FASHION FOR LIFE 2015 opens for one week of non-stop, boundary-breaking, uplifting, shop-till-you-drop, dazzling entertaining events – the magnitude of which we guarantee you have never before experienced – beginning Saturday, March 21st at 10:00 a.m. SLT and ending on March 29th, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. SLT with a colossal closing party!  Our goal is to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s RELAY FOR LIFE, the world’s (and SL’s) largest non-profit event which supports, promotes awareness, and gives hope to the millions of people around the globe battling the ravages of cancer on a daily basis – the patients, caregivers, families, research teams, and medical professionals at the forefront of the war against this abysmal disease.

About Relay For Life of Second Life:

Relay For Life of Second Life (RFL of SL) is an annual activity that takes place in Second Life in July each year. Volunteers form or join teams to have fun while fundraising and raise awareness from mid-March through mid-July. In July teams build campsites and walk a track that spans more than 40 virtual regions.

In 2014, Relay For Life of Second Life reached a milestone of having raised $2,500,000 since its fundraising beginning in 2004, for the American Cancer Society.  Relay For Life has become an international movement in RL and in SL. In 2013 participants from over 80 countries took part in Relay For Life of Second Life.

When I write the news of the week for Snowpaws, I always think about this. "It's time for the weekend update with Caryn from Snowpaws!"

Summertime... and the Livin` Is Easy (Fashion for Life Day 5)

I happen to work for a designer who's also amazing in other ways off line - she molds the minds of the next generation. This time of year always feels taxing when you work with young people, so I feel her exhaustion about now as we discuss work in world and life off line. This song came to mine, a famous song by Gershwin.

Mirror's Enigma has a great selection of items this week at Whore Couture. I had not yet been to this event and didn't realize it was already here! You can get three different skin tones and a selection of colors in the outfit as well. I love mesh and having mesh swimwear just makes sense. Now I know I wouldn't actually dive into the water wearing these boots, but I had to walk out on the diving board and look out over the water. It's summer time...

As for Fashion for Life, I have gone over to the dark side with this really amazing corset from {mv}. I feel so fortunate at times to just know these people, rub elbows with them as we say in the south, and soak up the creative genius.

For someone who's often seen as a sweet lil ladee, this really IS going to the dark side for me. Except that I'm not sure I'm a sweet lil lady to start with but I guess that's for others to decide. Who knows? Maybe it's just a really good mask and just behind this mask, I'm me, and I'm a handful!

Relay for Life: Fashion for Life 2013

It's more than just a role-playing game or a video game on steroids. Why? Because Second Life reaches out and touches millions. Though the 'modeling' world in Second Life might seem a little less than serious to those who do things with their time off line, so many women and men who've made a name or niche for themselves in Second Life use their 15 minutes of fame (Andy Worhol) and invest time and energy into charities of all sorts, raising money for everything from hurricane relief to scientific research funding. Tomorrow, the biggest event of the year as far as in game fund raising begins - Second Life's very own Relay for Life involvement. (This year, this event is being called Fashion for Life). No matter where you go or who you know, someone in your world has been touched with cancer and many have lost loved ones to this deadly disease. So how can an online game raise money? Designers of all kinds join together and sell items they've created, not for profit of their own but to benefit the research for a cure for Cancer.
