struggle with things in their state of purity?

7. In-Pose!

Some will say that we become angels after death, a body-less entity that watches over the world of the living and encourages their former loved ones, helps with crises, and appear in just the right setting at just the right time to correct a misdeed or undo a mistake. Are angels our afterlife?

6. [Mirror's Enigma]: Azuka Dark Lips Gum
7. In-Pose!

I think of angels without specifically categorizing them in one host religion. They're mentioned in the Christian faith, in the Bible, but that's not the first place in history they appear. If they existed prior to Christianity ever being born, that has to mean they're older than that specific religion.

By logical deduction then, if angels do exist, they have for a very long time and your ability to believe in angels doesn't need to be tethered to a religion or a specific point in history. We can all claim their existence, and eventually we'll learn what they are, who they are. I'd ask, "Do angels ever sleep?" if I met one today.

In Other Words -- Featuring Zanze, {{BSD Design Studio}}, Finesmith

Believe it or not, even I get tongue tied at times. I find words easily flow from my fingertips on most occasions, so when they do not, I get perhaps more than flustered. I get frustrated. I don't need to always be eloquent. I do need to be understood.

I visited the latest remodeling of Zanze last night. Some of you may perceive my life as all over the grid doing all sorts of things, but the reality is, I rarely leave my work behind, and even if I travel somewhere, I only stay a few minutes. I like the new build; open spaces make it feel more inviting.

When I sat at the piano, an old Frank Sinatra song came to mind. "Fly me to the moon. Let me play among the stars. Let's see what Spring is like on Jupiter and Mars." Some of the people I've met in Second Life like the creator of Zanze clothing offers that special whimsy.

If you visit their personal space or their business space, and make time to get to know them, you'll find a friend who's likely to want to go star hopping with you. I don't think everyone's whimsy matches, but in the vast virtual world we share, there is plenty of it.

Zanze and other designers like Finesmith (the most precious little girl earring and necklace are from Finesmith) create their magic, spin us around a few times or have us click our heels together then they whisk us away into the ethos of imagination.

"In other words..." the song says, "I love you." When all else fails in communication, those three little words, "I love you," will always help. Live! Laugh! Love!

Home Sweet Home - Featuring A.F.I Designs, Luziefee, Hairoin and Tresor

There's a saying - Your Home Is Where Your Heart Is - and I think it's an interesting bit of truth, especially since many of us have created virtual world homes that mean as much if not more to those who've done so, and in essence their whole life exists in text and pixels and connecting people.

I really never was keen on the idea of a personal home. I have owned two very small homes along my SL journey, both of which fit on a 512x512 parcel. This was the size the Lindens offered rent free for members who joined when I joined.

Even way back when SL was much smaller as far as land mass would take you, and the few groups that gathered like-minded people, I enjoyed those few locations more than I ever did the 512x512 piece. I needed to feel people's energy, highs and lows, and be a part of something bigger than myself.

I've shared more of my heart and soul in my Second Life than with many who would know me from my life offline. Due to circumstances I do not control, it's very rare for me to travel to visit family, to go 'home' for the holidays or attend special events like weddings and graduations.

Maybe that's why I really need this world we share. I've met others, many many others, who also deal with health issues and have their world and their home at their fingertips. I'm not special in that regard, just one of many who learned how to distract myself in a computer so I did not dwell on the less fortunate details.

There was a time when people online would see another person stressing out about some activity in their online world and in text, the one person would tell the other to 'GET A LIFE'. It was meant as an insult, to their intelligence, to their ability to actively accomplish something off line, and to imply all sorts of rudeness.

Times have changed in that regard. Many people make this world their life for many reasons. Who am I to judge when a person can or cannot function in society that's beyond the virtual world where I know them? If I judge harshly, I should be prepared to be judged harshly. I prefer to accept what I see and hear until such a time may come where I learn it wasn't real or truthful.

I've heard the phrase a number of times in my many explorations. Some things I've done were for the pure fun of it, role-play and all sorts of imaginative things. They resembled things I'd done as a younger woman, like Dungeons and Dragons, only pixelated and more intense.

I've made this my life. THIS thing I do, this thing I enjoy, and these people I get to work with here. In a new Cleo gown from A.F.I Designs, only available at BOSL Renaissance Galleria paired with stiletto boots, Lysa by Luziefee or wearing a new princess-ish gown from Tresor called Zuri's Elegance and brand new hair from Hairoin called Blair I'm right at home, where my heart is, enjoying the life I've created for myself, It's my life, and I know I make the most and best of it.

Every Now and Then I See... a New Me -- Featuring blackLiquid, A.F.I Designs, Pure Poison, White Widow, and Liv-Glam

Every now and then, I see a new me. It continues to happen. At first, I thought it was just what I would do when I was in modeling school or working with a new mentor. People critiqued my look often. Some made suggestions while others insisted. I continue to desire to be flexible and work with anyone who's also willing to work with me, so I'd edit me.

I still listen to those I respect in the business. I have gone to get specific skins because a designer would like their photos taken with that skin for my blog. If I'm taken seriously as a blogger, than I repay that with all earnestness for my sponsor, whoever it may be. I don't even mind being something fantastical from time to time, like a fairy or an elf.

A tweak here and a tug there never seem like much. Then I go back and I look at my avi from a month ago or three months ago, and though they always seem similar, I can tell what changes I've made along my journey.

A day or so ago, I saw a lady post in one of the modeling groups a "HELP! I don't recognize me, what do I do?" petition. She'd been to a class or an event where change was encouraged and she'd changed so many elements, she was lost and didn't know herself at all.

Carrie Bridger at Carrie's Lingerie was the first to comment on my shape, about how tiny I was, and suggested I stretch. She found a good price on Marketplace for a couple of shapes and I chose one of those. It was leaner and taller. I went from 5'3 to about 5'7. This was a major change for me!

The next time someone worked with me on shape occurred at Face Paint. I was new, not even placed yet in their contest, just doing some practice store modeling while the contest was in progress. Eve Express gave me a 'basic model' shape then encouraged me to take it and edit it and make it feel like me. I wasn't sure what felt like me, but I was more than willing to do as she said, and I edited it.

About three months later, I'd been working with Face Paint during the passage of that time, and Eve set an appointment for me to meet the amazing Ponchituti for a private-ish shape lesson and work on the shape I already had been tweaking. Ms. Ponch gave me a few key pointers that have helped ever since. She said, "Always make a copy of the now you and save it. Then adjust yourself s-l-o-w-l-y.

Rather than making huge changes, she suggested 2 or 3 points on the slider option built in to creating SL shapes. She said that if I did more than that each time I worked on it, I would send everything pelmel into catastrophe. Sound advice too, because it did help prevent me from that overwhelming sense of "Who am I?"

Later, I bid on personal time with Mr. Frolic. I was enamored by this man and when he wanted to 'take my shape and tweak it some' I was more than eager to comply. He sent me back an updated version of Caryn, but it was by no means finished. He said I would have more work to do when I attended a modeling class. I had already known I wanted to attend Miss Virtual World Modeling Academy.

When the time came, and I did attend the Shape Class portion of MVWMA, I spent an official hour with Ms. Kay Fairey and then later, she worked with me one on one to help me understand the tweaks and changes she'd recommended. I worked on minute details with her and that again was priceless.

I've never had that "Oh no! Where did I go?" reaction to shape editing. I have a short, a tall, a curvaceous, a thin (for mesh) and several other versions of the same me, because regardless what I edit otherwise, I keep the face the same. Though I thought I'd get to a point where I thought I was 'done', I realize now that I was not, nor would I ever be really done with my shape.

I visited Couturier's Docks this morning and found an array of items I thought would accessorize the amazing new Flower Power dress from A.F.I Designs. The Chen hair from blackLiquid paired with Pure Poison's Silver Tomnia jewelry and fantastic eye art from White Widow seemed like they were all from the same puzzle and all I had to do was put it together.

For the Liv-Glam look, I got the dress from the 24 Event. Because I worked for Liv-Glam for a number of months, I know various versions of a dress appear all around the grid at special locations as well as at least one being for sale in the flagship store. I continue to keep all of my Liv-Glam items that include clothing, shoes, jewelry and so much more. When I blog something from Liv-Glam, I try to accessorize with Liv-Glam products.
