Fun and Fashion For A Great Cause - Featuring NEW Fashion For Life: Baboom, Glint & alskametro; Featuring NEW Skin Fair October's 4Seasons

October's 4Seasons kicks off Skin Fair 2016 today, just in time for fun this weekend. My favorite skin designer so talented and capable and maker of stunning skins takes the helm this year as primary sponsor, collaborating to bring you the best skin fair ever. This natural skin tone shown today is one of many reasons I love October's 4Seasons. I can wear it and then layer other tattoos, makeups or anything else creative I might find along my SL journey. In my Catalina Lily Skin package, I have five makeup choices, this natural skin, some cleavage options, eyebrow color choices, and trim choices for that other delicate hair that some find so enticing.
With the natural skin layer, I was able to add new items from the Fashion For Life event that's continuing this weekend. alaskametro created both the Extreme Wing II shadow and the Nadia lipstick as part of their support for the charity event designed to help raise money for the cure for cancer. I'm also modeling the new Linette Peplum Top in Black and Mira Leather Pants in Grey from Baboom and .:Glint:.'s Multi Colored Oval Charm Earrings and the Unisex Time To Heal Necklace, each items created to support this fashionable fun charity event. Fashion For Life is a branch of the Relay For Life annual drive. By shopping with Fashion For Life, you're supporting an urgent international event that will touch many lives in so many positive ways.

The Dark Angel On My Shoulder -- Baboom Couture and October's 4Seasons New Releases

I begin the day with a captivating gown created by Kyra at Baboom Couture. This Dark Angel gown replete with the most unique skirt and beautiful wings struck me on a personal level and I found myself feeling ethereal, as if for a moment or two, I had an angel on my shoulder as I worked with the photos.

Each year the sophistication of the program on which we play or live or however you define your Second Life grows more realistic, offers more options and in essence becomes more... more beautiful, more dynamic, offering more options to the creative minds behind content creation. This reflects both in the gown I wear and the surroundings. Just look at the rabbits, the trees laden with snow and the icy waterfall. Gorgeous.
October's 4Seasons has a brand new set of Holiday Designs nails for you, coming very soon. They're unique in the fact that instead of having a colorful base and silver tips, the silver is a crescent of shiny and the rest of the nail is painted color with silver etchings. You'll love adding them to holiday themed attire.

May The Odds Be Ever In Your Favor - Baboom! Exclusive at the Hunger Games

Playful and brightly colored are two definitions of what I've seen from Baboom Couture during the Hunger Games event. I've loved the chance to show you the beautiful fun by Kyra Camel.
I've used brighter lips and intentionally 'tinted' hair to a more neon-like color to keep with the theme. I also realized that with the unique bolero she created, and the silver shading at the bodice, then add to that the great plumage of flowers as a head piece and veil, the need for jewelry disappeared. It's one of the few outfits I've ever styled without adding a bit or bauble.
If you haven't had a chance to visit the Hunger Games event, I hope you can, and look for your favorite designers so you can wear exclusives like this long after the party ends and everyone packs up to go home. And may the odds be ever in your favor.

Costume Party At The Capitol? -- Featuring Baboom! from The Hunger Games, [Liv-Glam] from Designer Showcase, Kyxe Skins & Shapes, Chop Zuey, and Wicca's Wardrobe

I have to say that I love costumes for masquerade parties, Halloween, and any other excuse to wear them and I've loved the designs that have come from this year's Hunger Games event. I remember watching some of the scenes thinking, "Wow, that would look great in Second Life." Little did I know... Baboom Couture has several exclusive items at the event and hopes you'll love all of them and take them home.
As much as I love Capitol Day, the name of this dress, and all the fanfare and glitz from the movie, I could also minimize the look, the makeup, and take it down a notch and wear it any time. It's not JUST a costume or themed outfit. Smart! Wicca's Wardrobe has several items at events around SL. The poses I used with this dress were perfect for it. I told Wicca when she shared them with me that I was desperate to use them NOW. Pencil skirts are sometimes difficult to pose. Funky Pencil Skirt poses solves this. Designer Showcase really lives up to the name. Designers from all over the grid are invited to participate, and their items are showcased for a month at a time. The heels from [Liv-Glam] - Isadora Wedges - are only one of several great items they've got at the showcase this month.
I introduced you to Laila yesterday and have another skin tone with the new face today. This time, it's Kyxe Skins & Shapes beautiful Walnut Skin Tone. Twelve skin tones comprise the spectrum you'll find at Kyxe and Walnut is one step away from the darkest tint. Kyxe prides itself on offering a skin for women of every color. And speaking of bold colors, Belle Roussel at Chop Zuey breathes life into her jewelry with all the colors of a rainbow and more. This set, Jupiter Symphony, reflects the exaggerated color scheme of Capitol Day in the Hunger Games movie and I believe matched the mood of the overall costume beautifully.

Sadly Saying Farewell To FFL 2014 -- Featuring Baboom! from Fashion For Life, Tchelo's from Summer Fashion Festival; New from Liv-Glam, Gaeline and KMADD/Moda

I'm always just a little sad when an event comes to its end but today, it's just a little more sad than the usual. Fashion For Life has run since the beginning of June and tonight, it closes its doors. I believe it's been a successful endeavor to raise money for the Relay For Life/American Cancer Society that are both at the heart of the Fashion For Life project.
I have a sailor's dress and cap from Baboom! that made me smile. I was in the US Navy and remember those caps the boys wore well. In dungarees and boondockers, those hats were so very NOT a fashion statement, but with this cute outfit, Kyra Camel hit it out of the park, and the hat add a saucy playful note to the overall aesthetic. This is the last item I saved to blog for FFL.
In addition, I have a new purse by Tchelo's from Summer Fashion Festival, great SLink related heels from Liv-Glam new this week for sale, brand new released lashes from Gaeline and one of the hair styles I've not yet shown you from KMADD/Moda. The array of new items from around the grid fit together like that 'playing Barbie' puzzle that I love about blogging! I hope you enjoy.

It's not too late to contribute to the Fashion For Life fundraiser. You can go to the sim, or go to their website: http://main.acsevents.org/site/TR?px=37321408&fr_id=61576&pg=personal

Thank you to all the designers who contributed to this look and made this blog possible:

Begin At the Beginning -- Featuring Tori's Sin and EnvyMe from Fashion for Life; Featuring Tuckinowaga from Summer Fashion Festival and Gaeline

It means a lot to me when someone pages me and asks if I will review their item for this or that event; this store or that sale venue. There was a time when I cajoled, pleaded, yes even begged for a chance to review items. Everyone begins at the beginning.

In recent weeks, I've been wholly and completely focused on Fashion For Life because above all other things I do in Second Life that takes a business-ish format, I love to work with charities. It just makes me feel like I'm doing something far bigger than me, reaching around a world that I love to live at my fingertips but touching the real people at their desks, in their work place, living their life.

I also have a certain number of designers to whom I've pledged time and commitment to promote new releases on a certain schedule by month, and I want to be sure that in the midst of the special events and the people to whom I've given my word, that I don't begin to drown in folders. (Where's the inventory life jacket? i still haven't found that thing!)

When someone asks me about blogging things now, I offer names of bloggers whom I know, the ones who share here and on blogspot and wordpress and other private paid for blog pages. I also offer to do a note for them here in FB, to help advertise their desire to find good bloggers. If you're a committed blogger, there will always be someone, somewhere, seeking your services and work.

If you'd like me to refer you, I would be happy to do so. Like I said, everyone begins at the beginning. Let me know.

Fashion for Life has run from June 7 and will run til June 30. That means there are only three more days for you to participate. I hope you find time to head over there, if for nothing else than to drop a few pennies into the piggy bank. The money raised goes to the project Relay for Life which in turn raises money for the American Cancer Society. If you do shop, designers have created a tremendous array of fashionable items to buy with proceeds donated to the charity. If you like to donate directly follow this link to do so:

Ask Alice -- Feautring Violator, JUMO from FASHIONART Faire, Face Paint, and no. 7

One pill makes you larger And one pill makes you small And the ones that mother gives you Don't do anything at all Go ask Alice When she’s ten feet tall.

And if you go chasing rabbits And you know you're going to fall Tell them a hookah smoking caterpillar has given you the call Call Alice When she was just small.

When the men on the chess board get up and tell you where to go And you just had some kind of mushroom And your mind is moving slow Go ask Alice I think she'll know.

When logic and proportion Have fallen sloppy dead And the white knight is talking backwards And the Red Queen's "Off with her head!" Remember what the dormouse said, "Feed your head."

I put together this wild styling with Violator by Soraya Vaher at the heart of the design. The new Light and Shadow Pretaporter has lines and curves that inspire almost a madness. For that reason, this old song by Jefferson Airplane came to mind. I began to put together pieces after that with chaos as the core aesthetic. Black lips from Jumo are a part of a set from FASHIONART Faire. Face Paint has a set called "Killer Liners" and I used one of those, apt to the overall feeling. And no. 7 had a series of masks out during a Gacha fair in recent past. The Dark Mask was one of the items from that series, and something I hadn't shown. You've seen EMO-tions Semiramis style before, on my blog and others' perhaps, but you've never seen it like this.

I find myself ever grateful for the support of designers like the following who make this blog possible:

A Sparkling Sky, A Sparkling Heart -- Feauturing Haute from FASHIONART Faire and ((Crystal Line))

There are some truly gorgeous places in Second Life and most of them appear empty. This is good for a fashion photographer, for great landscapes and backgrounds naturally offering artistry. It's a bit sad to me, however, because every empty sim reminds me that there were once creative people invested there and for whatever reason, they go.
I love the fact that new people are dreaming new dreams. I cheer on success stories, whether it's a new dance hall, a place for people to meet or a gorgeous build that's designed for the most beautiful fashion show. I know that we're all constantly evolving, and in this moment, the people we're touching are meant to be, and in the grand scheme of life, those moments are priceless.
I don't know when the last day of any part of my life will end and a new one begins. I hope that as I evolve and invest in new ideas and meet new friends I find a way to retain the past and the good that's occurred. Maybe the transition from present to past must leave empty cities and unused clubs and other spaces that were beautiful once.
I want to show you this gown, the Haute Starry Sky Dress, another beautiful item from FASHIONART Faire. I thought the sim and location I found for the photos really enunciated the dress designer's theme well. I found an unopened surprise in my inbox, from ((Crystal Line)), the Sweet Bracelet and Ring set. It's always a treat to discover something I have not yet blogged. I combined these new items with favorite pieces from EMO-tions, Baboom Couture and Kyxe Skins & Shapes.

Let Yourself Be Human -- Featuring ~ghee, FINESMITH and Baboom!

Some of the most difficult moments in life occur when I disappoint someone. I'm certain that no one in any life, any lifestyle, any gender, any religions, not a single soul goes through life without disappointing someone. When I do, I feel it to the core of my being. I sometimes even feel physically ill, as a side effect.
The only way I know how to make it through those moments comes via communication. I have to give the person who was disappointed time to vent, to share frustration, listen to the anger or the sadness, or whatever other emotion I engendered by doing the thing I'd done. Absorbing their angst only makes it more heavy to my spirit, and sometimes it takes a long time to get past it. It's not that friends or family are unforgiving. They are, and do, long long before I give myself a break and forgive me.
It's challenging to build a reputation in any business, anywhere in our world, and it's just as easy to break it, tear it down, and sabotage the positive energy with one little thing. I've often thought that thousands of good deeds might be easily overlooked by a single misdeed. It's just how we as humans act and react. I hope that you give yourself permission to be human. You might not win the crown, or get the job you wanted, or find your way to your dreams. You also might find a friend who's having a really bad time of it, and behaving contrary to everything you know about that person. You might not know why, or ever know, but it might help to give friends a get out of stupid free card, and let them be human from time to time too.
~ghee created this evening gown, and has a sparkle effect that doesn't show on still photos. It's gorgeous and made me feel very feminine. Baboom! made this spring decorated hat with loads of color and symbols of holiday, play and fun. Something as beautiful gives me a good jolt of joyous energy and helps me get through those human moments. It's just one of many many reasons I do this thing called blogging in this virtual world we share.

Designers make this thing I love to do possible. My thanks goes ever warmly to each of them:

Altruism - Featuring Air Shen Zhou, Bbarbie, Digital Eyes, KMADD, Baboom! and FINESMITH

In my corner of the US it hasn't been on yet this holiday season, but when it is (tonight at 8!!) I will tune in to watch Merry Christmas Charlie Brown for my 40-somethingth time. I love the simplicity of it; when the music by Vince Guaraldi and the story by Charles Shultz were paired together, it exuded the very essence of Christmas for me.

I don't care for Christmas for a lot of the reasons Charlie Brown shares in this story. At one point, he was sitting with his personal 'shrink' Lucy, trying to explain why he was blue at this time of year, and at some point in the conversation Lucy interjects, "Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you're the Charlie Browniest."

I think that phrase could be rewritten with my name in there instead of his. I often get blue and disappointed and focus on some of those negative things that can really pull any of us down. Stress. Money. Who needs what? Am I doing this right? I feel so vulnerable. There's even a commercial on that talks about being the Gifter, and out-gifting your friends. That's just not Christmas to me.

I wish there were some way to reset the switch like Linus did, and find the altruism of the holidays, boiled down to the most pure possibilities. I think that some of the essence of the holiday might be shared with ANYONE from any corner of our world. Whatever your faith, I will still share my joy and love abundantly. In any setting, I will put your needs ahead of mine. I know I'm not perfect, so my altruistic efforts may fail at times, but I give it my all.

I'm so happy it's December 2. I'm happy I have friends from all over the world who do and believe and think and live differently than I do. I hope that my readers, my friends, my supporters understand how much I want to pour out back to your world, filling your cup til it flows over, setting your cornucopia so it's abundantly filled with all your needs. I do think I'm the Karyn-iest... Caryn-iest.
