Sometimes I Wonder - Featuring Fashion For Life: Prism and Deluxe Body Factory, Featuring October's 4Seasons Skin Fair 2016, Featuring NEW Chop Zuey

I read this week that Justin Bieber wore a shirt that said, "Bigger Than Satan" on the back and I just had to wonder. Even if you're someone who doesn't believe in anything except self, wouldn't you consider wearing something like that to be stirring some sort of energy and isn't the potential that you're stirring not so great energy in your teapot?
I have a very open mind when it comes to faith. It's a very personal thing for me, so I respect your right to your personal choices too. Even those choices that make me wonder. His choice to wear such a shirt, well it's his right to express himself. I've always been the type of person that thought positive energy translates to encouraging others. I just don't know how someone could do that when they were deliberately poking at the darker energy of this world. I imagine there are a kajillion things I don't understand. That's just one of them. Hmmm...

In my own little way, my positive energy gets stirred every time I come here to share something. It may be 'only' a video game but in this video game, I've seen lives changed, hearts mended, and souls soaring. I've seen people with little self esteem able to spread their wings and fly. I've seen something as serious as the fight for the cure and the American Cancer Society, Relay For Life and the in world Fashion For Life crew sponsor an event year after year that raises real money, real awareness and makes a real difference. YOU can get involved in this special event right NOW. Visit the Fashion For Life event and donate, shop, share. I'm also always quick to support friends and friendship and in so much as I can hopefully make a small difference, I happily and proudly wear ONLY October's 4Seasons skins. The one I'm sporting for this set of photos is from Skin Fair 2016, Catalina in the Papavar tone. It's the Natural skin with Dark Brown brows. It's a perfect tapestry for makeup layers like the one I chose from the Fashion For Life event. And no outfit would be complete without great jewelry. I can always and ever find something new and fun at Chop Zuey like the Love Knot earrings. I'm just one little me in a world of people doing whatever they do. I hope that the little that I do makes a warm and wonderful difference in a life today. Pass it on!

Sadly Saying Farewell To FFL 2014 -- Featuring Baboom! from Fashion For Life, Tchelo's from Summer Fashion Festival; New from Liv-Glam, Gaeline and KMADD/Moda

I'm always just a little sad when an event comes to its end but today, it's just a little more sad than the usual. Fashion For Life has run since the beginning of June and tonight, it closes its doors. I believe it's been a successful endeavor to raise money for the Relay For Life/American Cancer Society that are both at the heart of the Fashion For Life project.
I have a sailor's dress and cap from Baboom! that made me smile. I was in the US Navy and remember those caps the boys wore well. In dungarees and boondockers, those hats were so very NOT a fashion statement, but with this cute outfit, Kyra Camel hit it out of the park, and the hat add a saucy playful note to the overall aesthetic. This is the last item I saved to blog for FFL.
In addition, I have a new purse by Tchelo's from Summer Fashion Festival, great SLink related heels from Liv-Glam new this week for sale, brand new released lashes from Gaeline and one of the hair styles I've not yet shown you from KMADD/Moda. The array of new items from around the grid fit together like that 'playing Barbie' puzzle that I love about blogging! I hope you enjoy.

It's not too late to contribute to the Fashion For Life fundraiser. You can go to the sim, or go to their website: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=37321408&fr_id=61576&pg=personal

Begin At the Beginning -- Featuring Tori's Sin and EnvyMe from Fashion for Life; Featuring Tuckinowaga from Summer Fashion Festival and Gaeline

It means a lot to me when someone pages me and asks if I will review their item for this or that event; this store or that sale venue. There was a time when I cajoled, pleaded, yes even begged for a chance to review items. Everyone begins at the beginning.

In recent weeks, I've been wholly and completely focused on Fashion For Life because above all other things I do in Second Life that takes a business-ish format, I love to work with charities. It just makes me feel like I'm doing something far bigger than me, reaching around a world that I love to live at my fingertips but touching the real people at their desks, in their work place, living their life.

I also have a certain number of designers to whom I've pledged time and commitment to promote new releases on a certain schedule by month, and I want to be sure that in the midst of the special events and the people to whom I've given my word, that I don't begin to drown in folders. (Where's the inventory life jacket? i still haven't found that thing!)

When someone asks me about blogging things now, I offer names of bloggers whom I know, the ones who share here and on blogspot and wordpress and other private paid for blog pages. I also offer to do a note for them here in FB, to help advertise their desire to find good bloggers. If you're a committed blogger, there will always be someone, somewhere, seeking your services and work.

If you'd like me to refer you, I would be happy to do so. Like I said, everyone begins at the beginning. Let me know.

Fashion for Life has run from June 7 and will run til June 30. That means there are only three more days for you to participate. I hope you find time to head over there, if for nothing else than to drop a few pennies into the piggy bank. The money raised goes to the project Relay for Life which in turn raises money for the American Cancer Society. If you do shop, designers have created a tremendous array of fashionable items to buy with proceeds donated to the charity. If you like to donate directly follow this link to do so:

What Does the Fox Say? -- Featuring from Fashion for Life Legal Insanity; Featuring from Summer Fashion Festival Divina

As the Fashion For Life event winds down, I knew I wanted to show you Legal Insanity's exclusive, this Evita gown. I paired it with a cute little hood that makes me think of the "What Does a Fox Say" video. I can't find the creator, fairly sure their not in game anymore. ~le-sigh~

The bolero peeks out from under the dress, and comes from Carrie's Lingerie. Several of her pieces have bolero half jackets with different prints suited to the overall style of that outfit. This particular one comes with Candice.
I love the opportunity to showcase one of BSD Design studios pair of shoes, not even hidden because of the lovely shape of the gown. These are black and white "Love" heels. I'm a sucker for hopeful romance!

The first item I have to show you from Summer Fashion Festival - I wear my sunglasses at night! Divina's sunglasses are just one of many items you'll find at this event.
Please take a few moments to donate to the Fashion For Life, Relay for Life, American Cancer Society:

To Byzantium -- Featuring Chop Zuey from Arts in Hats; sYs from Fashion For Life and {{BSD Design Studio}}

I learned that an event, Arts in Hats, began today and runs through the end of the month and that Chop Zuey had this fascinator hat named Sailing To Byzantium for sale at this event.
http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Boutou/80/65/22

I looked up the poem by William Butler Yeats, learned a bit about it and found the treasured hat that much more a treasure. It's as much jewelry as it is a hat, and beautiful.
Where is your Byzantium, your world to which you sail with grateful cheer knowing that regardless of age, in such a place you find peace?
I wish you all such a place and cherished Belle Roussel, creator at Chop Zuey, for calling to mind such a tangent journey today.

The new shoes Love from {{BSD Design Studio}} peek out from beneath the floor length gown, and wink their beauty at you in black and white.

You'll find the dress from sYs at Fashion For Life which runs through the 20th of this month. You may buy exclusive items like this and in the process support the charity that's raising money for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

Royals -- Featuring from Fashion for Life *Schoen* and JUMO

I don't know if anyone will ever create an actual time machine, but the world that Second Life presents to us all allows us to travel into time, back, forward, sideways, upways and downways. I love putting on flamboyant costume, bold and unique gowns, representations of so many eras of fashion, and embracing them each with love and thought for those who lived in that era.

I put on this brightly colored, wildly adorned dress from Fashion For Life and ahhh'd at it's majesty. It not from Elizabeth's era, but it's one of those gowns that commands attention. You could not be a wall flower wearing *Schoen*'s Auffaellige Rosen. The jewelry comes also from Fashion For Life, by way of the artistry of JUMO, the Faraji set in Emerald.

I've done quite a number of styles from Fashion For Life. It's an event that I passionately hope has been embraced radically, transforming a 'little video game that some people play' to a backdrop to raise millions for research for the cure for cancer. If you haven't visited FFL, you should. Designers worked hard to make it an adventure of fun and shopping, and at heart want the same thing I do, success in the form of financial support for Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society.

Liv-Glam Does Specials! -- Featuring 55L Thursday Liv-Glam; Also Featuring Bliensen+MaiTai from Fashion for Life

This is the other outfit I wanted to share today to say thank you to all the designers out there who do bargains and specials. Liv-Glam has one nearly every day of the week, so whether you're a casual clothing lover and would enjoy something like this top and shorts casual outfit, Save the Hero, one of Liv-Glam's 55L looks...
Or you like club gear, glam and elegant... if you poke into Liv-Glam during each week, you're bound to find something that suits and you might just find it at a price you have to love.
Kandinsky, a relatively new designer to me, created such a plethora of unique items for one of the recent events I did, I set aside some of the pieces so I could use them later, like now. The shoes are called Sansa Black Bootie Heels. If you're a fan of Game of Thrones, you might recognize the name. I think it might be the inspiration behind the heels. Even so, it made me think of her!
I have more to show from Fashion for Life. Bliensen+Mai Tai have several items, and this set of jewelry with color change options, called Yasemine, can be found there. Also this hair style (seen on another blog of mine) by *~Damesfly can also be found there. If you haven't been to see yet, you should!

Bold and a Great Price Too!! Featuring FINESMITH from 55L Thursday and HOLLYHOOD from Fashion For Life

Many weeks come and go where I see special sale items come across my desk so to speak and I want to blog them before the sale occurs, but I'm a little too late or a little too lost. So...
This week I decided to grab a couple of the designers who are doing a little something for all of us (like me) on a budget, and making 55L Thursday items, or 60L weekend items, and thank them!
This dress and just the necklace (the earrings are also sold at FINESMITH, but not part of the 55L deal) are on sale in the color orange tomorrow. The texture of the dress has a sheen to it and the tie at the waist gleams. It's more than just a pretty dress, and it is 55L tomorrow - June 12, 2014!
And those beautiful shoes from HOLLYHOOD are new and found at Fashion For Life, still running thru June 20. If you'd like to donate directly, follow the link below.

In Black and White -- Featuring from Fashion for Life even.flow, [[Masoom]], M&M; Also New ~ghee

It is rare for me to take so many photos, but I did so after spending some time with one of SL's premiere photographers, October Bettencourt.
I lovingly call her Ms. O. or Ms. Oooh, Or Ms. Oh-la-licious.
All of them mean one and the same.
She's absolutely affected my world, offline and on, and I credit her with keeping me somewhat sane over the past months while I dealt with health issues.
I know it takes practice practice practice to get to a point where you do something well.
One day, I hope that I'm half as good at photographs as she is.
It's in her blood...

I'm grateful to each designer who offered their part to this styling:

Making Waves -- Featuring from Fashion for Life !Lyrical B!zarre Templates, Kazimir by Kaerri, *~Damesfly, and {NanTra}, also new {{BSD Design Studio}}

I admit to being a little bit slow when it comes to math and other skills. I might have once known ratios better than I do today, however, I set aside that information once I had to know how many kisses it took to heal little boys broken hearts and other little life tidbits.
I say that because I've done a few things a little less right (meaning wrong, but shhhh) as I transferred my blog information to the beautiful Versus magazine. I was so grateful to be allowed to share my work there, and then facepalms, realized that it's not quite like it's supposed to be.
So I dusted off the trusty dusty calculator and did percentages on a calculator so I could figure out how to convert image size to the other way Versus does it, versus the way (we will henceforth call the wrong way) I did it. I think I have it correct now. I have two photos sized to share there, and one sized ... yes, now you see, the Caryn Ashdene way. Errp.
http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=37321408&fr_id=61576&pg=personal to donate directly -- I'm wearing Waves by Lyrical B!zarre Templates, from Fashion For Life. I also have Kazimir by Kaerri's FFL necklace, poses from {NanTra}'s support of FFL, a beautiful new coif from *~Damesfly at FFL, and Bonne Chance in blue from BSD Design studio.

Glam Gown Girl Featuring from Fashion For Life [[Masoom]] and *~Damesfly, also Featuring FINESMITH

I'm definitely a glam and gown girl. I loved this sexy compilation that [[Masoom]] has for this year's exclusive Fashion For Life item. It's called Affection, and it might garner some of that affection and a little more. The top is shear, and if my hair from *~Damesfly, also from Fashion For Life, wasn't as long as it was over the left shoulder, it would share a little bit more of me than it does currently. Use your imagination.
Kippar, the style of hair I'm wearing, and the bold red lips from SL - Morphine made me feel a bit like a 1950's pinup girl. I just need a little less on from the waist down, right? I used
KaTink poses and the extra bright one is from Manifeste.
FINESMITH is doing a great HUNT right now, and you can find a set of Recolor jewels like this set, if you spend just a little time at the main store. A little time and some gorgeous jewels priced between 50L and 140L, prices unheard of for the ten items you'll find. Who can beat that?
Find Me (#10)

I'm a Kyxe beauty and haven't used another skin since committing exclusively to Kyxe Skins & Shapes. I also seem to only use the mesh eyes from KMADD/Moda, and there are some really incredible options with them! Gaeline puts her mesh lashes on a HUD which makes adjusting them far less a headache. Thank heavens! Now you know a little more about my basics, and my love for the additional pieces I used to put my latest puzzle together. Thanks for tuning in... it means a lot to me.

My special thanks to each designer who made this style possible:

Milestones Featuring from Fashion For Life -AZUL-, Morphine, *~Damesfly and {NanTra}; from Designer Showcase Moondance Boutique

Milestones mean something to us because we can look back at a single moment in life and say, "That's when I ..." Though you might think joining the US Navy at 20 would be a milestone where I could look back and say, "That's when I grew up..." it's not really. That's just when someone else was there to take care of a rather foolish young lady who wasn't wise enough to take care of herself. You could consider getting married at 21 would be that aha moment, "That's when I grew up..." It wasn't then either. But a few months after that, after arriving at my duty station in the Navy in Florida, with my new husband, ready to take on the world, I gave birth to my first son, and that's when I began to grow up, because when you have to stop being the child to take care of a child, at least in my case, it nudged me just enough to realize it was time.
Now, they're gone, grown-up-ish. Moved out of the house and on their own. One spends his days getting his new wife to and from work and trying to sleep and then his nights working at Waffle House. The other one is criss crossing the country with a camp called Winshape, sponsored by the Chick-fil-A Empire. Both seem relatively happy. Both are older than my aha moment, when I knew I had passed childhood and debuted onto the stage of grown-up, and both are haplessly trying to find their balance, to discover that moment that will push them into life in a big shove much like what I shared about myself. I see it. I feel it. I know it every time we talk. And delightfully, though at the time I was a bit sad, my son and his wife got married so that leaves me with a new daughter too, who is also discovering her way into adulthood. She's probably the closest of the three, and the youngest.
Milestones mark moments you never forget, even if it's just you living them. In a world like Second Life, most would say, "It's just a game. There are no life lessons there. If you find life lessons there, maybe you need to GET A LIFE." Well I do understand that point of view, but I don't agree with it. Everyone defines their world to the best of the moment and my health and my beautiful but very small cage in this world only looks better sometimes when I immerse myself in my Second LIFE. I do pay attention to milestones here. I count my friendships joyfully. Professionally though, I pour my heart and soul into what I do. I look at each new chance to meet and work with sponsors a real treat, and now and then, those sponsors were dreams of mine, dreams I knew would take a long time to reach fruition.
No, working with this designer or that doesn't seem nearly as looming large as joining the Navy, getting married, or having my first son. Not all milestones in life are huge. Some happen when only you're awake, in the middle of the night, and you smile to yourself, knowing you finally achieved something. When Mami Jewell said that I could blog for her, it was one of those precious moments, a dream moment come true. This series of photos shows one of AZUL's exclusives for Fashion For Life, Naarnisse. Additionally, another new style from *~Damesefly for Fashion For Life was paired with the gown. I pulled a jewelry set from June's Designer Showcase made by Moondance Boutique and the red Mary Janes from SL - Morphine completed the style. I'm so grateful for what I get to do and who I get to work with. I haven't a clue where the next bit aha moment will happen, but I'm loving every moment of this one.

I am ever grateful to the designers who made this blog possible:

Twerk It -- Featuring [Liv-Glam], FINESMITH and from Fashion For Life - Morphine

Every time you walk into Liv-Glam, you're going to walk into new, fresh innovative and wonderful ideas. There are sales galore so it really doesn't matter what your budget is; something there will fit.

I can't keep up with the amazing pace of releases that come from Liv-Glam and it's classy designers, but I can be in awe of it, and share a little tidbit of it with you.
I'm glad I got to know the owner and several of the designers when it was first building it's brand because I KNOW how much has gone into making this a smashing success.
I pulled together this look with Liv-Glam's Twerk It Like Miley dress, a pair of shoes from the Fashion For Life products from Morphine, and new nail appliers from FINESMITH.

Without these designers, my work would not be possible. Thank you:

Staying Cool -- Featuring from Fashion For Life: Mina, and Two Sexy Hot Releases from Carrie's Lingerie

How does ice cream or frozen yogurt sound right about now? Sherbet? I feel like I'm toasting in an oven and it's the 6th of June. This will be a long summer.
There might be a few activities that could make me forget the heat or embrace it, one or the other. No no, my mind was not going there ----> I meant INNOCENT distractions.
I love working in a small garden. I haven't had one, but maybe this year, I will do a container garden. It's like putting a tiny garden on a table. Simplifies it.
I also love swimming. As soon as I get clearance from my doc, I'm going to the pool. There's one on base nearby, and it can be nuts crazy when filled with squealing children, but I'll tune them out and treasure the cool.
Some people find lingerie cooler than the average day clothing, but lingerie has a way of coming off quickly. Doesn't it? Carrie's Gigi Sherbet is a new release, and both the gown and miniskirt version look as delicious as a cold snow cone in summer. The Flower Sea also came out earlier this spring and it's refreshingly reminiscent of the beach. I paired them both with simple extra elements and Mina's Fashion For Life Femke style. http://www.relayforlife.org/getinvolved/donate/

Thank you for the privilege to work with each of your creations:

Aging Gracefully -- Featuring from Fashion For Life: EMO-tions, *+Crie Style+*, ASC, **Feel** and New From h.m.a.e.m.

I find myself using silver and snow hair lately a lot more than when I first began blogging. The longer I invest in this, the more of me I seem to pour into it. This series of photos shows a really apt version of Karyn c. 2000. Granted, it's 14 years ago. And I no longer coach soccer, ref soccer matches and in general stay fit. That world was another time and place.
I don't mind so much that life evolves, all round us and within us at the same time. I don't mind that I age, or change size, shape, skin tone and everything else that comes with age. My voice still sounds like I'm about 15, but the rest of me looks my age and then some. Some ladies are delicate about age. "You never ask a woman how old she is." Sage advice from bygone days.
But why? I've never quite understood the logic behind anyone not wanting to reveal age. With age comes experience, wisdom, or at least the ability to say, "Oh, yeah that stupid thing you just did... been there, done that. You'll be alright." Men are allowed to age, but women? Society has too many double standards for gender based opinion for me to mention them all. This is but one.

I sit here, and I think about me, and my wisdom (and stupidity) and the things I've done and seen and loved. I think about the people that I didn't know 14 years ago when I looked like this, and the years since where new friends surfaced and life evolved. I am glad I'm here, doing this thing, in my now. I don't wish for yesteryear or long for a future I'm not sure will come.

A whole plethora of items from Fashion For Life are shown in my photos. EMO-tions (beautiful silver and black fade!), ASC, **Feel**, *+Crie Style+*. Besides the items from Fashion For Life, I've used the dress res gestae from h.m.a.e.m.
