Say Something.. Featuring ::Sweet Intoxication:: and .:JUMO:. from .PENUMBRA. Fashion Week

"Say Something" by a Great Big World

Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'll be the one, if you want me to
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

And I am feeling so small
It was over my head
I know nothing at all

And I will stumble and fall I'm still learning to love Just starting to crawl

Say something, I'm giving up on you
I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
Anywhere I would've followed you
Say something, I'm giving up on you

And I will swallow my pride
You're the one that I love
And I'm saying goodbye

Say something, I'm giving up on you
And I'm sorry that I couldn't get to you
And anywhere I would've followed you (Oh-oh-oh-oh)
Say something, I'm giving up on you

Say something, I'm giving up on you
Say something...
~Meaning (1 interpretation):

When your having trouble in a relationship and you know that things are coming to an end but you want so badly to hang and make it work. You want to be "the one" for them but only if they want to accept you as theirs. You will do anything for them, follow them wherever they go but they wont do the same. You feel like you're the only one in the relationship trying to make it work. It seems like the other person has no hope but you want them to say something, anything to make you stay and keep on fighting. All these overwhelming feelings make you feel so small. Going into the relationship you didn't know what you were getting your self into. You have never loved like this before, there are going to be obstacles, you will stumble and fall but you will learn and keep going. After all the pleading and asking them to stay you just cant keep going, you are finally giving up, you are sorry that you couldn't get them to stay. I love you but I need to swallow my pride, accept defeat, and say goodbye.

How often do you experience this? It seems to me that it happens more often online then in my life off line, but maybe that's because I'm almost house bound and so I'm more likely to seek out friends online than someone who lives out beyond their front door. It's a maudlin song, but it's so deeply meaningful, intense, and something I can easily access personally because I've been through it. I've heard it sung on The Voice. I've seen it danced on So You Think You Can Dance. I heard it on two different music awards shows, once when it was just A Great Big World singing it and then again, when Cristina Aguilara sang it with them. It's personal. It's emotional. It speaks to me.

I don't know why it's been in my heart and head all day but it has. Even as I set up for photos and styled and had my personal time on my little work dais high in the sky over Second Life, I hummed it. There's a link on my wall that I found earlier on Facebook of an older gentleman sitting at a piano and he's playing and singing, on a street corner in somewhere USA.

What am I wearing? It looks so different from the photos I often take of Caryn. ::Sweet Intoxication:: (a great name for a store I think!) created the urban outfit for .PENUMBRA. Fashion Week. And because it had a mini skirt, I got to wear heels to show you too, Riyadh heels in red from .:JUMO:. I don't know where I found the sim with the dragon painting on the wall. I went to a sim that came up when I typed in the word Urban, but dragons don't really feel urban to me, yet it felt like a great place to take the photos. I hope you enjoy the styling, and the reminiscing sort of emotion accompanying them this morning. Say something...

A Sparkling Sky, A Sparkling Heart -- Feauturing Haute from FASHIONART Faire and ((Crystal Line))

There are some truly gorgeous places in Second Life and most of them appear empty. This is good for a fashion photographer, for great landscapes and backgrounds naturally offering artistry. It's a bit sad to me, however, because every empty sim reminds me that there were once creative people invested there and for whatever reason, they go.
I love the fact that new people are dreaming new dreams. I cheer on success stories, whether it's a new dance hall, a place for people to meet or a gorgeous build that's designed for the most beautiful fashion show. I know that we're all constantly evolving, and in this moment, the people we're touching are meant to be, and in the grand scheme of life, those moments are priceless.
I don't know when the last day of any part of my life will end and a new one begins. I hope that as I evolve and invest in new ideas and meet new friends I find a way to retain the past and the good that's occurred. Maybe the transition from present to past must leave empty cities and unused clubs and other spaces that were beautiful once.
I want to show you this gown, the Haute Starry Sky Dress, another beautiful item from FASHIONART Faire. I thought the sim and location I found for the photos really enunciated the dress designer's theme well. I found an unopened surprise in my inbox, from ((Crystal Line)), the Sweet Bracelet and Ring set. It's always a treat to discover something I have not yet blogged. I combined these new items with favorite pieces from EMO-tions, Baboom Couture and Kyxe Skins & Shapes.

An Incredible Friend AND... - Featuring !Lyrical B!zarre and [Mirror's Enigma]

It's become a special adventure to blog for different designers. When I began blogging, I didn't know a soul. I had a good mentor in Eve Express, a good job and a lot of determination. I begged to blog different designers, so that I could get experience.

I knew what I wanted, where I wanted to go and how I wanted to get there, but that was just the first step. I didn't really know how long it would take to get there, or where there was. That's the ironic thing. Sometimes we all set goals but we're not quite sure when it happens. At least I do.

In this crazy process of sincerely seeking out the opportunity to blog for a whole array of people, I met a whole array of incredible designers. The more I did what I loved, the more people I met and in time, those people became more than business contacts.

One of those people goes by Lyrical Bizzare and she creates some fantastic 'templates' for designers to use. This gown shows some of her latest work, as she's taught herself to create her own mesh. It's a fantastic use of mesh and shiny and glow and elegance. It's a little like Lyrical. Bright and wonderful.

I'm blessed to know the very talented designers, and to work with them and show their skills. I'm also grateful for those who have followed me. As you read this, I'm wishing you a special holiday, wherever you are, whatever your faith. Blessed New Year and everything else.

Kinky and Twisted -- Featuring Finesmith, {{BSD Design Studio}}, Kyxe Skins & Shapes, Carrie's Lingerie, and .::Shellac

I look at models who've experienced more of the modeling world as inspiration. I listen (or read) comments shared by respected modeling educators from all over the grid to learn new ideas. Different things motivate me. I don't know if others react like I do, but when I hear someone say "You can't do it that way." my first reaction tends to be "Oh yeah? Watch me." I've always been like that, on almost any topic, and I find it comes with me into Second Life and into this passion I have for modeling and blogging.

I received this new Geula set from Finesmith today and saw something different in the pieces when I unwrapped them. Maybe it was the nose ring that inspired me. I felt like a South American priestess ready to command the heavens to allow the sun to move across the sky from east to west. I inverted the necklace option from the set and resized it so it fit me as a crown. The priestess came more into focus with that change!

Instead of just one hair design, I decided to mix things up a bit to get the look I wanted. The adorable Chen hair from blackLiquid has two buns and some wispy pieces to frame the face. I used the buns shape, stacked them, and hid the wisps. Then I pulled out Cora from EMO-tions. The long dark and wild ponytail enhanced the story I'm trying to tell. I wasn't sure of how it would work, but the blending took two sweet and innocent styles and allowed them to meld into one, fierce and proud!

When I did vendor pics at Carrie's Lingerie, someone always had to turn away from the camera to get a good butt shot. For this photo, I pumped up the volume to plump my newest lingerie set from Carrie's. This sexy outfit named B.I.T.C.H. oozed power and energy; the priestess in me exuded that aura! I have to share a personal note here as well. The girl for whom this outfit was named, Bitch2Hunt worked for Carrie's when I did in 2011 and does still as far as I know. She was there when I arrived, so she's put a lot of time and effort and love into Carrie's.

{{BSD Design Studio}} designer BabyChampagne created these latest mesh wonders -- I still have no idea how mesh works, much less how to create it and she does her own! -- with spikes on them. They reminded me of some fetish wear, and fit the overall mood. My wild South American Priestess came to life slowly but surely! The new Vixen eyeshadow releases at Kyxe include the new Gold and the Gold Matte lips made me feel whole, and ready to go again to the edge of the world, cry out and call the great sun to rise up... Live! Laugh! Love!

How Hard It Can Be To Say No -- Featuring [Mirror's Enigma] **Prerelease**, .::Shellac::.

Life has a way of teaching us lessons. For me, sometimes, I have to repeat the lesson and repeat the lesson and repeat the lesson. Until... I finally learn the lesson. And sometimes I STILL get it incorrect again later. Ugh!

One of those lessons continues to reappear in my life. I like being involved with so many things and meeting so many people. I really enjoy the building of relationships. To me, they're the only glue holding me together. I feel like some form of symbiosis should exist in all my relationships.

I feel like my world is better and brighter because someone else is in it, and reflexively, I hope that their world is better and brighter because I'm in theirs. I know that love is an action verb and actions speak louder than words. I know that I want to show those I love that I love them in so many ways.

When someone I know, or even someone I don't know, pitches me an idea, a concept, something he or she really wants to accomplish, I get excited with them and for them. If they ask for my help, I feel responsible as a friend to encourage them in any way possible, and that I should get involved.

Somewhere inside me, I know that my relationships don't really hinge on what I do or don't do for my friends. I know there are times they have great ideas and I can cheer them on but don't have to join them or show them my heart by doing something for them. I know this. Yet for me, I struggle with the two letter word - No.

Maybe one has to be twice the age of an old mama dinosaur and in time, I'll learn this lesson once and for all. For now, I ask quite honestly, "How hard can it be to say no?" I really do hope it grows easier one day, but for now, it's not. Live! Laugh! Love!

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things -- Featuring Tresor, [[Masoom]], Zanze, Lyrical Bizarre, {{BSD Design Studio}} and DIRVAL

I came back from the beach, having spent two very special weeks on the shore, to arrive back to the big old word we all know well -- LIFE.

While I was away, it seemed the US Government decided to shut down on 1 October. We knew this was the military new year having been military all the years we've been together but we did not predict they'd actually shut down. It's often a threat, rarely actually happens.

He went in to work, signed the pink slip, made it official, and came home after only being at work one day. When he was on vacation, his mind was set to 'relax' and he is the type of person who has to make himself relax But having to come home again after thinking 'work' was a challenge for him.

In the meantime, I learned how quickly the body breaks down with every virus coming and going while taking this Lupron. It's something of great value to me, to go through with this, but I wasn't immediately expecting a flu virus or anything else for that matter.

I came home passionately ready to get back to work. As you can see by the photos I've shot, I've been back to the shore. I rarely leave it behind for long, and I wanted to 'catch up' on September, and events before they'd come and gone, in the midst of this new growly virus.

There's some irony to the whole virus thing really. We're pretty sure it's a result of numerous medications over the years, a lot of them antibiotics, that I've almost never gotten the common childhood diseases. I bypass them in favor of the big stuff, I guess. Whee!

I've sat down to work on photos and blogging a few times in the past week, with that voice in my head pushing me to catch up, and get things back under what I would call control. Each time I thought I was ready full steam ahead, I wasn't so sure after I sat up and began the process.

So you've seen me in Second Life for little bits and pieces. And the glorious thing to me is the relationships that continue to buffet my world from Second Life and Facebook. No matter what's going wrong or right, there are really dear people waiting to hear about it, share in it, and that's precious.

Autumn Fashion -- Featuring Zanze and ~ghee

It's truly time to take a walk outside, breathe in the fresh air after living in canned air for the summer. Though to be fair, it's still quite warm during the day in my part of the world, but I saw on the news this morning that we might be in the high 50's tonight. For southerners like me, that's called 'COLD.'

4. Angel D-Signs: Piercing
5. Paddling Melody: Ripple Earrings
6. Pure Poison: Silver Tomnia Necklace
7. Tentacio: Winter Leggings - Green
8. [LAP] Poses

It's that time of year when you can wear a cute dress like this Nina Dress from Zanze, pair it with leggins for the cooler part of the day, then slip them off when the sun appears. I like to think of practical things as I'm styling, even if it's a pixel world where anything could exist, so having a versatile little dress like this one makes that kernel of reality that much better for me.

4. Angel D-Signs: Piercing
5. Paddling Melody: Ripple Earrings
6. Pure Poison: Silver Tomnia Necklace
7. Tentacio: Winter Leggings - Green
8. [LAP] Poses

It's not a bad thing at all that this dress made me feel a sense of child-like playfulness. It's one reason I chose to pair the dress with new tennis shoes from Dot-Be. I've only owned four pair of tennis shoes in Second Life, and this now makes five pair.

4. Angel D-Signs: Piercing
5. Paddling Melody: Ripple Earrings
6. Pure Poison: Silver Tomnia Necklace
7. Tentacio: Winter Leggings - Green
8. [LAP] Poses

For me off line, I'm a jeans and tee-shirt kinda girl. Not only that, I rarely get 'dressed' for the day in street clothes. I live in my jammies. I don't have a shopping fetish in Second Life because I'm constantly measuring the money I invest into it.

5. Paddling Melody: Ripple Earrings
6. Pure Poison: Silver Tomnia Necklace
7. Tentacio: Winter Leggings - Green
8. [LAP] Poses

Despite being born without the shopping gene, I do love to have a varied inventory in Second Life full of items that are nothing like what I wear off line. I think that's part of the fantasy for some of us. It's one reason blogging continues to truly thrill me. I get to style 'Barbie' (except we call her Caryn) over and over again.

As a young girl, I had two male siblings and a neighborhood filled with fellas around my age. I didn't have a close female friend in any neighborhood where I lived except when I lived in Delaware for 2 years. Between brothers and neighbors, I ended up very much the wild tomboy, determined to keep up with all of them, and win when I could!

2. Gaeline Mesh Lashes: Fantasia
3. Face Paint: Black Liner
4. Candy Nail: Chidori Gold
5. [Mirror's Enigma]: Azuka Light Skintone
6. Chop Zuey: Venetian Honey
7. Hairoin: Incognito
8. Juicy: Classic Pumps
9. In-Pose!

My mother, as I've shared previously, tended to push me into roles that were non-stereotypical. She probably doesn't realize it, but she joined a group of women who became their own stereo-type in hindsight. Dress up, playing tea party and owning a Barbie were all no-no.

Featuring ~ghee Chinoiserie Gown Paon
1. IKON: Sunrise Eyes Steel Blue Pale
2. Gaeline Mesh Lashes: Fantasia
3. Face Paint: Black Liner
4. Candy Nail: Chidori Gold
5. [Mirror's Enigma]: Azuka Light Skintone
6. Chop Zuey: Venetian Honey
7. Hairoin: Incognito
8. Juicy: Classic Pumps
9. In-Pose!

And whoa is me. If I'd actually done any of those things, I'd surely have grown up to be a girlie-girl. Horror! It helps explain why beautiful clothing in Second Life presents a level of pleasure that might not have been so important if I'd been raised differently.

Featuring ~ghee Chinoiserie Gown Paon
1. IKON: Sunrise Eyes Steel Blue Pale
2. Gaeline Mesh Lashes: Fantasia
3. Face Paint: Black Liner
4. Candy Nail: Chidori Gold
5. [Mirror's Enigma]: Azuka Light Skintone
6. Chop Zuey: Venetian Honey
7. Hairoin: Incognito
8. Juicy: Classic Pumps
9. In-Pose!

I see something glamorous like this Chinoiserie Gown Paon from ~ghee and fairly dance right out of my shoes figuratively speaking. And photos in this case don't do the gown true justice as this gown sparkles and comes alive when I wear it. ~ghee is a new sponsor to my blog and I'm excited to play dress up with more items like this as time passes!

The Unexpected Act of Kindness -- Featuring Evolve 55L Thursday Deal

We all work in situations where we learn the patterns and daily drill of whatever it is we're invested in, work or play, people or art. The probability of patterns repeating encourage us in a way that psychologically, we may not even realize. That dependable thing though gives us stability and comfort and feed our most basic needs.

When we add new things, or meet new people, or any other first time activity, we have little ability to predict what will happen. It's logical to attach some similar thoughts to similar behaviors, so when I add new designers to my blog, I have some idea what to expect because I've worked with other designers. However, I do have to learn the new designer's personal tastes and ways so that I find balance and make myself the most useful.

This past week, Evolve added me to their blogger list. I was thrilled. When I began blogging over a year ago, I worked really hard to find designers who would work with first time bloggers and for those who helped along the way, I will be ever grateful. Some businesses however, seemed so far removed from something I'd ever earn the privilege of doing. Acceptance as a blogger for this company was one of those impossibilities in my thoughts.

Yesterday, the artistic creator behind the scenes at Evolve contacted all her bloggers and did something so unbelievably kind and unexpected that I sat in silent awe and thanksgiving. I know she's a gifted designer. I knew she had earned her reputation through hard work which I admire. I did not know her personally and so I did not know her personality. This unexpected act of kindness opened my eyes to know her a little better, and I hope to share with those who read my blog and follow my Facebook and Flickr - Reign Congrejo goes beyond the standard, and touches lives in a real and personal way.

Thank you, Ms. Reign, from the depth of my heart.

Seeing Life From Different Perspectives -- Featuring Evolve and KL Couture

One of the things they teach us when we attend modeling classes relates to prim and prim placement. Before I ever tried my hand at modeling, I liked what looked good but I did not analyze the things I chose to wear, or worry about how they fit on my shape or any other thing really.

Once I learn about something that's detail oriented, I find myself far more attentive to that thing, and in this case, I became more and more obsessed with having the prims placed at the right spot on the body so the movement works naturally and the outfit is portrayed as well as I know how to make it.

And the thing is, no matter which way our body moves, this detail still remains important. I never thought about how many wardrobe items broke the laws of physics in Second Life. Now, when I prepare for a new look, I spin around, looking at the outfit from many different angles, until I'm sure I have the right perspective.

No matter which way I turn with this Glamorous Red Gown, the dress looks appealing, formal, yet sexy with a tempting tease of flesh under which only a bit of fabric wraps the top part of my body like a ribbon on a package to open. When I walk, it moves around me, swishing secrets, and showcasing the artist who created the gown at Evolve.

When I look at Second Life fashion, I'm always impressed by how many interpretations of a concept there can be on any given topic. This dress also flows smoothly with a whisper of soft cloth moving, but this one reveals even more skin, leaving the left leg bare and more of the upper body bare as well. This Aurore Gown from KL Couture evokes a completely different energy than the other, and that's a wonderful thing. We all want to have lively fun clothing to wear, things to showcase our perspective on any given day, and something that speaks nonverbally to anyone around us.

A Flickering Flame

I have often heard the saying "You're drawn to that like a moth to a flame." It's a warning. Moths try to get close to light for warmth, but if they get too close, their wings are damaged with imminent peril closely ensues. So many things tempt us. We want to be near the warmth of that thing, but no one wants to be burned.

The smallest flickering flame can light the world at night. Such power. I have to be careful that I find balance and moderation so I can enjoy things like cheesecake and shopping in Second Life without getting too close that I get burned. I also carefully seek friendships, business relationships, and connections in Second Life. Occasionally those too can spark like a flame with acuity and power, and on those occasions when it burns, it's painful. Thankfully, I've had far more positive connections than negative ones!

How close should I get to the flame's bright light? I have a few little singe marks on my wings, but for the most part, I have joy and balance. I hope the same is true for you. That warm feeling is so intoxicating whether it comes from shopping or hanging out with the latest trendy crowd. I know I want it. It is so easy to be the moth flitting close to the flickering flame.

VCB Designs and a New Skin by Candy Metal

Yet another skin to review and more by VCB Designs are shared here.

I found the perfect location to snap a few photos of Renesme Buckskin Coat and Outfit. Violet has released an incredible number of items this month and I've only shown you a few. Her sense of style works with everything from the carefree and casual to the elegant and even fanciful.

Tunika from Baboom, Lavina from EMO-tions and Zanze's FREE Floral Headband

I enjoy the compilation of pieces in this photo. The different designers bring quality to Second Life regularly and so much more. I respect them all and feel more alive and elegant in Second Life when I use their products. I think that's how it's supposed to be!

I have the cutest gold headband from Zanze tucked in my bright and wild hair, Lavina in fire from EMO-tions. With the arrival of 2013, EMO-tions has added an array of beautiful new colors in each design and many designs to suit every occasion.

The headband may tease you to check out the new location of Zanze in Zenshi because it's a free gift! If you haven't seen the newest array of content creators gathered in one location and presenting the best of their best exclusive items at this location, you should go and be sure you check out Zanze's collection.

Baboom presents such positive energy drawn into her creations from her special personal spirit. Putting on this Mesh Blue Tunika from Baboom made me feel like running and playing. I found this gorgeous garden and romped in it, letting my hair down, so to speak, and played. All the warmth imbued by these creators flows through me each time I'm blessed with the opportunity to put on their designs.

Siiri: Great New Hair from EMO-tions and Zanze's Cardigan

The wonder of EMO-tions remains in the exquisite creativity that yields a wide range of looks. No matter where I go in Second Life, or what I do or play or say, something from EMO-tions fits the setting.

As I zoom in to show you the dramatic way the braids layer into a full and long ponytail, you're also treated to an up close and personal view of Zanze's newest Cardigan release (black).

As a full length image, from head to toe, you'll see how long Siiri hangs down the back and how long the sweater from Zanze is as well.

Sometimes seeing things from another angle makes it even more appealing and with a slight shift in poses, even more details become visible.

I've been enjoying the many light settings built in to the program itself and how the lighting affects photos. Using a basic monochrome look with primarily greys then adding unique colors in the unique make-up from Face Paint and brilliant blue in the jewelry from Chop  Zuey all works towards my goal of making a basic photo evolve into art.

Dot-Be Fashion, Shiki, Luminesse, ~Shadow Moon~ and {Co*Motion} PMVH

EvaAlmighty strikes again, this time with a super Valentine hunt. From time to time, I will be sharing items from various designers that are part of the hunt. I try to remember to paste the logo for an event on each photo to help differentiate between events.

I have the joy of working with Dot-Be Fashion and love BonieFacio's casual comfort style. I pulled on a pair of jeans from one of his new releases this month, "GianCarlo" to go with the heart hoodie he submitted for PMVH.

One of the things I like best about Shiki is how they treat their group members. I've been to this store several times and found myself lost in the vastness of this designer's creative mind. The floral outfit seen here includes the dress and unique applique of flowers across the chest. Beyond searching for hunt items, I encourage you to visit Shiki. If their style suits your aesthetic, you will find a thousand ideas to try and enjoy.

The outfit comes from ~Shadow Moon~, complete from head to toe. And keeping with the Valentine theme, hearts appear several times in the cardigan, and warm reds remind me of a pulsing heartbeat that quickens when true love appears. I particularly like this boot/shoe. I wore leggings over almost everything in the year following the release of Flashdance, all those years ago.

You'll find the necklace hidden at Luminesse. I've learned a lot about fashion in the past year or so, and realize now that there are so many things yet to learn. A total image should feel right as well as look right, and the wrong jewelry or hair choice or heels just spoils the best of efforts. With such a great casual look, the necklace Luminesse provided worked perfectly, enhancing the casual look rather than clashing with it.

Every day, new designers appear on Second Life, and every day that means we have more options for so many different things. I'd not heard of the store {Co*motion} till I joined this hunt. I also have not worked with many items or props that helped set a pose other than furniture. I'll hold your heart in my hand... this heart comes with one of many of {Co*Motion}'s static poses.

Another outfit, I styled comes from Liv-Glam. I cannot say enough to share how I feel about the designer and staff team at this store. I count my blessings each day when I have the privilege of trying a new item, looking at ideas as a work in progress, and getting to know a group of amazing people in the process.

The Shannel works many layers into one outfit. From head to toe, both mesh and system pieces add detail to the overall look. I particularly enjoy the jacket design. Tidbits like that always catch my eye, and as much as each of us look towards ways we can find a unique perspective in what could be a repetitive environment, such tidbits remain a constant extra special touch from Liv-Glam.
