Wanderlust and My Passion For Life -- Featuring Miamai w/Donna Florin and Moondance Boutique from Fashion for Life, EMO-tions, Face Paint, and BowChicka Atame

I've been on my way a while now. I don't know exactly when the journey began and I have no idea how I'll know when the journey ends. When I think of the word journey, I think of the great author J.R.R. Tolkien The Hobbit: The Unexpected Journey. If you're not a fan of Middle Earth, and the stories of Bilbo and later Frodo Baggins, I suppose you wouldn't understand the reference.

 Hobbits and we humans find ourselves traveling before we know we're going somewhere at times, and sometimes long after we think we've arrived, we're still working on the how or what or why we took off in the first place. Maybe we're just tiny little critters that like to hop lily pad to lily pad.

Many of the things I've chosen to do since I came into this world 45 years ago relate to my abhorrence of all things boring. Before you could begin the word with that very first letter, b... I'm outta here. If I stay still, and get bored, I'm afraid I'd be the first one picked up in the paddy wagon and taken to the nice room with the soft white walls where I could bang my head safely all day and through the night.

I took leave of absence from my brain this past few months. And today, I looked up and 6 months had passed. I had a real life altering December, and felt unable to make commitments or promises to anyone in my virtual world or otherwise. I'd be there, maybe. Now I'm coming out of a drug induced stupor and realize that there's a whole world of living to be done, and yes, baby steps. I don't want to overdo.

But who wants to take tiny steps when there's so much to see and try and taste and touch? It's ironic getting involved in this year's Relay for Life - http://www.relayforlife.org/getinvolved/donate/ - I'd have never expected to be one of the statistics. I knew my kidney issue. I was born with it. We're old friends. This big Cancer thing was shockingly in my face and wow, what a wallop.

So when I put on Donna Florin, already passed on to a happier place, a dress she created and one that Miamai resurrected to raise money for Cancer research, I had a moment or three of many thoughts. Gratitude for doctors who with hopeful optimism, removed my tumor, happiness for family and friends like the people at Miamai who thought to release a few of Donna Florin's favorite things, and joy to know that so many of the people I call friend online are people who also get involved and invested in this huge successful project.

I've been asked, "If you blog for them, how do you donate?" I donate directly to the Relay for Life website. I've tried to include it on most of my FFL posts and will continue to post it for everyone's access. You can buy items in world AND donate to the .org donation place too. The more the better, and chances are, one day soon, people I know or people who come along in a generation after me won't be talking about how scary the big C is.

I have Moondance Boutique's jewelry Oscar Nails and Jewelry set, one of two that are also part of FFL. Additionally, I have the last of the recent windblown hair looks EMO-tions released this past week. Windblown describes more than my hair. It feels like Wanderlust (the theme of Fashion for Life on SL) and part of that has taken root in my hair, while the rest has become me and one with my spirit. I'm happy to show new Face Paint items as well as heels from BowChicka Atame.

One With the Sea -- Featuring Lybra, >Asset<, F I N E S M I T H, and Moondance Boutique

I love the quality of everything I've seen at Lybra so far and I've only just begun to explore. The gown looks like ripples of water lapping at a shore and I love the sea.

Sweet and So So Sexy Pink -- Featuring Zanze from PENUMBRA, {{BSD Design Studio}} and Face Paint

Hopping from one extreme to the next feels a little like riding a well timed ride at a theme park. There are calm parts that lull you into thinking things are safe and there are twists and turns and tunnels to lure you away from that fragile feeling of comfort. And it's FUN! We do it deliberately. The styles I've put together today made me feel a bit like that, and again, so much FUN!

This shear little mini comes from Zanze and a very dear friend Zzoie Zee. She's one of those dynamic forces in Second Life that seems to always be doing something, creative things, business things, building things. One thing that sets her apart from others who might be as busy...

She's never seemed cross or depressed or lost or moody and I've never once heard a single ounce of gossip about her or the places she's involved and invested herself. I consider her a treasure and when I get to wear something she's created, I consider that a treat.

I didn't over accessorize this design because of how it's originally designed. There's the pink sheer that makes it a very wicked evening club mini or a sexy bit of lingerie perfect to tempt that special someone. There are also ruffled pieces in several offsetting colors, metallic in nature. It's lovely in the soft femininity it represents and a part of PENUMBRA Fashion Week.

Every time I look into my Easter Market Basket, I find some new little surprises. I love the pose props that different designers release around different holidays.

The bunny from *~Aphrodite Shop~* in the first photo has it's own nestle pose built into it. I guess in the absence of a man to cuddle, the bunny works well![CIRCA] Provided the props on either side of the bunny, and have other spring seasonal props for sale.

All the fun props needed a spring outfit to go with it, and I used the short dress from *Lavanda Chic* - also from Easter Market, new hair from EMO-tions called Rula, and the Runway Perfect Hunt jewelry set from Chop Zuey.

I also accidentally discovered a buried treasure, the bare feet from AIDORU. I didn't know I had them til now and I'm so glad I do, as bare feet are perfect in Spring!

Across the World -- Featuring from Japan Fair Salon de GLOW, Air Koto, and Kokihi

This week's work with the JAPAN FAIR 2014 had me over on Google doing some research to learn about the dresses and their significance and the culture behind the beautiful items I have been blogging.

There's something beautifully fascinating to me about every place in the world away from the US. I love my country. I also love learning new things about the world as a whole and people from every corner of the earth.

I hope you've been enjoying the fair and seen some items on my blog as well as others' to be tempted to go and visit. This morning, a notice went out that said so far, they'd raised over 800,000 dollars for the charity they're promoting, Shelter Box.

Every time I've been a part of a charity based event, I've felt a sense of connecting with the world beyond my own front door. With this culturally influenced fair, I feel that way even more. I'm wearing clothing from designers I'd never known and seeing all the colors of the rainbow in the creation of garments and items suited to the theme.

Salon de GLOW provided the hair. A beautiful pair of glasses that I would love to own off line in my world from Air Koto added to the look. And the bright layers of fabric for this kimono from Kokihi made me feel like I belonged across the globe in an entirely different world.

Monochrome and a Pop Of Color -- Featuring from SAVIAD - Gizza and PosESioN -- Plus EMO-tions and Kyxe

Here it is, early in the wee hours of a new day or late at the end of an old day. I suppose it depends on perspective. I haven't had the motivation or energy to do such a flurry of blog posts and styles as I have this past 10 days or so. I embrace the energy when it comes, feed off of it, and if it flits away again, I am getting used to that too.

This style from Gizza, the Lolita Dress, comes with everything right in one package, the top, the skirt, the leggings, the heels and the hat all work together to form a montage of monochrome pieces.

I edited the butterflies on both the hat and waist to add a pop of fresh vibrant spring color. New no. 7 from the Skin Fair provided for the brilliantly colored lips and a recent release from EMO-tions also matched, even flow with the other tints of brown and beige.

A new 'Face' comes to Kyxe Skins & Shapes soon, Candice, and I'll share her with you a few times. I thought oh la la, I want to show you this latest bit of art, then realized the hat hid so many of the features, so be teased this time and next time you'll see a wee bit more.

Elegance And I -- Featuring Miamai's Fashion Pride Gown Plus [AMARELO MANGO], [ChicZafari] and Kyxe

From time to time, I find myself styling different looks that push me away from my comfort zone. While this is probably healthy for all of us, online or not, it's more challenging and always leaves me ready to come home to my personal aesthetic.

Many stores offer customers an array of styles, so that whatever YOUR personal aesthetic, you'll find something there that suits your needs. Miamai is one of those stores, and this elegant gown comes from the creative mind that built Miamai into the fashion success it is today.

I've been to Miamai a number of times over the past few years, shopping randomly or searching for something specific, and I found it. There are poses, avatar accessories, clothing, and when referencing clothing, a massive array of styles of clothing, and so much more.

There are times I've been to shop there and found myself literally lost. It was a good sort of lost, though. It gave me time to explore nooks and crannies I hadn't seen before.

Tonight I'm sharing a gown from Miama that was created for the Fashion Pride event. It won't be difficult to find this special gown and I hope you're inspired to own one of your own.

Walkin` In a Winter Wonderland -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, EMO-tions, Luziefee, and .::Shellack

The limited gown from A.F.I Designs shows you the whimsy and frolic that's synonymous with this time of year. I think I look suitable to be cast in a new winter movie, or dressed perfectly for a visit to the snow park at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. I just need to find my date!

The dress itself snows. I found it a clever addition that no designer off line could really ever do. Sure they could have a confetti cup stored somewhere in the bell of the gown, but then what would the model have to do? And wherever you put the mechanics, it would likely stretch material unusually.

When I visited Rockefeller Plaza, it was December 27, and it was snowing. It was so cold, I felt like it was possible we'd get frost bite just standing there watching the skaters. Certainly this dress would be precious to wear there, but comfortable in the snow? Absolutely not!

In that regard, it makes my online world so much livelier. That week in New York between Christmas and New Year, it never got above 22 degrees. We shivered our timbers till they could not shiver anymore. And cute little dresses were pushed aside in favor of wiser winter wear.

When Dreams May Come -- Featuring MADesigns, KL Couture, and [Mirror's Enigma}

Each step I take on this amazing journey called life brings me to new experiences, new people, and new challenges. Sometimes I find the path the most taxing and sometimes it seems sprinkled with pixie dust and nearly magical in it's simplicity and beauty. I keep each new detail as precious, because in the light or in the darkness, there are treasures to be discovered. When I first began this modeling foray, it was meant to be a distraction for a little time and then...

Little by little, it stole bits of my heart. I wanted to achieve this goal, and then another goal came along and I wanted to reach it. Before long, the other things I did in Second Life were the distraction and this thing I do now was my primary focus. I loved the other wheres I'd been but I don't think I've ever had the same passion for projects and progress like I do now with modeling and blogging. And despite the fact that my health limits me from casting for shows or making appointments...

I still find ways to really get involved in things behind the scenes. And then there is this thing I'm doing right now. Typing. Text. My blog. I feel like I've missed out on something if I don't write in it at least once a day. It's become a journal of sorts. I've always thought that journals were a great way to process life and help deal with all the things that we all face daily but I haven't really been a consistent journal keeper till I became a blogger. I didn't know that it would lead...

In the direction it has taken me till I was already on my way there. Each time I'm welcome to a new group to blog, I thrill at the opportunity. As I've grown in my time in Second Life modeling and blogging, new opportunities have come. This week, I had a wonderful conversation with the blog coordinator for KMADD and then Maddox Dupont, the designer behind MADesigns and overwhelmed with the privilege to blog for his products.

I think we all have goals. Some of us are more vocal about them, and sometimes we growl when we cannot achieve them. When they do come to pass, and when dreams come true, it's also a treat to have friends with which to share these triumphs. I eagerly listen for and watch for your joyful moments, and appreciate your support and cheering when I find mine. Live! Laugh! Love!

Sitting in traffic may be the worst place to wait before or after a long day at work, and it's a necessity for so many, no way to avoid it. Lines at the bank, lines at the grocery store, lines in the Emergency Room, and lines at theme parts offer just a few examples of the many places we're forced to wait.

Sometimes the wait makes it worth it. If you eagerly hope to try the newest roller coaster, your willingness to wait in a ridiculously long line may seem like a small price to pay. If you're eager to welcome a new child into the world, the nine months feels worth it.

Many places have automated services, utilizing the best in technological advances, and shortened time for whatever service they supplied. I don't think anyone's created a way to speed up traffic going into or out of Washington, DC yet. I can barely imagine it.

By the time we figure in the amount of time we've waited for something to occur against the occurrence itself, we can identify whether it was worth the wait. Some of it is mathematical and some of it is emotional, but we live and learn. Once we've decided it's not worth the wait, we try other things.

The military uses the phrase "Hurry up and wait" from the moment you begin your first day at boot camp to the last day of your retirement. You must arrive anywhere you're expected on time. However, this does not mean THEY are ready for you and will begin on time.

Time and an avid care not to waste it, nor to waste others time defines part of a whole list of things that make someone professional, appear that they care, and responsible. Online, many jobs including those in the fashion industry, expect timely participation.

And despite the hiccups of connections dropped and other techno details we cannot avoid, awareness of the value of time will help you achieve your fashion dreams, as a model, designer, or really anything else. Sometimes it will feel exactly like, "Hurry up... and wait." but it's worth it.

Androgynous Fun -- Featuring Tresor and Dot-Be Fashion

I used to style some of the men's clothing included in sample packs or hunt packs and things like this. Over time and because of time constraints, I got away from doing so. Last year, the 2012/2013 season, androgyny was part of the fashion movement.

Others may really appreciate a dandy way of dressing for men. The song Yankee Doodle Dandy actually pays homage to this style of dress, because at the time, it was not uncommon at all for men to have as much invested in their attire as the women, and very popular they were too.

I think it's wonderful that Second Life gives all of us the freedom to explore many facets of ourselves, our interests, our personal sense of style, but more so, our personal sense of who we are and in a place that likely pressures less than the world off line would press if making the same choices there.

I'm thankful for the brilliant options, the freedom of expression, the many ways sexuality can be shared, expressed and enjoyed via Second Life. I'm glad there are designers from all over the world sharing their curiosities, skills, diversity and open minded ways.

Whether I'm in a tuxedo by Tresor, which I found in a gift box at the Charleston Ball Room, or wearing the brilliant sleeveless sweater dress Linde from Dot-Be Fashion, I find my niche easily in this Second Life. I can mix and match lifestyle choices as easily as I can mix and match clothing. That's priceless.

I'm Going Crazy -- Featuring Evolve, Zanze and Hairoin

A little song I learned at camp years ago began with the words, "I'm going crazy, doncha wanna come along..." It's a playful song, full of energy and perfect for camp age kids everywhere. It's also a state of mind that I feel I've manifested in the past few weeks.

When this first happened, it freaked me out a little, to be honest. Now it feels like part of my world. I think anyone with any handicap in our world who has friends, supporters, family on their side have the chance to overcome the handicap. It's not easy but it's possible.

Part of me feels responsible to protect the world from my ditzy-ness. I want to hold up a shield so I don't negatively influence anyone. In a business where I've eagerly sought to be ultra professional, I now feel like I should be extra cautious so my ditzy doesn't drain away any respect I may have earned.

I'm really grateful for the people who love me when it's easy to love me. I'm more grateful for those who can love me when it's not so easy. I know I cannot change the physiological changes that occur when any 'body' ingests certain medications so I feel like apologizing for it doesn't make sense.

I can't tell you when I'll find 'normal' again. I also don't know if 'normal' is what I want anyway. I like the roller coaster we call life. I embrace the changes as they come and as they go. I work very hard to keep a positive point of view and share it with you.

One thing I control is the way I look at life, lead my life and deal with what life offers, and I truly want to share the silver linings in all ways. Blessings!

Did You Ever See a Lassie... -- Featuring Evolve, Finesmith, and Face Paint

Every day, or at least most days, I work hard to put together at least one new look styled, and take a series of photos. I learn something new about photography, or a new designer, or something comes along and helps me with what I do.

It's a little like being a star. You never know what you're going to be wearing and sometimes, it doesn't even look quite like you. I have enjoyed trying out new skins this week from several new designers as well as clothing from a designer whom I've blogged before, but not their clothing!

In this set of photos, I've got a gown on from Finesmith as well as Finesmith jewelry. I've also got on Kyxe's Laura Shape and Laura Skin by Kyxe Angel. I got the chance to show you this skin as a result of good friendships and word of mouth, what a privilege. Playing a role, being something lovely in hopes of helping introduce new designers like Kyxe Angel or support designers like yula Finesmith who've been around Second Life a long time.

Besides working for some of the designers I've met, I also hear advice from them on many topics, almost always on the subject of fashion. This week, Ms. Reign who owns Evolve, suggested I try Deeses Skins to wear when I work in her store. I went to Deeses and tried on every skin they have as she had asked me to to. I joined the group and then found there was a free skin as a part of that group membership. I put it on, and really liked it.

When I change shapes and skins for different designers, I don't mind. My brand is Caryn, yes. I'm marketing myself as well as helping support an array of creative people. Ultimately, my brand is what's inside my head and heart. To me, my greatest responsibility to my name is to keep my commitments, to tell you and everyone else I speak to at any time (not just when I'm at work) the truth.

If I'm true to me, regardless what the avi looks like, I hope I've earned enough trust and respect that encourages those who know me to enjoy what I present. If I don't care for something or someone, I take care of conflicts privately. If I don't have something kind or thoughtful to say, I just won't say it. I care about what I do. I want to make Face Paint, and all the other companies who've let me represent them in some way, shine as brightly as possible. When I do so, the woman behind the pretty pixels gets to shine too.
