Scaryn All Of You, Even Scaryn Me! -- Featuring Tresor Couture, October's 4Seasons and blackLiquid

Another Scaryn styling comes straight out of the mind of KarenSunshine, creator, designer and owner of Tresor Couture. I took this awesomely fun outfit over to the best Haunted House on the grid up at Carrie's Lingerie VIP, and took some photographs. Oh how fun.
I love playing dress up. Elvira, but suddenly the Country Song began playing in my head. Oh make it stop. Make it stop! LOL blackLiquid made some great blood red nails for appliers and October's 4Seasons has a Seduction Gloss out called Red Vines. All worked well together to make this spooktacular look for today's notes and blog.
Hope you're having fun with all the designers fun and frolicsome side as Halloween draws nigh - and I'm going to change my name from Scaryn to something very Holidays-y so be on the look out this weekend for something sweet as Christmas on your friends list to pop up!

Moody Days and Perfect Makeup -- Featuring October's 4Seasons, Chop Zuey, Boudoir and Tresor Couture

It's been a long time since something or someone made me cry 'online'. I forgot how it felt. We share our hearts with various people for many different reasons. We extend trust slowly, and then we hope that we're going to survive that moment, and the next. Of course we do survive, and maybe as models, with pixelated mascara and eyeliner, our makeup never runs, but I think the tears fall down somewhere in our hearts. I question myself, my ability to relate to others, and my connections here in this virtual world after days like today. And I'm so glad that not too many days like today exist in my world.
I often tell people that life is too short to get upset or stay upset. I know this more because of the health scares I've had and because I live with kidney disease. I don't expect special treatment. I would really dislike that. I'm already the china doll that everyone's afraid to touch in my world off line. To live that online too, well I just couldn't. So I'm here, in a beautiful gown, hair by one of my favorite designers, alone on the floor of a grand ballroom and realizing that sometimes, it's very sad to be alone, and other times, it's just what I need. I don't know about this moment right now. I don't often write 'moody' notes. It's just hitting me harder than it should, maybe because I haven't let the door open for long in a long time and haven't had so many 'moody' moments.
I'm grateful to the designers who support me, friends I've made in this business, places I've gotten to go and events in which I've participated. I love the lady behind the name Tresor Couture. She does a lot for the world around her and I treasure people like that. Yes, Tresor - treasure. It fits. I wouldn't be the same person if I didn't have Ms. Oooh October in my life and the chance to wear her skins exclusively is a privilege. I can't imagine Second Life without Chop Zuey and Boudoir and all of the high class designers who've been here, creating, designing, and letting me taste a little nibble from their world. It helps me disappear for a little while, into another world, and it doesn't hurt, not for a little while, anyway.

All Things Considered... Featuring Tresor and Pure Poison (another item from the J&A Expo -- in progress!)

I love the public radio station program that comes on at night. "All Things Considered" is a news program that does reporting much like television news, but of course without vision to aid the listener, the stories end up being more verbal, and in my opinion, better explained.

I also like it for its content. No matter where I've traveled in the US, in my younger years, I always tuned in to the local radio for this show. It had a local clip prior to the show or just after it, then talked about anything, since all things that happened could be considered news of the day.

I've also heard the words 'all things considered' used prior to explaining something that had some minor errors, but went well. Broadway openings sometimes have reviews that end with the phrase. The debut of a restaurant might have the same type of review. It's understood that it takes a lot to produce either.

After the party that celebrated Kyxe Skins & Shapes move to its new location at 4Seasons Mall, I spoke briefly to the people who'd been there with me to do the celebrating. The people were happy. Little things happen, but that's just life. All things considered, IT WENT REALLY WELL.

A Whisper Of Holiday Smoke - Featuring Tresor Couture and [Mirror's Enigma] Plus ((Crystal Line)) from J&A Expo

Sometimes I feel everything I do as I prepare a blog. Other times, I simply feel lost. Yes. It happens. It's ironic to me, also. The times I feel the least prepared are the times I get the positive thumbs up.

And the times I feel tuned in and capable and like I'm growing and getting a little better with each photo shoot, I hear crickets.

I really love this gown from Tresor. Holiday Glamour Smoke with or without the whispy fur around the neckline looks beyond elegant.

But then you turn around and show the rest of the story. Oh la la. This gown has all the sex appeal you could ask for too.

This skin is a sneak peek at the new Kami from [Mirror's Enigma]. The tears with makeup running may be my most favorite skin enhancement ever. I don't know why.

The Magic Of Everywhereness -- Featuring Tresor and Kyxe Skins & Shapes

All day, every day, I have this overwhelming sense of everywhereness. I talk to people who live around the globe and though their time zone and my time zone are different, and their lives with their people and their age and their gender and their needs and... everything... gives me a chance to know a little bit about everywhere.

It's too early to get into physics and fringe science this morning, but I think the moment we all enter the grid of Second Life, we all meld into the same where at the same time and the external clocks and external forces of culture and class and expectations have far less hold on any of us. We break the laws of physics and yet it happens.

It's not the fact that I can fly to several version of New York, travel to the land of fairies, or visit a dark decrepit place that only seemed like fantasy when Faust wrote of it centuries ago. I get the whole dynamic of a multiple sim grid, and all that it provides. It's more than this though. It's the fact that I can go into any place on this diverse grid and then connect to people in the land of far far away.

I love the fact that some of my favorite people live in places I can't spell. Recently, a friend on Facebook shared some photos outside his door, and it was from a place called Ushuaia. I didn't know there was such a place in existence, and happy to learn it was, because the pair of photos he showed were both beautiful examples of the world outside his door.

Maybe this holiday I will start a campaign for people to take a photo outside their front door. Not back at their house. No. I wouldn't want to increase the odds of stalkers finding people. Creepy thought, but sadly one that flitted through my head. If I step out my own front door I love it. I live in the middle of no where but about a mile away there's an Air Force Base. Between me and it... loads of winter trees.

Intellectually though, I know that it's only winter in the Northern hemisphere. I used to have very close friends who lived in New Zealand. The she part of the couple was always hot when I was freezing and vice versa. Perhaps weather extremes helped to teach us all to complain a little tiny bit. I'm not bigger fan of freezing toes as I being too hot.

I process this magic of everywhereness in several ways. I will blog something from every season. It's 5 o'clock somewhere, as the song goes. It's rather naive and egocentric of me to assume that the season I feel is the only season. If you create beautiful items like these two gowns from Tresor, you can be sure I will do my best to style it and enjoy every minute of the magic! Live! Laugh! Love!

Round Robin -- Featuring Tresor, {{BSD Shoe Design}}, Chop Zuey, [Mirror's Enigma] and MADesigns

There are a number of terrific designers that I've met. And that list continues to grow. I met another new owner of a new store on the grid just yesterday. I think it's great that Second Life continues to perpetuate the effort at creating a live economy, even if it's flawed and has been since the day they opened their doors. Each time someone takes a deep breath and plunges into the incredibly huge array of ways and places then can create content and sell items in Second Life, new energy comes to all of us.

Tresor isn't a new business, but they were new to me several weeks ago when I realized the owner of the Charleston Lace sim is also the owner and designer of the beauty that is Tresor. She has a grand ball room where dance and etiquette, old southern gentility and charm abounds, and where the men and women in attendance should dress accordingly. I think it's wonderful that she makes sure you can do exactly that with a free gift just waiting for either gender, so you're ready to kick up your shoes.

I want to keep a fair sense of pacing with the various sponsors who've been so wonderfully generous in their sharing of items. It's like a Round Robin, except so far, I do it by a sense of intuition and not writing it on paper I imagine if I were slightly more organized or had someone who could organize me, I might have a pattern and people would know when to look for what new releases. I just have too much of the random free-spirited streak in me to be too hooked on schedules.

I've had a thing lately for morphing items that come as one thing and become something else. I also like getting men's items and putting them to use as items useful to me. The bracelet I have in this series is the Men's Pinwheel Ring from Chop Zuey but with it sized up a couple of times, voila. It's a delicate silver and stones bracelet suited to the outfit. I don't always keep everything neat and tidy, but I do feel like I give a little bit of me to everyone who shares a little bit of them with me. Life is fun like that.

I'm blessed and so happy to share that blessing with you. Live! Laugh! Love!

Where Are Your Treasures? -- Featuring Tresor

If you asked me this question, I would say the answer lies all around me in real space and virtual space. The answer is a who, not a what, and you are part of that who. How could that be possible? I don't know you specifically. I know I do not. I know you make time to read this, these very words, and for that fact alone, I treasure you.

As I get to know someone more, it often means I also give greater value to that person. Over time, some relationships feel bound by steel, forged in the fire of life's great ups and downs. Other relationships stick together like a spider's web. The tiny tendril of web they secrete offers one of the strongest fibers known to man.

(reminds me of a scene in Hitchcock's The Birds)

Sadly, the reverse can happen. If a relationship begins in strength but finds it's tethers tested with loss of trust, the longer the relationship exists, the more it might fray or tangle. The only good I see in this comes from the fact that we know it happens and can compare the not so great moments to the great ones and realize how incredible the good moments are.

Most metals break down. Many fibers fray. If I considered one of the metals as a treasure to me, I realize that in time, the metal would oxidize and no matter how beautiful and shiny it is now, sometime long from now, those features would no longer be true. Thankfully not all metals disintegrate. In like manner, not all fibers fray.

I know when I treasure something, I take good care of it. I put more time into making sure it lasts. If I put a little heart into it, I might make the treasure more valuable and able to last longer. This happens to be true for both things and people.

Knowing that a little effort goes a long way with easily seen visual things like tarnished silver shining once again after polishing it, I think the inference to things less easily seen might be made. I won't see a physical shine if I make time to call and talk to one of my sons, but I know it makes a difference in his life and in mine.

I believe some people would share different answers to the treasure question. That's okay. We're all wired differently. Wherever you find your treasure, I hope you remember its value and make time to hold it close. Keep it shiny. Make sure it knows it's treasured. Live! Laugh! Love!

Androgynous Fun -- Featuring Tresor and Dot-Be Fashion

I used to style some of the men's clothing included in sample packs or hunt packs and things like this. Over time and because of time constraints, I got away from doing so. Last year, the 2012/2013 season, androgyny was part of the fashion movement.

But like most things in fashion, it comes and goes as the 'it' look. As with most fashion, a few people hold on to each detail that comes along and nothing ever goes completely out of style as a result. I like it when I see women in something traditionally designed for men...

7. {{BSD Design Studio}}: Summer Love Special Red Edition
8. Miamai Poses

I like seeing the reverse as well. I imagine all types of men have used women's attire at some time or another for all sorts of reasons, whether it was a practical joke, a fetish, or simply part of their personality. For me, someone who wears garments that are traditionally female...

Can look super hawt when they pair the feminine look with their own masculinity. An example might be the way Mel Gibson looked in the movie Braveheart some many years ago. (If you're too young to know this movie, go and rent it. It's THAT good, and timeless.)

Others may really appreciate a dandy way of dressing for men. The song Yankee Doodle Dandy actually pays homage to this style of dress, because at the time, it was not uncommon at all for men to have as much invested in their attire as the women, and very popular they were too.

I think it's wonderful that Second Life gives all of us the freedom to explore many facets of ourselves, our interests, our personal sense of style, but more so, our personal sense of who we are and in a place that likely pressures less than the world off line would press if making the same choices there.

I'm thankful for the brilliant options, the freedom of expression, the many ways sexuality can be shared, expressed and enjoyed via Second Life. I'm glad there are designers from all over the world sharing their curiosities, skills, diversity and open minded ways.

Whether I'm in a tuxedo by Tresor, which I found in a gift box at the Charleston Ball Room, or wearing the brilliant sleeveless sweater dress Linde from Dot-Be Fashion, I find my niche easily in this Second Life. I can mix and match lifestyle choices as easily as I can mix and match clothing. That's priceless.

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things -- Featuring Tresor, [[Masoom]], Zanze, Lyrical Bizarre, {{BSD Design Studio}} and DIRVAL

While I was away, it seemed the US Government decided to shut down on 1 October. We knew this was the military new year having been military all the years we've been together but we did not predict they'd actually shut down. It's often a threat, rarely actually happens.

He went in to work, signed the pink slip, made it official, and came home after only being at work one day. When he was on vacation, his mind was set to 'relax' and he is the type of person who has to make himself relax But having to come home again after thinking 'work' was a challenge for him.

In the meantime, I learned how quickly the body breaks down with every virus coming and going while taking this Lupron. It's something of great value to me, to go through with this, but I wasn't immediately expecting a flu virus or anything else for that matter.

I came home passionately ready to get back to work. As you can see by the photos I've shot, I've been back to the shore. I rarely leave it behind for long, and I wanted to 'catch up' on September, and events before they'd come and gone, in the midst of this new growly virus.

There's some irony to the whole virus thing really. We're pretty sure it's a result of numerous medications over the years, a lot of them antibiotics, that I've almost never gotten the common childhood diseases. I bypass them in favor of the big stuff, I guess. Whee!

I've sat down to work on photos and blogging a few times in the past week, with that voice in my head pushing me to catch up, and get things back under what I would call control. Each time I thought I was ready full steam ahead, I wasn't so sure after I sat up and began the process.

So you've seen me in Second Life for little bits and pieces. And the glorious thing to me is the relationships that continue to buffet my world from Second Life and Facebook. No matter what's going wrong or right, there are really dear people waiting to hear about it, share in it, and that's precious.

After a Whole Do-see-do -- Spin Your Partner -- Featuring Charleston Enterprises and Miss Charleston Belle

I not usually nearly so upsidaisies, up one minute down the next, but it's my current health and life and in that, I find I have myself in check, double check and triple check. I want to make sure I represent those who have been so kind in offering me support in the best light possible, with all the information they want shared.

In recent weeks, I posted a note about the redo of the Miss Charleston Belle Pageant. The first time I published something here, it was following a conversation with Ms. Sagia Monroe. It's her agency that has been working behind the scenes to make this pageant happen.

When we spoke, she shared some broad strokes of why there were a few inconsistencies related to the first Miss Charleston Belle that I'd read about as have many of you, and the rationale behind the decision to redo the contest.

I really only spoke to the one person, as I was a curious bystander at the time, nothing more. Since that time, I've joined the group of leaders who organize events, host some dynamic stores, and offer beautiful services as well as goods on the Charleston Enterprises property. I've heard a few others explain the redo of the Pageant, and for what they've shared, I understand that there were inconsistencies the first time.

To be fair to those women who'd committed to the pageant and had no idea about the behind the scenes conflict, the Charleston Enterprises awarded those women who'd placed in the first pageant with the Linden prizes related to first, second and third places. Then they announced to those ladies that there had been inconsistencies, they were welcome to participate as they revamped and offered the redo to the public as a whole.

That brings me up to date I think. The pageant will take place much like the first time through, with prizes and all that people love about pageants. Eventually, a new "Miss Charleston Belle" will be crowned. I'm happy to be working with the people who make the sim Charleston Belle beautiful, and some of the designers are sponsors on my blog now, from the Charleston Lace Premiere Shopping District.

For more information, you can visit the sim, talk to those involved, and see where you might find a niche and get plugged in...

I apologize for printing a blog with some of this shared before, then removing it. I heard from a couple of people involved in the original pageant who felt I had not presented both sides of the information and had in fact only spoken to one person. That was true. I'd only spoken to Sagia Monroe. And way way back in Journalism class, I remember the 'sources' to prove your prose class, where it always took more than one source to print an article.

Now that I have spoken to the owners, the managers of the store and the property and the manager of the modeling company who hosts the pageant, I feel like I'm more equipped to post this blog note, as a means of supporting the Charleston Belle property and all the pageantry and fun to come.

Thanks for your patience!

Home Sweet Home - Featuring A.F.I Designs, Luziefee, Hairoin and Tresor

There's a saying - Your Home Is Where Your Heart Is - and I think it's an interesting bit of truth, especially since many of us have created virtual world homes that mean as much if not more to those who've done so, and in essence their whole life exists in text and pixels and connecting people.

I really never was keen on the idea of a personal home. I have owned two very small homes along my SL journey, both of which fit on a 512x512 parcel. This was the size the Lindens offered rent free for members who joined when I joined.

Even way back when SL was much smaller as far as land mass would take you, and the few groups that gathered like-minded people, I enjoyed those few locations more than I ever did the 512x512 piece. I needed to feel people's energy, highs and lows, and be a part of something bigger than myself.

I've shared more of my heart and soul in my Second Life than with many who would know me from my life offline. Due to circumstances I do not control, it's very rare for me to travel to visit family, to go 'home' for the holidays or attend special events like weddings and graduations.

Maybe that's why I really need this world we share. I've met others, many many others, who also deal with health issues and have their world and their home at their fingertips. I'm not special in that regard, just one of many who learned how to distract myself in a computer so I did not dwell on the less fortunate details.

There was a time when people online would see another person stressing out about some activity in their online world and in text, the one person would tell the other to 'GET A LIFE'. It was meant as an insult, to their intelligence, to their ability to actively accomplish something off line, and to imply all sorts of rudeness.

Times have changed in that regard. Many people make this world their life for many reasons. Who am I to judge when a person can or cannot function in society that's beyond the virtual world where I know them? If I judge harshly, I should be prepared to be judged harshly. I prefer to accept what I see and hear until such a time may come where I learn it wasn't real or truthful.

I've heard the phrase a number of times in my many explorations. Some things I've done were for the pure fun of it, role-play and all sorts of imaginative things. They resembled things I'd done as a younger woman, like Dungeons and Dragons, only pixelated and more intense.
