I Could Be An Exotic Princess! -- Featuring from Artizana at Designer Showcase, Image Essentials at The Black Fair, Kyxe Skins & Shapes and Chop Zuey

All summer long... I could wear this little dress everywhere. I wish I owned one in my closet here in my world off line. It's sleek and sexy and comfortable. This month at Designer Showcase, LAYIDU VI as well as four other items are on sale. Get to know Artizana - "Ethnic inspired fashions for women & men - mesh clothing, accessories & decor. Exotic African, Caribbean, Indian, Indonesian, Persian fabrics. Africa ethnic couture boho and more..."
Kyxe Skins & Shapes have a new 'face' coming very soon - Laila. This is the Chocolate Cosmos version. I find the eyes and brow notably different from some of the other faces created by the same designer. My favorite feature on this newest face is the dark thick brow. It's fashionably fierce. More new poses from Image Essentials Props and Poses allow me to show you the best curves, oh la la!
Chop Zuey sells something you want. I just know they do. I know this because every single time I visit, there are many somethings I want. From the very unique items that you might not ever even envision to the classic wedding bands to the casual everyday colorful stones sets, it's there. This Romance in F set is just one example. I loved the button style of the ring, so I turned it to the side and converted to earrings to add to the overall look.

Who Is Effie Trinket? -- Featuring Baboom Couture from The Hunger Games, Loordes of London from Designer Showcase, [White-Widow] and ***Feel***

When Kyra nudged me yesterday, asking if I wanted to blog the new outfit Effie that she'd created for The Hunger Games, I was all excited. I really wanted to blog an outfit or two from that series of movies, and Effie is so so sooo over the top. It helped pull my gentle little elegant self out of the box I keep close at hand most of the time.
Baboom Couture keeps a current edge on an ever changing definition of chic. When I met Kyra maybe two years ago now (where does time go?!), she made me smile when she asked, if I would like to blog news for Baboom. The answer was and has always been since then a resounding "YES!" show me the news.
The really cute wedge sandals from Designer Showcase come in several different color leather and wood combinations and for a summer come fall look, they suited just wonderfully well. [White-Widow] creates some of the most unique makeup pieces I've found as I shopped. I first discovered it at Couturier's Docks, and since then have bookmarked their main store.

Tomorrow, Who Knows? -- Featuring ECRU from Designer Showcase, WTB, Chop Zuey, EMO-tions and **Feel**

I warn those who are close to me that my life has been on a veritable roller coaster since the day I was born. I came into the world and became a ward of the state instantly. I spent the first year and 3 days of my life in the University of Virginia's ICU for little tiny people. I've heard off and on through my life, and long before I understood words, "You're not going to make it." I suppose I just took it as a dare. "You wanna bet?" So here I am, 45 and I'm still making it, one day at a time, and hopeful that you out there, reading my words, are taking the same dare life gives. I know it's tough sometimes. A special person dies. A loved one gets injured or ill. A baby is born with special needs. I know that you can make it. If you need to take it one small step at a time, you CAN do it. When I hear your stories, turn a listening ear into a virtual hug, I also know deep down inside that if I could make the conscious decision to survive this roller coaster we all call life, YOU CAN Too!!
I love evolution of self. It happens off line and online. I also love History, a fanatic about it really. It helps to see where we've been so we can figure out what we are and where we're going. SL turned 2 shortly after I joined. There was a team pulled together of Lindens and users, creators, and important figures of that generation. Now we're in the midst of turning 11 and there's going to be an SL-2 somewhere in the future. It's evolution. And each of us will figure out how to survive. We'll find our niche, stay in the first world or travel to the second and whatever each decides, it will be for a reason, important, and wherever you invest time and heart, you will find home.
I really enjoy blogging. I know it will be here, whether it's for this sim or that designer, or even for the next incarnation of SL. For now, I'm going to do this thing, this latest evolution of my own, blogging events and specialty spaces and sales rooms. It's my way of broadening my own experiences and exposure to more, more designers, more creative people, and more friends. I have E C R U heels on in the first photo, and they're from July at Designer Showcase. I've got a new top and mini from WTB, an item that was at a recent event that's now available in their main store! Chop Zuey has a great men's belt out as a gift this month. I resized it and used it as a choker. I'm also wearing a new ring from **Feel**. And EMO-tions put a pair of new colors out for the hair "Shakira" - Snow (seen in the photo) and Black (not shown). I have it in an Ombre and another color and now have these two colors as well. Between great events, sales and the generosity of designers who share loads of gifts, there's always something fun to wear as we continue to enjoy the only Second Life we've known. Tomorrow, who knows?

The following designers made this style possible:
Featuring from E C R U at Designer Showcase Entice Stilettos

Aging Gracefully -- Featuring from Fashion For Life: EMO-tions, *+Crie Style+*, ASC, **Feel** and New From h.m.a.e.m.

I find myself using silver and snow hair lately a lot more than when I first began blogging. The longer I invest in this, the more of me I seem to pour into it. This series of photos shows a really apt version of Karyn c. 2000. Granted, it's 14 years ago. And I no longer coach soccer, ref soccer matches and in general stay fit. That world was another time and place.
I don't mind so much that life evolves, all round us and within us at the same time. I don't mind that I age, or change size, shape, skin tone and everything else that comes with age. My voice still sounds like I'm about 15, but the rest of me looks my age and then some. Some ladies are delicate about age. "You never ask a woman how old she is." Sage advice from bygone days.
But why? I've never quite understood the logic behind anyone not wanting to reveal age. With age comes experience, wisdom, or at least the ability to say, "Oh, yeah that stupid thing you just did... been there, done that. You'll be alright." Men are allowed to age, but women? Society has too many double standards for gender based opinion for me to mention them all. This is but one.

I sit here, and I think about me, and my wisdom (and stupidity) and the things I've done and seen and loved. I think about the people that I didn't know 14 years ago when I looked like this, and the years since where new friends surfaced and life evolved. I am glad I'm here, doing this thing, in my now. I don't wish for yesteryear or long for a future I'm not sure will come.

A whole plethora of items from Fashion For Life are shown in my photos. EMO-tions (beautiful silver and black fade!), ASC, **Feel**, *+Crie Style+*. Besides the items from Fashion For Life, I've used the dress res gestae from h.m.a.e.m. Aloha Caryn! Featuring Sky, >Asset< and Face Paint

Before I jump into June, I have to pause and share something meaningful about a lady named Sky Summerwind. Like many of us, she's experienced the ups and downs of the economy and how it affects our day to day lives. While she'd enjoyed Second Life as a place to play and have fun and even created a few items to wear and use in Second Life prior to October, in October 2013, she determined to make a financial difference in her world via her store.
I could feel her enthusiasm; the passion she had jumped off the page when she typed about her dreams. I knew that with the energy she had to put into her decision, it wouldn't be long before she had reached that goal, where the work she did in Second Life could enhance her family's finances.
I remember when she told me the first time it happened, and I squealed with her in joy and sense of pride. She believed in herself and she made it happen. I worked with her as a model for one of her HUD frames for a new release and she offered to pay me. I said no thanks. But I did tell her one thing that would mean a great deal to me. I suggested that she name a new garment after me instead of paying, and it would thrill me to no end. So... here's Aloha Caryn.
I used another of Asset's new releases Cao Cao (which reminded me of a favorite Mooooo friend of mine), as hair, a perfect do for playing in the sands off Maui. I also added Face Paint's new Simplicity (eyes only) layer. And with that, the compilation was complete. I could close my eyes, inhale and smell the sea spray and hear that heavenly surf.

Thank you Sky! And thank you designers who made this blog possible:

Sugar Daddy -- Featuring h.m.a.e.m. and Truth

I enjoy a variety of ways to set up a photo. The easiest sometimes isn't always the direction I go, and it's not always the same. Sometimes it's easier to stay on my platform and rig a studio type photo with little bits of script and color. Other times it's easier to go to a fascinating sim and play with poses til I find the right one.
I'd really never collected backgrounds though, and it's been a real treat to work with a different medium as a result of all that KaTink does with backgrounds. I set my little home studio then flipped through a number of just breathtaking photos and found one that seemed to fit the gown. I try to make it make sense. I could not see wearing this long black opera gown to a meadow somewhere, no matter the meadow's beauty.
h.m.a.e.m. never disappoints, finding Enrietta a completely different shape on the body from anything I've put on in Second Life. And that shape is one of the things that really matters. A few things we wear in life are skin tight. Nylons, for example, would not have wrinkles or many shadows. But everything else rolls round the body, curves or not, and settles with the help of gravity. It's always really beautiful when an artist can pull or push or whatever they do to the mesh, to make something new and fresh.
I'm still madly in love with my 'Sugar Daddy' for sending me a Truth Gift. I've hopped over there more in the past two weeks than I have in two years. I used Truth often when I worked for Carrie's Lingerie because she wanted hair off the body allowing the luxurious beauty of the lingerie to shine. It's amazing how much Truth and hair in general has evolved since I began working for Carrie in 2011. The style here, that frames the face and falls to the shoulders, that's a very Karyn style, maybe a tiny bit shorter for summer, and when my energy allows it, I'm ready for a trim!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart to each designer who made this blog possible:

Setting Goals and Reaching Them -- Featuring *Living Imagination*, **Feel** and Pink Acid from DOPE Fashion Week

Winning and accolades come randomly. I really didn't know I was entered in a contest during the SAVIAD Spring Fair. I felt so honored to be included, it was a sense of acceptance, and a feeling of growing up into this image of myself that I wanted to be some 2 years ago when I began this leg of my life's journey in fashion and modeling in Second Life.
I had a specific idea where I wanted to go, and worked at it diligently. I knew that everything takes time, and steps are small at first, and then you learn to run. By the time I was recognized by the team at SAVIAD along with two other amazing bloggers, I found myself right where I wanted to be, and such a sense of wonder and comfort simultaneously for getting there.
I've received a few items to blog since SAVIAD ended, including this amazing dress - Silent Flowers - from Living Imagination. The privilege to work with the designers who participate in Couturier's Dock makes me smile. It's a culmination of so many specific decisions and activities. There were Linden involved in the win, but that has never been a goal of mine, nor will it. I just wanted to find my niche in this world, an acceptance that tells me what I do has value to others, helps in some way, and fills a need. It's a process, a determination, and so when I found myself here, putting together the style for Living Imagination, I just exhaled with delight at the opportunity.
I know that in many ways, I've only begun to grow, and know there is so much more to know. Life is like that. By the time we get to a goal, there's a new destination just off on the horizon, beckoning us to come, and we listen to that far off voice and know that it's just a process. One step. Another.

I thank those who contribute to my world, the designers who make this blog possible:

Are You Imagineering? -- Featuring from DOPE Fashion Week "B.I.P.", Maxi Gossamer, and Kyxe Skins & Shapes

It's rare for me to wear a swimsuit. I haven't been to a beach party in I don't know how long. When I was new to the virtual world, pool and beach parties occurred non-stop, along with all sorts of other ways to celebrate and make sure people wore the clothes you wanted, "Best in Beachwear" or "Best in Blue" didn't matter, just a whole lotta strangers, and a few Linden to make it worth the time, even if you didn't meet a someone special in the process.
I work at a much different point of view within SL now and those sorts of parties feel so far away in the distant recesses of my history. It's weird how 8 years has the ability to feel like a lifetime. Many things have evolved. The very look of SL certainly has. These photos, with the waves, and the water's reflection, and the high quality sculpted pieces used to make the props as well as the buildings in the background all accentuate how much they have.
At Disney, they call almost all of the artists on staff, from the artists who work on the movies, to the ones who create elements for the Magic Kingdom and Disney's other properties and investments, Imagineers. I like the notion of an Imagineer at work, always trying to imagine more and bigger and more interesting, and more fun. I don't know how much the people who created SL put into updating and upgrading the experience in their game, their second world, our Second Life.
Maybe it was their responsibility in the past and now they rely on all of us, the avid users, to embrace the tools we're given to create beautiful new experiences. For fashion, that means pushing the edge of all that is 'normal', figuring out how to import the things we love from the world around us, but also finding ways to create worlds that could never exist within our physics.
I believe the only way to overcome some of the frustrating steps that fashion faces, with the eternal lag, is not to continue doing the same things, but find new ways to do things, and new things to do. Each of us can be Imagineers. We have it in us, even the ones who read this and shout, "I don't have a creative bone in my body." I beg to differ. You probably do. You just haven't tapped into something that released it yet. It's there. Find a figment, and figure out how to translate it to the outlet we share in SL. I know you can. We all can be Imagineers.

Nothing I do would be possible without those who Imagineer every item I style:

Sensually Addictive -- Featuring Carrie's Lingerie, Gaeline, Eclectica Relic Jewelry

One of the things I look forward to month to month are the sumptuous creations at Carrie's Lingerie. There are always new releases, but additionally, she has a Limited item that runs for a single month and also has a special new item for VIP members only. Last month she did two Limited edition items, one for the month of March and one for Mardi Gras.
I have far more Carrie's Lingerie than I could show you in one sitting so I'll being April with April's Limited, Fireangel and show you just one of the many treats given to VIP each month by showing you the extra special 1500 Member VIP gown.
I took a photo of both of these beautiful pieces of art in their entirety, then broke it down to the very basics of the lingerie tucked in below all the rest. Most of Carrie's pieces, whether they're new releases, special releases, hunt items or anything else, contain a number of layers so you have multiple ways to wear the outfit. Some have even more, with shoes and makeup added to make for a perfect outing all in one.

My great thanks to the designers who made these two looks possible:

Beauty Dwells In Places All Around Us-- Featuring AD Creations from SAVIAD, no. 7, EMO-tions, KaTink and Wicca's Wardrobe

My whole world I've built slowly over the years in Second Life takes root in others, friends who've made the experience intensely important to me, friends who were involved to the point where they brightened my world and lessened the general burden life heaps on our shoulders at time.
When I heard yesterday that I'd been selected as one of three bloggers who worked with the SAVIAD Spring Fair, to win a prize, and a privilege, I couldn't think clearly. I considered the chance to be one of the bloggers was a great gift, and then to be recognized by the team of designers, for the effort and time I put into each blog for this event, wow.
There are still items I have to share from SAVIAD. It's on til the end of this month, so if you've seen something here in Facebook from any of the SAVIAD bloggers, or said "Aha! I want that..." then you should head over and get 'that'! Exclusives are a part of the experience, and time keeps on slipping in that hourglass. One of the dresses you'll love comes from AD Creations, and the gown shown here. It's got a darker Gothic energy, designed with creativity that shows in each detail.
I'm happy to show some of KaTink Poses as well as some from Wicca's Wardrobe with this gown. no. 7 has these Aero Wing Lashes in their recently released bucket of greatness! And I've not yet seen armlets like these new this week from EMO-tions. She's used a rigged mesh arm layer, like one might use for arm-warmers in winter, and designed intricate jewelry on that layer instead.

My deepest appreciation goes to each designer who created elements that made this style possible:
Featuring Poses from KaTink and Wicca's Wardrobe
Featuring AngelsDemons Creations from SAVIAD Ecate Gothic Mesh Dress
Featuring EMO-tions Niani Bracelets Black

I want to be like Mike. Well no, not Mike. It was an advertisement campaign some years ago, when everyone thought Michael Jordan was the ultimate in basketball athletics. There was nothing he could not do. And yes, that double negative was intentional. Nothing.

I really want to be like the elegant, sophisticated eloquent model bloggers whom I might idolize a little like children wanted to be like Mike. My favorite continues to be Cao. She shares her soul and happens to dress in the most stylish, most fun, most bestest way while she does. She cares for others, invests her time in causes she truly supports with time and effort, and she's always quick with a shoulder or a hug for friends.
I really want to be like October. She seems to have her finger on the pulse of fashion. Her networking skills are leaps and bounds ahead of my own, and I consider myself pretty good at getting the right people together to make something happen. In the midst of everything crazy in her life, she manages to make me feel like I'm someone important, that I'm never interrupting her (even when I know I am) and that she really listens to what I share. It's not a head nod and okay thanks bye-bye.
I really want to be like Wicca. Every time I've ever spoken to her, she's apologized for not knowing English well. I wonder why this is, since I could not even begin to speak German and I do not apologize for this. I think I save her ears by me not even attempting it. Besides this, she's very humble when she receives compliments. I think maybe it's possible she doesn't realize how astoundingly amazing she actually is. Her style helps me see that style should be original and special, and unique to self. With my own whimsical approach to things, combining these super heroes of the fashion world, I feel like I can grow, I can learn, I can reach higher and farther and push my own envelope.
One hero, Mr. Juan Frolic Mills, I really don't want to be like him. No, not in a mean spirited, oh how did he just say that to me... sort of way! Every time I've ever spoken to him, he's had 5,000 things in progress. He stays busier than anyone I've ever virtually or physically met. It's no wonder the businesses he touches evolve in positive ways. It's no wonder that the legacy he's created will live beyond his wildest dreams. I just don't have the energy to sustain a life like his. I probably don't have the energy to attain the heights of my other heroic influences either, but Mr. Mills... well he just seems HuGeRtHaNLiFe!

Special thanks goes to each designer who made this possible:

Positively Ravnous Because Sexxx Always Sells... New Items KMADD/Moda, Chop Zuey, EMO-tions and Ravnous

All sorts of fun things happen on Second Life. You can sky dive, get married, have babies and grow old together and that's just before noon on Monday. What will you do with the rest of your week?

For a few seconds today, I was a songstress, weaving a tune filled with joyful thoughts and sad memories. Laying across the piano, I paused to think of all the people around me who need special warmth.

A beautiful dress from Ravnous, at the Sexxx Sells event, draped silkily against the skin and left much of that radiant palette exposed.

Chop Zuey jewelry and a stunning mask from EMO-tions accessorized without deterring too far from the design of the gown.

I've found recently that many men's styles, like this one today from KMADD/Moda, work just as well as women's styles, sometimes even better, depending on the mood I'm trying to set. I still haven't been through all the styles KMADD/Moda's new mesh eyes has for me to try, but each new photo series shows some of them.
