Rue A La Page - Day 2 - Wicca's Wardrobe - A Breathtaking Gown

The new event Rue A La Page (makes me sound so elegant, speaking French, doesn't it??) already shines as a smashing success. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Sun%20Dream/154/132/23
With founders Lybra Rage and Ms. Natzuka working together, they've created this awesome monthly event with the classiest items for sale. And I get to model for them, LIVE model, talk to the people who pass by, and get to know new friends this way.
This gown and shoes are Wicca's Wardrobe items, both found here, just a few meters away from where I'm waiting on you to visit. Will you come, and meet me? Please?

Wrapping Up the Charity Event DEbRA - Featuring !Lyrical B!zarre Templates, ~ghee, Sabra Style, DE Boutique, October's 4Seasons and Dulce Secrets

I was sure I was done with Halloween but with this terrific hat from Kylie Sabra at Sabra Style sharing her version of a Good Witch Galinda's hat, I had to don it for my photos last night. I've really just had a blast with all of your fun little things, all that you've created from cyborg eyes to creepy spiders to good witch's hats. Fun!
I have the second to the last item on today that I want to share from the week long DEbRA event. This dress from Lyrical B!zarre Templates supports the ongoing research and needs of the The Dystrophic Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Associate of America. You can read more about it and donate directly to the cause if you visit debra.org and hopefully you will drop by the event in world before it closes its doors tonight.
DE Boutique has new shoes, a selection of them including the pair seen here. I love the name of them simply because the name is long and complicated, Kirazissimo. It sounds like a friend's pet name, like Kira and bellissimo smushed together for the fun of it. For whatever reason, it doesn't change the fact that they're heels designed with a closed toe, simple and chic in several colors.

Dulce Secrets created a set of mesh eyes recently for one of the events and when I entered the word 'purple' into my trusty dusty help me make some order out of my inventory search button, I found them! So this is a rare time you see me not wearing the eyes that are traditionally in just about every style I create.

~ghee has some cramazing smash hot new tights they created for the recent AW14 fashion release and I've found so many uses for them. I got all 12 colors so I could mix and match and one was a deep purple suited excellently to add warmth to my look. Sexy. Practical. Super chic. Life is good.

All Around the Cobbler's Bench - Featuring :jazzitude: and Ruxy from The Promenade, *Glitter* at Designer Showcase, {NanTra} at The Instruments, and Brand NEW Makeup from October's 4Seasons

Beautiful people exude an energy that's beautiful, even when it's online and you may never get to touch them in person. I've found myself so blessed to be surrounded by beautiful people, those who put others first at times, those who encourage with a word or a smile, and all those who work at this business from every angle. What a treat it is, too.
My outfit today comes together by including a little bit of everything, from new releases at The Promenade, to The Instruments and Designer Showcase. Special deals, special colors, special releases and they're all for you.
From the Promenade, :jazzitude: provided the Hazel Carafe Skirt. Also at the Promenade, Ruxy shared the Morgana Pearls and Jacket (Shrug). *Glitter* has the heels available at Designer Showcase. A new release of both lips and shadow for the eyes will catch your eye at October's 4Seasons. And for the special poses, {NanTra} has a series called The Birds, an homage to the movie by the same name, available at the current round at The Instruments.

Finding Beauty A Little Bit Of Everywhere -- Featuring Truth, ~ghee, *GLITTER*, blackLiquid from The Instruments and [Liv-Glam] at Designer Showcase

Where do you find beauty? I love traveling around Second Life looking for places that make me think of peaceful real locations around the world. I also like fantasy worlds that make no sense whatsoever but look fantastically creative. It's just that the beautiful locations that remind me of real world spots offer a calmness that I don't quite understand but I soak it up as if I were getting one of those real world tans (or burns!?)
I went to a location a friend had given me as a landmark for some store some long while ago and ended up on this piece of property at Willowtail that rents for Mystical Rentals. I'm not even sure if I was trespassing. If I was, oops! I loved the easy decor of the place, and I'm a sucker for swings. I still remember thinking a swing could almost make me feel like I was flying if I could get it high enough and fast enough.
The outfit I put together comes from a myriad of designers. I like it when I can mix and match and come up with something super chic, something I'd love to wear to just such a location. A day at the beach with a special someone would be just cause for this sexy selection. Truth has a new group gift, Fernanda. The top comes from a set by ~ghee - Tuttifruitti - that includes this top and a pair of capris not shown. The shorts are deliciously naughty peek-a-boo shorts from *GLITTER*; they look like hot pants with the back side cut out and a little bow dropping strategically. And the new specs are from blackLiquid, but you can find them at the Instruments August, along with several other styles, suitable for either gender!

You Should Know the Lady -- Featuring !Lyrical B!zarre Templates

I find that the closer I feel to a designer, the more I love what they do in SL. Builders. Scripters. Clothing creators. Any content. I get to know a little about their world and I want them to be happy, to feel successful, and I feel blessed to be a little part of their world. That's so true when it comes to Loredana Alexandra's world, and her business in Second Life Lyrical B!zarre Templates.
This gown, Position, expresses the inner beauty of this lovely lady. I love the way the brilliant scarlet color works as black fuses shadow to each of the pieces. I have loved every detail she's put into items since we met, and each time she's created something new, it became my new favorite. What she calls kooky - to me - it's art, and high fashion.

I Can Do Anything... -- Featuring red(sans) from the Month of Games and !Elemental Designs from Designer Showcase

In the last six months I've learned more about the stress and joys that women of color face in their day to day lives. Not the ones they lead on SL because there are so many other things you can be on SL that it's rare to find any single person who's attempted to copy their 'self' into this virtual world down to the finest detail, no matter how hard they tried. Many, like me, enjoy the diversity of options and have explored everything. Because I've worked with October Bettencourt, fabulously sensational photographer, incredible plan and organizer (and if you haven't tapped into that people you do not know what you're missing!!), awesome business manager, owner and creator. Kyxe Skins & Shapes is a team effort, between October and Kyxea, and it's grown far more successful with October's hand in every aspect of the business. But some of you don't know is that she's also an amazing person off line, fiercely aggressive in a world where she's felt that if she was not fiercely aggressive, the world would pass her by, pay her no mind, because she was female and a woman of color. I often say to her, "They're idiots!" Because they probably are, if they're willing to look at this beautifully creative dynamic person and only see skin tone and gender.
As I've listened to her tell me bits and pieces of her story over the past few months, I've felt more and more connected to that story and more disconcerted by it as well. We often hear people say, "That's not fair." And another echoes, "Life isn't fair." No, life isn't. We have to make the most of any given moment, regardless of who we are, what our gender, our race, our religion and though Western so-called civilized men(andwomen??) say things in this part of the world is different, no stereotypes, quit your whining, do your job, that's really not true. The disparity between certain minority skin tones and the money they make truly exists. The jobs available to men vs. women continue to be on two different orbits, and even if the jobs have the same exact description, quite often a man will make $10 an hour while the woman in the same exact job makes $7 and hour.
I was sitting on this horse and chariot today, taking some photos. I've used this for other photo shoots, since the beginning and wanting so badly to become a model, and each time I think it's hit me differently. Today, I was a dark skinned princess, waiting for my knight in shining armor. I was thinking about skin tone, which I really rarely do, and many of the things I've heard and processed as I shared friendship with October. She is Ooo-la-licious. She's someone you should know if you don't because knowing her will affect your life. You'll learn something and gain a friend. I think all little girls dream of the handsome prince, the charming ball, and getting the lovely girl at the end of the story. I don't think race, creed or gender should affect our dreams OR our ability to make our dreams come true in our world today. It's sad that skin tone does generate completely different reactions, and provide completely different opportunities, and different in this case being a negative thing. I was sitting there, on the step of that carriage, lost in virtual space, lost in thought, praying that time would heal old wounds and allow people to be themselves, whoever self is.

I Love Flowers -- Featuring FINESMITH

Some days feel as if they sling by me! Other days drag onward towards a slow and tired end. It's all in a 24 hour time period, but my brain processes those 24 hour periods very differently each time a new one comes. If time really is a construct of the human mind, I imagine that time looks nothing like it did when people in centuries past looked at it.
While I don't seem to have enough time to show all the beautiful items from different events, wonderful designers, and creative people, I don't have to worry about hand washing the clothes in a stream of water and hanging clothes on hemp rope to dry. I enjoy food, primarily as a pescetarian, I don't have to spend the day cleaning the fish and salting the fish and cooking the fish and curing the leftovers.
I can only begin to imagine how terribly L - O - N - G those days could get. Today I played with the elements of a new outfit released by FINESMITH recently that included some beautiful floral pieces that expanded in three dimensions in addition to the top, pants and heels that are included in LOVE Flowers. I added a bit more from FINESMITH, the CEN Necklace and the FLORA Belly Jewel. Many new releases this spring and summer have included both jewelry and clothing. If you haven't been by to see recently, you might have missed some of the beautiful new designs.

This blog would not have been possible without the support of these designers:

Wedding Gowns and Lingerie -- Featuring Carrie's Lingerie, Truth, Gaeline, Kastle Rock Couture, JUMO, FINESMITH, {{BSD Design Studio}} and Image Essentials

Every month, a new creation appears for a limited time at Carrie's Lingerie. These limited delicious gowns/lingerie appear at the beginning of each new month, then disappear at month's end, into a vault.
This month, Carrie's has focused on Weddings, for June is the month of weddings, and the limited Trinity gown has all the accoutrements of a wedding gown from head to toe. And as you peel away the layers, hidden underneath is a gorgeous lacy lingerie. I appreciate the detail added to every new Limited, but I think this month's Limited exceeds all previous experiences I've had with the Limiteds. This gown is over the top. And if you always wanted to be a bride, but don't want the hassle of the relationship, visit Image Essentials Props and Poses for this handsome stand in, new this month!

Another monthly treat I look forward to at Carrie's Lingerie happens because I joined as a VIP member 3 years ago and ever since then, in addition to getting a discount on new releases and a special sale wall each month available only to those who are VIPs, there's also a beautiful VIP gift (one for the ladies and one for the gents).

I show the basic VIP gift in the black bra, panty, gloves and stockings set of the first photo. But then I added a wee twist to the photo of the same outfit zoomed in closer. Carrie's gone GACHA crazy and there are corsets in a variety of colors. The first one I got was the basic black and white, and for me, it was PERFECTLY suited to this styling.

Besides the new lingerie, you'll see new TRUTH hair, only released this week, Zoella. new heels from BSD Design studio, and a face veil from Kastle Rock Couture. Gaeline has several new sets of mesh lashes (on their very easy to use HUD system); I'm sharing Phantasmogoria in this series. For the black based lingerie, I only used one small piece of jewelry, the Labradorite ring from JUMO, and with the wedding photos, I used a new release from FINESMITH, called Three. I modified the earrings so they're each sized differently, so when you look at the photo, I don't want you to fret that you might get earrings that don't match. They doooo, I promise!

I'm grateful to each designer who added their artistry to make this style possible:

Bold and a Great Price Too!! Featuring FINESMITH from 55L Thursday and HOLLYHOOD from Fashion For Life

Many weeks come and go where I see special sale items come across my desk so to speak and I want to blog them before the sale occurs, but I'm a little too late or a little too lost. So...
This week I decided to grab a couple of the designers who are doing a little something for all of us (like me) on a budget, and making 55L Thursday items, or 60L weekend items, and thank them!
This dress and just the necklace (the earrings are also sold at FINESMITH, but not part of the 55L deal) are on sale in the color orange tomorrow. The texture of the dress has a sheen to it and the tie at the waist gleams. It's more than just a pretty dress, and it is 55L tomorrow - June 12, 2014!
And those beautiful shoes from HOLLYHOOD are new and found at Fashion For Life, still running thru June 20. If you'd like to donate directly, follow the link below.

I can't keep up with the amazing pace of releases that come from Liv-Glam and it's classy designers, but I can be in awe of it, and share a little tidbit of it with you.
I'm glad I got to know the owner and several of the designers when it was first building it's brand because I KNOW how much has gone into making this a smashing success.
I pulled together this look with Liv-Glam's Twerk It Like Miley dress, a pair of shoes from the Fashion For Life products from Morphine, and new nail appliers from FINESMITH.

Everything's Fine at FINESMITH -- Featuring Finesmith, Morphine and HOLY SHIrT from PENUMBRA and Kyxe Group Gifts

I don't know if you've noticed, but I have... FINESMITH jewelry has recently changed all their items to be F I N E S M I T H. I saw other companies do this to differentiate when an item was created, and later, when the creator has 9,258 pieces, she can at least look at her list and somewhat chronologically order them. I'm an organized person and have very good folders and subfolders and even more. I get the need to make things easier to find, and label. So some of the items I have to share today come from FINESMITH and other pieces from F I N E S M I T H; all of them are wonderful because Ms. Yula Finesmith continues to create stunning bits of wearable beauty. FINESMITH had new pieces, the Bouquet Face Piece and the Illustrated SLink Nail appliers (this weekend's 55L item). I also used Geula, a set released in the last 6 months from FINESMITH to accessorize the overall look.
About the turn of the year, from 2013 to 2014, I received a note from Ydreece Forrester from SL - Morphine saying that all things from her other brand were repackaged and this 2014 would be a year of expansion, beyond skins and makeup to include many other items of interest. I had chatted with her before my diagnosis with Cancer, and she knew much of my life was on hold. I pulled away from her business much like I did many of the other ones I worked for; only a few businesses refused to let me pull away ( Kyxe Skins & Shapes a perfect example of the exception ), and by the time I was more stable and back to blogging regularly, the Morphine business was rebranded and growing in leaps and bounds and I was pledged to Kyxe as an exclusive model wearing only Kyxe Skins. When I saw Morphine had several items set aside for PENUMBRA Fashion Week, I was thrilled. I put together my outfit using Nadine, the leather dress that is one of the items from them.
HOLY SHIrT has a set of items that are cute as a button, yet seemed to work with my dystopian styling in an odd way. The shoes look like a comic strip that's been draped over layer by layer to cover each heel (and there's a matching mini in the same style) and a pair of wool grey socks. I've never worn socks with my heels off line but I might if I had a look like this one to play with off line. Is it comfortable? I dunno!
I got a note to rush over to Kyxe 4Seasons to see what was newly added to the group gifts section. A pack of four different makeup pieces that work to spruce up your favorite skins were in one box and a suit was in the other box. I haven't tried on the skirt/suit yet, but I did put the Cranapple Lips and the Onyx Eyes on to show you what's out there and FREE. Free is good, right?

My great thanks extends to each designer who's made this style possible:
Featuring F I N E S M I T H Illustrated SLink appliers

Sexy Might Help You Find Trouble -- Featuring Carrie's Lingerie, FINESMITH, EMO-tions, Liv-Glam @ Designer Showcase, Moondance Boutique, KaTink Poses

All the ways Carrie's Lingerie might get you in trouble... The GOOD kind of trouble. 1. You wear it out to a party and at least 8 men and 3 women IM you to introduce themselves. (Good yes?) 2. You wear Carrie's Lingerie on a date with your special someone and you get a little extra sumpinsumpin. (Really Good yes?) 3. You wear Carrie's Lingerie on a blind date and by the end of the date, you're a new partner to someone special. 4a. Your lover says "Where IS this Carrie's?" because she wants to look as hawt as you do next time you enjoy one another's company. 4b. Your lover says, "Where IS this Carrie's?" because he wants to buy you new pieces when they're released AND he discovers there's a whole section of Carrie's for men! 5. You love Carrie's so much, you decide you want to volunteer there, or just hang out there and get to know the regulars because you know it's a special community and not just a store, and you want to be invested in a company and group of people you really enjoy. (And then you find out every so often, Carrie hires new Assistants from her loyal, very important people, people who've loved her work for a long time and supported her.)

Okay, so none of that is trouble, but Carrie's Lingerie can be a positive catalyst for SO MUCH FUN! This I know first hand. Lori is a leather look, something a bit different from the other pieces she's released recently and exactly the reason I wanted to own it and style it. I put the new hair from EMO-tions with it, and face chains are part of that hair. There are other ways to style Mantus, the new hair, so I'll share it with you a couple of times so you can see the multiple uses. Samantha S. Jones and Liv-Glam does EVERYTHING well, and with my passionate lust for boots, I could not by-pass this pair of Parrow Stripped Thigh Boots that are at May's Designer Showcase.
Moondance Boutique has a little bit of all sorts of accessories and this set of nails comes as prims to add to your hands rather than appliers you'd get to change SLink hands. It's one more way to use fingernails now in SL. At the heart of every style has to be good poses. KaTink Poses has created a third set of the Catwalk series and each of the sets released in this category have been useful to a passionate blogger.
A personal note and one that could not have in a million years remotely presented itself, except that the great Creator has a wondrous sense of humor. My Zachary, the younger of the two sons, the one who's been hard headed, moved out, upset his mother for having a little less than a clue how to live in a grown up world, my baby whom I love more than life itself. I love both my sons to the gazillionth degree. This Zachary wore 'ZMAN' on his baseball cap and lettered on his soccer jerseys for years as a child. This same ZMAN decided at the spur of the moment to get married at the Waffle House by a man who happened to be a regular customer who happened to ask ... yes, blah blah, what??
And that same day, Ms. Yula Finesmith created a new watch set in several colors and the name - ZMAN. It was sentimental, for a silly old mother who really would have wanted to be invited. I could care less if family does things grandiose or tiny, with loads of money or very little. I don't have a lot of material sense of value, never have. I would have wanted to BE there though. So my wildly unpredictable ZMAN got married, and this new watch I have on for this styling reminds me of that special guy, and his new wife, and good things yet to come.

My Chrysalis -- Featuring KL Couture, Pure Poison and JUMO from FASHIONART Faire, and FINESMITH

Sometimes I hear a story in my head as I prepare the fashion looks I want to share here and on my blog. Before I was ever in Second Life, I was a writer, a passionate one at that, and I wrote erotica and children's stories.
I've published children's stories but never any erotica. I always have the funniest look when people know this detail about me, especially when they toss in Youth Pastor as another of the things I've done in my life.
So I took this gorgeous Butterfly gown from KL Couture and styled it with stunning new jewelry from Finesmith. Pure Poison - Fashion provided the handbag (and handbags are so hard to pose ohh emm gee... I'm so glad for Wicca's Wardrobe poses that had a series that worked!) and JUMO has new skins and makeup accessories for sale.
KL Couture, Pure Poison and JUMO's items are from the FASHIONART Faire that's open til the end of this month. After I put together a style, I think about the girl that emerges, this time very much like the escape from chrysalis that a butterfly makes, the first time a girl goes to a fancy part. The anxiety and excitement making butterflies in her tummy. The first time her wings spread and she can fly, but how high? How far?
I loved the illustrative art. I arrived at a beautiful ball room. The place was so beautiful. Someone invested tons of time into creating it and then it was empty. I thought of how heart broken such a pretty girl, ready to fly, would feel if she were meant to attend a ball and then it was cancelled at the last moment. There she is, captured in photos to share with you.

Many thanks to the designers who made this blog possible:

Channeling My Inner Snookie Featuring from FASHIONART Demise of Flight, *PC, EMPORIUM, *~Damesfly*~, FINESMITH, and Face Paint

I channeled my inner Snookie for this series of photos. Demise of Flight created the armchair with built in poses. It's available at FASHIONART Faire.
Additionally, *~Damesfly*~ hair, *PC, and EMPORIUM are available at the fair.
You'll see a set of jewelry designed by FINESMITH that looked as if it were created to accessorize the dress.
And new makeup from the newly reopoened Face Paint add to that Snookie feel I wanted. I even used a smaller shape in order to be more Snookie-ish!

I'm so thankful for each designer represented here:

Defining Beauty -- Featuring Carrie's Lingerie, FINESMITH, [GoS] and KMADD

I was talking recently with a friend regarding the adjective BEAUTIFUL. The old addage, 'Beauty is in the eye of the beholder' makes a lot of sense, and beauty comes in many outward visuals but also comes in many inward traits. I work with fashion and I firmly believe every person who makes a fashion choice has something in mind, their own personal definition of what's beautiful and what will enhance it, in every common and every uncommon possibility.
Beauty and being beautiful only work, in my opinion, if the person first manifests beautiful personality traits. Once I've acknowledged their value, I can look at the fine tuning of nature (or pixels) and find beautiful attributes in an person's outward appearance. I also think beauty might be the thing many strive for, but the emphasis in our current society skips the internal beauty and markets the external.
What do you find beautiful? Who? Are there people you've come across in Second Life that have done wild and crazy things with the sliders to create an avi from a planet you've never heard of, and made you go hmmm? What about people in your world off line who put that crazy purple plaid jacket over a pair of leggings that were NOT designed to be pants, and then wore this outfit to your place of business, and made you go hmmm? Are there common traits we all agree exemplify beauty? And those that do not qualify? I think so.
This morning, I listened to the excitement and looked at some photos of a friend who's goal for the day was to turn in a contest card. Many contests began using photos as a first round means of choosing the most - stylish - beautiful - able to represent the brand - and those photos are important. The photos were just lovely and I smiled and wished her good fortune. How do the judges know what is or isn't beautiful? It's something I've been pondering for a while now, and from different angles. I love the beauty in each of you, and it shines.

Thank you for your support designers. Without each of you, this would not be possible:

Guess What?? -- Featuring - A Z U L -, FINESMITH and Truth

Guess what... Guess what... GUESS WHAT??? I find myself truly privileged to blog for a designer I've admired for years, long years before I ever modeled or knew a thing about fashion. Thank you Mami Jewell and -AZUL- for the great joy that this brings me. I hope that one voice from the southern belle from South Carolina will encourage others to discover you for the first time or for the 999th.
Black tends to be a color I see everywhere I go in our shared Second Life. I understand the concept. It's easy to wear. It's dark and sinister. It's club wear. It's formal wear. Black goes with everything. But, when I walk into a room filled with people, my eyes naturally gravitate to the people who choose bright colors, zany patterns and prints, and creative design.
The Tangerine version of the gown Lucy from -AZUL- appeals to that need for bright colors. The quirky headpiece from FINESMITH that's a bit like Bonsai to me (my father's hobby all the years of the life I shared with him) with a sexy twist. If he could read that now, wouldn't he chuckle. Bonsai with a sexy twist. Only Karyn/Caryn would say that! The jewelry, also from FINESMITH, had it's own artistry to it, love birds sitting on a branch together.
Bringing the world outside, the natural, the super natural, and creating art, wearable art, well that's just beautiful. I spend a lot of time indoors, being a good patient (hard headed, grumpy, disagreeable, you know... good, right?), so I think I'm even more thrilled with artistic pieces that do imitate nature and all it's magnificence. Maybe you'll find a new way to look at those pieces, and discover a new reason to love -AZUL- and FINESMITH. I hope so.

What a joy each of these designers are, and without them, I could not do this, so thank you:
