Why Do I Do It? -- Featuring !Lyrical B!zarre Templates!

Your checkbook reflects and reveals your heart. I know it's not a common term these days, the use of the word checkbook, but the concept isn't foreign. Where we spend money reveals a lot about what we think and feel to be important. In the case of Second Life, this really still has credence. It may be pennies on the dollar for the actual cost of something, however, it is real dollars, euros, yen, francs and rubles. How much would your transaction history tell the world about you? Do you invest in accessories for your avi? Pay a monthly fee to belong to a specific group? Donate to charities? Tip a singer, hostess, or dancer? Or perhaps pay for skills such as foreign language classes, photography classes or modeling classes? Each decision reflects a great deal about where our hearts, our impulse and passion find truth. We spend those increments of money because this thing or that matter.
Another way to determine what's of value to someone, probably another easy measurable method, is to calculate where they spend their time. Some people come in to a virtual world to relax after a long day at work, while others work in a virtual world to create money to exist in the world away from it. If you followed someone's timeline, you'd get data of a different sort than financial, but you'd still learn a great deal about that person.I devote a lot of time to 'work' for the fashion world. People ask me from time to time if I get paid for what I do. I do not. I receive the reward of the item of clothing when someone entrusts me with their design as a part of a greater marketing strategy for their thing, whatever that thing is, and I find that because I do what I do and I do it a lot and with great energy and time devoted, it encourages new designers to offer the same trust, and my viewpoint - the name of my blog - Caryn Ashdene's Viewpoint, became a viewpoint that touched a lot of people over time.
I LOVE THIS!! It's why I do it. I love the chance to have a voice, to touch the world, to show a beautiful something, but also to share a bit of me in millions of ways. Text, words, narrated stories, letters, all these things are created to reach and touch the world. I use this medium. Others write comic books or thriller novels. There's a reason. I embrace people like Lyrical Bizarre - Loredana Alexandra - and places like Lyrical B!zarre Templates, this new dress Curl from The Instruments The event, and I embrace to some degree all of the customers or potential first time visitors because I write about her, what she does, what she creates from week to week. It's a conversation to me. I want you to know that the Curl dress shows her creativity, pieces of mesh she makes herself, and that the pieces she makes look and feel worth the investment from one viewpoint, mine. (I took this photo at an old favorite haunt of mine, Toby's Jukebox. It's a blues based club found here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Tobys%20Juke%20Joint/223/222/22)

Adding Sneak Peek To My Blog -- Featuring Zanze from Sneak Peek and Wicca's Wardrobe from The Instruments

I received my first item from a monthly event that I joined recently. It's called Sneak Peek and offers an array of items from various designers. Each time I add a new event, I update my blog's front page. You'll find the short term events above the Flickr slide show, then each of the monthly events I work with below it.
They're alphabetized now, though in the past, I had items listed on the front page in the order that the designers had hired me. It's way too complicated to keep up with that, especially when I've had periods of times I left a group to deal with my world offline then returned. Yes, alphabetically is easier. Except when I forget whether N or M comes first in the alphabet. :p I'm sharing a link here, for this first time, then will know you have access to the SLurl on my blog, Sneak Peek's blog address on my blog and any other pertinent information.
I'm so glad to work with the incredible team at Zanze with this new project and admire Ms. Fizz Lennie Devina and adore Ms. Zoie Zee http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/zanze%20two/64/191/26 - So to kick off the Sneak Peek blogging, this is Elena from Zanze the store, at the November Sneak Peek. I paired the halter dress with Sazzy Pants from Wicca's Wardrobe. You can find them and other new pieces she's created to be worn together as an outfit or separately like I have in this instance. These pants and other Wicca's Wardrobe items are sold currently at The Instruments.

Looking For Drama -- Featuring /Wasabi Pills/, [dirty little secret], Entice from Designer Showcase and Ro' e Buni' from The Instruments

I nearly squealed out loud to the empty house today when I saw that season 10 of Grey's Anatomy was up on Netflix. There are only a few shows I've binge watched via that connection and I love it when I do. I can be so impatient waiting 25-28 weeks for each episode to air in it's normal time slot, break for holidays, take time off for the March Madness, or whatever. With this Netflix thing, I can gobble up good stuff at my pace, and I love Grey's. I was an avid fan of E.R. but only a few of the first years, and lost interest after a while. I watched House and again, lost interest in it as well. I have returned to watching it intermittently, again thanks to Netflix, but it doesn't have that same emotional tug to me, like Grey's.
After 1 1/2 episodes, however, I had to come back here, and read news, look at emails, check notices, and look for friends to connect with because this emulation of life that comes virtually into my world makes more sense than every emotional tug I ever felt watching a television simulation of life, by like a million jillion. Sometimes people talk about drama, a bad thing, something to avoid, and yet drama, that day to day stuff that makes us laugh or cry or feel some other emotion drives our world. Drama on television inspires us. Drama in our day to day life either feeds us or is a byproduct of human connection. Sometimes things irritate me, like idiots, sometimes things disappoint me, like liars, and sometimes things make me cry, like deception, but the only way to avoid those irritations would be to avoid people. I like the positive energy from connections that make me laugh, make me proud, make me feel something good, and I wouldn't trade any of that away for some mundane quiet world.
I love experiencing the wild romps of a television drama, and well written drama just makes me smile more. But here, in this shared universe, you're so much more interesting, dramatic, fun, crazy, and yes, those negative things too. It's why I do what I do. I have this little process, coming in to work on photos, styling, and other things, but every single time I come in, I'm also checking in with friends, offering hugs, making someone growl with frustration (yes, I'm sure I irritate others at times!). I put together this outfit, from head to toe chock full of new items, from /Wasabi Pills/ latest release Dominique, to Entice's items at Designer Showcase that include the awesome Clueless leggings and Don't Heels, to Roe' e Buni items from The Instruments. I even tapped into a resource I rarely use and found a [dirty little secret] bra in my box of fun. I embrace the work, but it's all just a really good opportunity to touch worlds, designers, other models, old friends, and so many others. I'm going to finish this episode of Grey's now and will see you all again really soon. I couldn't exist without you.

Are You Ready For Holidays? -- Featuring Sabra Style, -LOUX- and E C R U from Designer Showcase; Featuring Zibska and PosESioN from The Instruments

Some years, I truly struggle with the emotion of the holidays and by November 3, I'm buried somewhere down deep inside myself and bracing for the storm of the supposed "HAPPY" holidays that sometimes seem so far away from reality. It's something significant and not something only I struggle with, so I hope as you read this, if you know others who do, you might be a breath of gentle air, a warm hug, a cup of hot cider, a blessing of hope, and then just wait, and be there, because those of us who've learned how to hibernate through emotional seasons also wake. They'll want you there when they do wake and they will remember your touch and heart while they couldn't respond to you.
So I went over to a Winter Sim and found some precious displays and this little snowman standing in his own huge snowfall caught my eye. I know it's a bit early to think of Merry Christmas, but it's not too early to think of love, a love to touch the whole world, regardless of faith, and peace, enough to spread like a fire, and bring a calmness like the snow to every single of the 8 billion souls you'll find out there this year.
I'm wearing a new Charisma gown in red from Kylie Sabra at Sabra Style. You'll also find E C R U Ritz Heels and this bold yet elegant luscious new  lipstick from -LOUX- both at Designer Showcase
, excellent deals, and every new month that passes brings multiple reasons to return to enjoy this sale venue. Also, new Zibska Kelda jewely and the poses I used from PosESioN come from The Instruments event, for the November rotation.
Lots of beauty, and a breathless dream of hope and love and joy for each of you as we do brace for winter together.

Dancing In A New Month -- Featuring Lybra from Designer Showcase, Featuring Loordes of London from The Instruments

After dancing the first day of November into existence with a few friends and patrons of Lybra, hanging out with the designers, Lybra Rage and Natzuka, I had to write about the new gown from their amazing array of art they create. This Olympia gown may be bought at Designer Showcase and though it's almost pure white, with the feather boa for the shoulders, and sleeves that are long, you'll be able to wear this any season, for holiday celebrations, or just to hang out and dance a new month into existence.
The shoes peeking out from under the gown come from Loordes of London, and can be bought this month at The Instruments. You'll find these heels along with several other styles, plus other items as well, so a visit will be worth your time!
I have to make a quick comment about the Angelina series of skins from October's 4Seasons. These skins compete graphically with the best skins on the grid. Period. They offer every option you might seek, for attachments, appliers, and mesh. There are different brow shapes, and stunning makeup that October creates each time she makes a new skin tone. She's taking the 'Seasons' theme, that will help you choose the right skin AND the right outfits and hair and other elements of your avi, to a new level and making sure you know when you're wearing what season, and educating in a positive way in the process. The last thing I have to say, the skins that are not the traditional pale, cream and tan, the ones that exemplify a native heritage like Indian cultures from India and Indian cultures from the Americas, a beautiful array of dark skins that could be from the vastness that is Africa or the indigenous people of Australia, those skin tones are better than any other designer makes them in my opinion, and not because I get paid to say so or because she's a sisterfriend. It's simply truth. If you haven't tried an October's 4Seasons skin, you should. They hold up under any lighting, at low or ultra level graphics, and on any runway. They're also awesome for the everyday Second Life girl who's looking for the best on the market. Angelina Milk and Walnut are sold at The Couturier's Docks, just a little longer, and limited supply. If you visit the main store, you'll find a new group gift just set out last night, and new releases of Angelina, makeup, and more. I do adore October, or as I affectionately nicknamed her Ms. Oooo. I also admire her business acumen and her incredible talented artistry. You will too.

The Joy Of the Chop Zuey Girl Contest -- Featuring Chop Zuey, *Whimsical Imaginarium* from The Instruments, and AZUL

I ended up with a plethora of pictures I put together for the Chop Zuey contest and instead of just sharing the final draft, I thought I'd show the selection, and my point of view. The Sailing To Byzantium fascinator that Chop Zuey released recently really caught my attention because it was gorgeous and because of what it represented, a way to disappear into dreams, to find our utopia, a world unbroken, young and beautiful.
I looked up Byzantium art and prints that were famous in that time period and how current designers in 2014 are using prints like those for clothing. A great example is the print that's on the new Gold Finch gown from *Whimsical Imaginarium*. Besides being one of the best yellow anything I've ever ever seen in Second Life, because Second Life can be so hard on yellows for some reason, this gown also had a soft feminine touch, made me feel young and echoed the colors and unique passions of the Byzantine era. The Sea Mist Set came out sometime around the Sailing To Byzantium fascinator and the colors worked so perfectly against the backdrop I set.
Before I took that pair of photos, I shot a segment of photos that were op'd into one picture, and had so much fun playing with the elements of size and purpose. I took the fascinator, and dropped it into a pool of water at the edge of October's 4Seasons, and zoomed in to it, so that it was in a world of its own, and then I went to work with the elements of the Sailing To Byzantium boat, the garnet, the sapphire, the diamonds, and I looked for gowns that were elegant on their own but in this case, also had one of those tones as the primary color, settling on this garnet gown by Azul. I also found a set of jewelry from Chop Zuey that was as brilliant as the gown so the jewelry could remain the primary focus of the photo, and windblown hair from EMO-tions. The photo of me in the boat was a result of that compilation. Then I thought one step further, of a girl, a regular girl like me, who might dabble in dreams, and put the actually sailing version of myself on the wall behind me as I stepped out to work on whatever the world had in store for me next, even as I dreamed of my utopian trip.
I have no idea how the photo I submitted will be reviewed and that's one thing that I've really come to terms with in this model evolution. I pour my heart into what I do. I love every moment of it. I hope I do justice to every designer, from Chop Zuey for whom the contest focused, to the talented ladies who created the gowns that were key to each of the photos.
The project, the evolution of it, the research behind it, it all meant something to me and then I get to share it with you. If it does well in the contest, that's great. If it's one of many stories, and not selected, I understand that too because we are all artists looking at our world through our own eyes and we're each figuring out our story to tell as we go along.

The Witches Warn -- Something Wicked This Way Comes -- Featuring Chop Zuey and !Lybra! From The Instruments

The scene opens, and a fearsome group of witches chant and prophecy, whispering words in an Olde English tongue, and MacBeth enters. One of the great stories of William Shakespeare, and fraught with all the excitement of earthly gasp and second-worldly wisdom, inspires this new set of jewelry from Chop Zuey. Thank you Belle for making more than jewelry. You always have a story to share, a tale to tell, and an adventure for us to take with you when we wear your ingenious pieces.
Second Witch:
"By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks."
Karina by Lybra made me smile because during the years I took Russian in college, I had to sign my name КАРИНА - which when translated to the alphabet more of us recognize, Karina. There are a thousand ways to make something flexible and something traditional in Second Life clothing design, but it at times feels like only two or three ways may be used by many. When I put on this dress, there were layers of skirt that moved with unique flair, something fresh and different, around a sweetheart bodice, and I loved it. I really enjoy the artistry of the fashion industry, and when artists like those behind the name Lybra create a gown, I know it's not just another gown but something special.

Mental Health America, Make a Difference -- Featuring (Bryne) for Halloween Hellraiser for MHA, !Lyrical B!zarre Templates from The Instruments, DE Boutique from Designer Showcase, and DESIR's Grace from BOSL International Fashion Week

With a little help from Lyrical B!zarre Templates - Weaping - at The Instruments and great Smoothies heels from DE Boutique at Designer Showcase, I added a long white skirt called Grace from DESIR's new releases coming just in time for BOSL International Fashion Week. Then I took new makeup - a series called Energy, lips called Siren - and the new release Angelina in Milk Skin Tone from October's 4Seasons - coming to The Couturier's Docks this weekend - to tease your senses and encourage you to find the weekend filled with great shopping.
The corset comes from (Bryne) and was an item from a designer I'd not met previously or blogged previously. I'm always excited when I get to debut something from somewhere completely new to me. I'm also always excited when I know that the whole reason the designer created the release evolved because the designer wanted to contribute to a fundraiser for charity. Next weekend, Paradox Messmer aka Doxy, hosts a special event - Halloween Hellraiser - to raise money for Mental Health of America.
I looked up the primary website and pulled their 'Donate Now' address, so anyone who sees this note can donate directly if they cannot attend the special event.

Birthday Spectacular At Chop Zuey -- Featuring Chop Zuey; no. 7, Loordes of London and -{ZOZ}- from The Instruments; Liv-Glam, *{Kiko Life}* from Designer Showcase

I attended Chop Zuey's birthday bash, celebrating it's 5th birthday with style. As there are often gifts on the weekends, this weekend there were also, but this time, some of the gifts were over the top collections and loads of ways Belle chose to spoil all of us. A new set called Don't Call Me Betty was released as a gift with a limited stone set, however, the set I'm wearing has the option to change three gem stones and the metals in the jewelry to make it so adaptable. I warned Belle before I arrived that I was wearing something Spooktacular and a bit wild, did she still want me.
~laughs~ And so I did go and loved the chance to hang out with some of Chop Zuey's long time members/supporters and new ones joining for the first time. I had on a great outfit that looks perfect for the Halloween month yet isn't specific to Halloween, a top and shorts that Liv-Glam put together. It's name made me chuckle - Idiot School.
I had on tights that are lacy and deep blue that I made to go with the boots I wore Loordes of London French Quarter boots from the Instruments. Unique makeup came from *{Kiko Life}* at Designer Showcase and those wild wonderful lashes are no. 7 items from the Instruments. And I used the -{ZOZ}- nail appliers that I mentioned yesterday, Ghost Girl.

Arachne Phobia? -- Featuring Wicca's Wardrobe at The Instruments and Chop Zuey

One more pair of fun photos for the night and then I'm going to eat a nibble and try to rest. Eating and resting are not as easy as one might think if one lived in my world, but I will do my best.
First, however... Wicca's Wardrobe has a new Arachne full outfit out for The Instruments. It's so much fun. I pulled open my Chop Zuey holiday items and found this set. It does't have a star beside it, so it's likely not been on my blog before, and if it's a repeat, well it's a fun one to repeat isn't it!?
I rarely pull on a whole outfit as is, but this one just screamed wear me, on every layer. I did change up the makeup a bit. You'll find some fun Halloween options on tattoo layers in Arachne that don't appear in my photos.

A New Bright Day - Featuring CASTIEL from The Instruments and New From Chop Zuey

It's another bright and early good morning. My day begins with the little cardinal on my front porch singing to his mate, or mates? I don't know enough about the birds and the bees, obviously! But the sun's just breaking over the horizon and everything here is pink and grey. It's that time of day where hope is greatest and anticipation highest as I look forward to what the day has in store. Amidst all the big events in progress, I also want to make sure to share the monthly events like The Instruments.
Each month, a new theme reaches the designers who participate in this event, and each month they create items that suit the theme and then put them out for you at a discount from what you might pay otherwise. The structured gown I have on today is from CASTIEL. I haven't had a chance to play barbie very often with this designer so I enjoyed the chance to style it.
Additionally, I have new Moon Crystals from Chop Zuey. There are a number of options for this set that includes three lengths of earrings, from the small set you see in the photo, a mid-length set, and a long set for those who like the really big earring look. The necklace also comes in three choices, so depending on how low you want the crystals to go and rest against your chest, you can pick the one that suits you best!

Farewell to Summer - Featuring Artizana at The Instruments and [Z O O M] at 24 Squared; Also >Asset< NEW

This super cool and farewell to summer look comes from a combination of items. First, you might note the high waisted skirt and the bikini top paired together. You can find the top and skirt in several colors at Designer Showcase. Visceral comes from Artizana and will be available through the month of September for this round of special deals you can only find there.
The wide eyed sunglasses come from 24 Squared. This event remains in progress, and has so many things to see and do. The designer [Z O O M] created the glasses called Narin. I've never worked with an item from this designer prior to this. It's one of many reasons I absolutely love working with events. I hope you have a chance to visit and see [Z O O M] and everything else meant to tempt you.
And one other NEW item to share with you comes from >Asset<, a designer that continues to make an excellent selection of unisex hair styles. This style called Lucca appealed to me for this look because it looks so laid back, smooth sailing.

Autumn Winds Are Blowing - Featuring [Sympatica] and !Lyrical B!zarre Templates from The Instruments; Hair Day and Blacklace from 24 Squared

The second set of photos I created yesterday begin with a really unique look from Lyrical B!zarre Templates. I continue to talk about how incredibly creative Lyrical Bizarre really is and then she just goes another step further with creativity.
In the photo that shows my dress all the way down to the ankles, you'll see traveling vines done in the most beautiful of autumn coloring, and it's part of the dress! There's also a neck/chest option that adds leaves around the face, but I saved that for another time so I could also showcase other items from The Instruments. Earrings from [Sympatica] also come from The Instruments.
But there's more to share! 24 Squared is in progress and the hair from Hair Day called Heather has a basic color HUD and then offers a flower and veil option as well, each also on a color choice HUD so you can mix and match to your delight. .:JUMO:. provided the jewelry, another color stone from among so many items they submitted to this event. Belinda from Blacklace includes these wedge heels, and may be found, along with other items from Blacklace, also at 24 Squared.

Take the Time To Play - [Sympatica] from The Instruments, Analog Dog, Sensuale, and HOLLYHOOD from 24 Squared

I was in the mood for styling more than anything else yesterday. It's just so much fun to be allowed to play barbie and mix and match items that really end up making me feel like a beautiful lady. When you're someone who deals with chronic illness, being beautiful or feeling beautiful isn't always easy. Second Life lets me have that chance, so now I have two different looks to share, with items from two different events.
From The Instruments, where I shot this set of photos and the next set I'll post, renews items every month and has a wide variety of designers who participate. This Wool Jacket from [Sympatica] is one of the items. It reminded me of the Eastern items I got to style at the Japan Fair, a beautiful fierce yet soft look.
And at 24 Squared, you'll find this hair Fun Pack from Analog Dog. The Vernice Heels I'm wearing come from HOLLYHOOD. Sensuale Slim Slacks that have a HUD to change from a flat color to something with a sheen to a silver or gold inlay (the ones I'm wearing have the gold inlay activated on the HUD). Besides great fashion, 24 Squared offers other fun ways to spend your day so before the weekend ends, you might want to run over and see all the ways you can play!

Where Can I Find... Featuring [PS] at Rock Your Rack, ::N2:: and -{ZOZ}- at 24 Squared, [mom ami] at The Instruments and E C R U at Designer Showcase

I love this job!

This second styling of the day, yay the weekend and I'm home!! and it's chock full of really good stuff, stuff YOU WANT to see up close and personal. First, at Rock Your Rack, opening tomorrow September 1, you'll find charitable donations from so many designers, it's incredible. I almost never change my shape for any blog. I've just been the 'Caryn' shape for so long now... and she is me. However, for charity and to support a designer I didn't know til now, here is the shape ::Circe:: from [PS].
The Blue Society dress is the first item I've ever worn from ::N2:: and can be found at 24 Squared, the event that begins September 5th and is sponsored by Siren Productions. Additionally, the nails from -{ZOZ}- are also from this event. They blend a really believable french nail style with colorful art tips, Butterfly Mesh Nails.

The Instruments begin a new month and with it comes new items like [mom ami] hair. I've never used their hair before this, and have on the new Cherly. It's very full bodied, but worked well with the more endowed shape I was wearing.

And finally, the beautiful heels peeking out from under the decorative maxi skirt come from E C R U at Designer Showcase. They're a heel with a personality all their own; you could wear them with just about any style, to a party, lunch with a friend, and you'd fit in perfectly.
Hopefully, you're motivated to visit each of these events and special rooms for great deals this month, and don't wait too long. There are exclusives and special details you will want to explore when you get there.

Please remember the Rock Your Rack event is a fundraiser/charity event and donations go to Breast Cancer Research Foundation. If you want to donate directly, visit: https://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise?fcid=283425

Finding Beauty A Little Bit Of Everywhere -- Featuring Truth, ~ghee, *GLITTER*, blackLiquid from The Instruments and [Liv-Glam] at Designer Showcase

Where do you find beauty? I love traveling around Second Life looking for places that make me think of peaceful real locations around the world. I also like fantasy worlds that make no sense whatsoever but look fantastically creative. It's just that the beautiful locations that remind me of real world spots offer a calmness that I don't quite understand but I soak it up as if I were getting one of those real world tans (or burns!?)
I went to a location a friend had given me as a landmark for some store some long while ago and ended up on this piece of property at Willowtail that rents for Mystical Rentals. I'm not even sure if I was trespassing. If I was, oops! I loved the easy decor of the place, and I'm a sucker for swings. I still remember thinking a swing could almost make me feel like I was flying if I could get it high enough and fast enough.
The outfit I put together comes from a myriad of designers. I like it when I can mix and match and come up with something super chic, something I'd love to wear to just such a location. A day at the beach with a special someone would be just cause for this sexy selection. Truth has a new group gift, Fernanda. The top comes from a set by ~ghee - Tuttifruitti - that includes this top and a pair of capris not shown. The shorts are deliciously naughty peek-a-boo shorts from *GLITTER*; they look like hot pants with the back side cut out and a little bow dropping strategically. And the new specs are from blackLiquid, but you can find them at the Instruments August, along with several other styles, suitable for either gender!

Super Super Sweet From Candyland -- Featuring Haute Couture Design from The Month of Games, Wicca's Wardrobe from The Instruments, and New Designs from BSD

The fantasy world shown vividly through board games come to life in a variety of ways makes for creative designs at The Month of Games event. Siren Productions continues to bring inspiration to the fashion industry with themed events like this one. Candyland, Clue and Chess all remind me of special memories. I needed that. Maybe we all do sometimes.
This sweet gown, the Poute Frostine gown, comes from Haute Couture Design and can be found at The Month of Games til July 31. At The Instruments this month, Wicca's Wardrobe offers collar and cuffs that match. They have a dramatic flair and took this super almost get cavities sweet outfit and added just the right touch. A new Legendary Beauty handbag and Fashion Trend pair of heels completed the look with each of those items created by BSD Design studio. In both pictures, the playful youth of Candyland has been evoked.
