Imma Tell Ya Some Only Cuz I Lu Ya - Featuring [SWANK]: (Byrne) and DuJour

Sometimes it feels like I'm listening to someone speak in another language, even when I'm listening to someone speak English. I'm from the South, USA. I know there are many times I've said something with that southern drawl that others from around the world completely missed what I said, so I know it goes both ways. I love accents too, so I'm a puddle of goo when I hear some people speak. Melt. Drool. Ahhh.
I listened to Jason Derulo's latest chart topping hit, and watched him dance, which is another thing that makes me melt and swoon, and I knew what he was saying but I didn't. It was like he was speaking a new version of English. I'm sure he said, "I'm going to tell you something, only because I love you."  Except it came out a lot more like what I put in my blog title today. Imma Tell Ya Some Only Cuz I Lu You. It's alright though. Language does that morph thing, from corner to corner, across the pond (English, UK style, rocks too!), down the street and across time. If I said a sentence like the southern girls did a hundred years ago, I'm fairly sure I wouldn't understand me either. It's a good thing that music and art and people have another type of language, love and dance and all sorts of things that affect their body language. I might not always get every word, but I'm fairly sure I pick up the meaning.

Clothes speak another language. A casual outfit says something totally different than a look worn into a business meeting, and yet another outfit one chooses for a first date clearly vocalizes still another point of life. Today's look from [SWANK] continues to show the sexy brilliance of red woven through so many of the looks this month. 84 designers with hundreds of products worked their magic for every language of love, passion, friendship, and more. The Passionata dress from DuJour paired with the Miele Rouge boots by (Byrne) - one of this month's gifts found at [SWANK], communicate in a fiery feisty way the mood of the chick kicking it on a brilliant Thursday afternoon, just looking for a little mischief.

Just A Little Bit More -- Sonatta Morales at The Month of Games and !Elemental at Designer Showcase

Yes, there's more to show you. Time is running out... tick tick tick... but that doesn't mean I can't race towards the finish line and show you a few more pieces from The Month of Games like this pretty short summery gown from Sonatta called Miss Cindy.
I've added jewelry new from the Designer Showcase for August from !Elemental Jewelry. The brilliant tones in Ophelia add a pop of color and the gold allows the tiny gold balls floating around the head like a halo and waist as well to shimmer.

It's Not Over -- Featuring EMO-tions, Essenze at Designer Showcase, !Lyrical B!zarre Templates at Art in Hats, and [AD] - Angels and Demos

Designer Showcase comes around new every month with new temptations, and new ideas from designers you might recognize and sometimes designers who you've never seen previously. The shoes from Essenz have a color change HUD so you get 6 tones for the price of one pair of shoes and at a reduced price because it's a sale room. They have a range of colors that will work with every season as well. **Important News Designer Showcase has moved: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Corrupted%20Innocence/163/57/23
I got so invested in the project earlier this Spring put together by the team at SAVIAD that I had the choice to pick a few items I'd like to blog as a 'prize' and still have a few of those items. This Louise dress from [AD] Angels and Demons was one of my choices. I liked it's elegant texturing and the fact that it was a knee length skirt. Not too fancy, not too casual and tres chic. New hair and jewelry from EMO-tions, the hair called Roxeanne and the jewelry called Beloved come as the last pieces from my blogging for EMO-tions specifically and as I work through all the pieces from each designer who'd helped make my blog successful, I counted each piece with the joy that designer brought. Mirja Mills keeps her products up to date, with fashion and with what crafters can do in SL.
The little mesh pieces of the hat from Art in Hats by Lyrical B!zarre Templates seem to flutter away, almost like little life critters instead of a simple hat. At water's edge, with a sea breeze, it's easy to see why they would lift off and try to fly. I really enjoy Lyrical Bizarre's ability to take an idea in 2d and build it in different programs that I cannot follow for the life of me, like Greek only worse! then makes the most fascinating shapes and fashion for us to try as a result. This hat is but one small example of that.

My deep felt thanks for each designer who supplied items to make this blog possible:

So Unique - Another World - ~Ss~ and Candy Nail from Japan Fair Plus FINESMITH Mika Earrings

The colors and styles of Kimonos offer something truly different than what I wear in my little tiny corner of the world in South Carolina. I have found myself in awe several times as I got to work with some of the designers who contributed to the JAPAN FAIR 2014.

This weekend, you will find the Japan Fair going strong, seeking your support until the very last minute at the end of the weekend. I hope you might find your way there if you haven't and if you have, I and many others thank you for your support.

I'm beyond grateful for the privilege of working with this fair!

Elegance And I -- Featuring Miamai's Fashion Pride Gown Plus [AMARELO MANGO], [ChicZafari] and Kyxe

From time to time, I find myself styling different looks that push me away from my comfort zone. While this is probably healthy for all of us, online or not, it's more challenging and always leaves me ready to come home to my personal aesthetic.

Many stores offer customers an array of styles, so that whatever YOUR personal aesthetic, you'll find something there that suits your needs. Miamai is one of those stores, and this elegant gown comes from the creative mind that built Miamai into the fashion success it is today.

I've been to Miamai a number of times over the past few years, shopping randomly or searching for something specific, and I found it. There are poses, avatar accessories, clothing, and when referencing clothing, a massive array of styles of clothing, and so much more.

There are times I've been to shop there and found myself literally lost. It was a good sort of lost, though. It gave me time to explore nooks and crannies I hadn't seen before.

Tonight I'm sharing a gown from Miama that was created for the Fashion Pride event. It won't be difficult to find this special gown and I hope you're inspired to own one of your own.

The jewelry comes from [AMARELO MANGA] and I have not show it to you before and the clutch from [ChicZafari] also is new to me, not shown on my blog previously. Mesh nail appliers from Kyxe Skins & Shapes are also brand new.

Thank you to the many designers who helped make this styling possible:

Getting Ready To Visit a Special Event -- Featuring Carrie's Lingerie, h.m.a.e.m., and [#7]

This evening, I popped into Second Life for a brief visit and got a nudge from a friend to attend a big event. I had to find something to wear and I thought that it would be useful if I styled something new to blog.

One of my favorite things about Carrie's Lingerie becomes apparent if you look at the transformation. i was in a formal gown called Sparkle - aptly named!! - to attend the event.

Afterward, I pulled off the long gown skirt and voila. I had a sexy sitting room bit of sensuality. I grabbed a glass of champagne and toasted the special weekend it has been. A new Miss Virtual World was crowned.

Other news revealed the top votes from AVI choice, and others celebrated their anniversary of joining this Second Life, and still others just had a great holiday evening. I tugged off the corset, and slid into bed with my someone special, thinking of holiday, brilliant stars of memories to savor.

I'm In a New York State of Mind

I'm partial to Snowpaws for many reasons, but one of the ones at the core of the positive emotions resounds in the relationship I've been privileged to develop over time with Carrie Snowpaw.

Way... way... back in time, she supported the Face of Face Paint contest with Eve Express, committing new outfits to the winner(s).

I had peripherally known of Snowpaws for a long time prior to March 2012, but when I won one of the spots at Face Paint thus also winning clothing from Snowpaws, I got to know it a bit more.

Ever since, I have worked with Carrie Snowpaw, writing the weekly blog, posting sales, special events, news and fashion shows she's done. All the while, besides a business relationship building trust, we also developed a welcome friendship.

She's one of those people you simply want to know because she exudes a warmth that is genuine, and in her little niche in Second Life, she's poured out that warmth to so many many people.

Not only does she participate in a half dozen or so special sales events each week, she also joins hunts and makes high quality treasures for those hunts, and then there are all the ways you can win free items.

But there's even more to it than that. Every so often, I think of the phrase, "Go the extra mile," and how it relates to her and to Snowpaws. She contributes items to a conglomeration of charity based fund raisers.

No, she's not a Saint yet, but I don't know if anyone has petitioned the new Pope Francis to recognize her as one... yet. When I get to work with and for someone who offers more of herself than she ever asks, I consider myself the lucky one.

If you've never visited Snowpaws, you should. People have so many motives in Second Life, some of them seemingly unsavory, but at Snowpaws, there's always a sense of goodness with a splash of fun and naughty in a good way. Her motives come through as crystal clear and full of hope.

A side note, about the fun nails I have on in the photo (see the zoomed in photo), these are the cleverest drops of fun ever to drip on my fingertips. The set of 10 nails each have little tea party dishes. They're some of my favorite ever from Candy Nail and they were in a Gacha machine for only 50L. Fun at a great price. Who can do better than that?

Pretty Girl Is Suffering While He Confesses Everything

Yesterday I was approached by Heath Blessed who asked me for support and help with a project he and his partner Ilyssa are working on and I investigated a bit then joined his team. Of all the things I can do with my time online, raising money to help others less fortunate than I makes me feel like I'm using my time wisely.

This is the information I have so far:

  1. They want to orchestrate an event in Second Life that will include kiosks, a fair and several fashion shows.
  2. They want to donate money to the Kids Help Phone (kidshelpphone.ca) and have already contacted the agency to orchestrate this with them.
  3. They seek individuals, groups, designers and models to help them accomplish their dream.
  4. They began an in world group that you're welcome to join called ~Arret Le Saignement~ (Stop the bleeding.) and encourage you to join and get involved if you are willing and able to help.

Most of the photos I take intentionally look happy. Happy people wearing beautiful clothing makes others feel good. Today, I looked for a way to be beautiful but also to look wistful, thoughtful, even sad.

Then I found lyrics by Pink. I don't know her personal story but from the lyrics she sings, I sense that she had a very difficult childhood. I read through the lyrics of Pretty Girl and it seemed to be an apt song to associate with this fundraiser, so I used some of the lyrics to name these two photos. There are agencies around the world, not just in Canada, set up to help children similar to the Kids Helpline. I hope you're motivated to join in this and any project in our shared Second Life that touches your heart and if there is any way you can help with Heath and Ilyssa's project, I know they'd be grateful to hear from you.

What Is Your Passion?

This weekend, I caught the marathon version of this season's Top Chef. Like many reality television opportunities, this show offers something very special and important. One of the participants had to make a difficult decision near the end of the series because his wife went into labor while he was far away in Alaska competing and he chose his passion to create fine foods and the opportunities potentially his, should he win the competition rather than packing up and heading home. He missed his daughter's birth. Was it a good thing or bad thing? I don't know how to quantify such a choice. For him in that moment, he embraced his passion and he stood strong in his belief that his family supported him even in his absence for such a great moment.

The people I've met in Second Life show different levels of passion. To some I suppose it really is just a video game and that's great for them. To others, however, it's part of their life. Despite the fact that it occurs in virtual space, it still occurs and means a great deal. Those who share a passion for art or design or commerce or any other niche in Second Life sacrifice other things in their world to make their passion their reality.

The designer for Liv-Glam works tirelessly to create beautiful items daily. I think she eats, sleeps and breathes her passion into her Second Life business. It shows too. Cucinelli, the pretty little pink frock seen in the photo. While some designers bring out new items once every two weeks or so, Samantha of Liv-Glam brings out multiple items in a day or so.

I enjoy finding new designers as well and the boots from Joops look to be just the first of many items to come. Perhaps this will also be a new passion embraced by Magical, the name behind the new brand.  It always makes me smile to see new names appear, new items, and especially new ideas. It's so hard to find new things to try in Second Life, but with a bit of imagination and passion, many things could be achieved.

One of my favorite locations to snap photos sponsors a contest, planning to be monthly, with it's kick-off this month. These photos come from the Zen garden at Image Essentials. I've added a border to these shots but the raw shots are entered on Flickr, and I look forward to more challenges in the months to come. If you like photography or modeling or other artistic expression and want more information, contact Kay Weston or Ally Dwyer.

Reposted from thebestofSL.com - I've Seen Fire and I've Seen Rain

This year may be the best yet in my Second Life. I began in 2005 as another version of Caryn and have seen it grow and evolve in so many ways. I love the history - Once upon a time bling jewelry was THE it thing to wear and if you could blind your neighbor, that was better still. Now? No way. I think the speed we live life online makes experiences curious. It's hard to perceive how much or little time has passed since... If you're on vacation and away for a few days, literally off line for 3 days, and you return, it feels like you've missed an eon. If you stay up all night typing or talking in voice, the newer faster and finger friendly way to connect, the night seems to pass as quick as lightning, and then ... gone.

EMO-tions Sunburst 2.3.2013

 I'm so blessed to be working with an array of stellar designers. Mirja Mills creates new hair week after week, and does so in such a way that regardless how you live your life in Second Life, a new release will suit your needs often, from the calm and sweet to the vivacious and wild. This hair called Sunburst reminded me of flames all around my face and as a massive James Taylor fan, the song Fire and Rain came to mind. How apt is that song to this world in our shared Second Life. Some days are so incredible, and I feel like I'm on top of the world. Other days are challenging or sad.

I've Seen Fire and I've Seen Rain 2.13.2013

 I had not yet unpacked this beautiful gown from Azul that a generous friend gave me at Christmas. It also reminded me of flames blazing, a world brilliant and crazy and wonderful. However, my January has been on of those months that JT sang about when he considered the rain. He was only 20 and he'd just lost a friend to suicide when he wrote Fire and Rain. I spent the month in fear of that big C word - Cancer. Biopsies. Medicine. Doctors. I would have preferred to be across the world playing hooky from my life, but I think the universe keeps us in balance with the fire an the rain, the light and the dark, and the ups and downs... If we did not have one, we would not understand the other. The biopsies came back - BENIGN. It was the light I needed after a long storm.

Azul, EMO-tions, and Chop Zuey 2.13.2013

 I put this outfit together, celebrating the warmth of the sun and the warmth of friendships that burn brighter than any fire deep in our souls. I've seen fire and I've seen rain. I've seen lonely days, but I've been blessed and found friends to carry me in the weak moments, and keep me warm. The jewelry fit in well to this theme today. Chop Zuey has several locations where there are exclusive items sold. Ms. Belle told me of October Bettencourt's Fashion Chamber and I visited today, happy to find the "Love Struck" set, hearts and white gold, reminding me in another way of how love works. It can be bold and blunt or quiet and calm, and from those who know us best, they often know what we need without ever speaking a word. I'm glad for those people in my world who remind me of all the brilliance in my world, both on and off line. It's priceless.

Also seen in photo: Oceane's Rose Natural Honey Tan, Poetic Eyes - Autumn Moon, Gaeline Mesh Lashes - Divina, Noya - Red Ribbon Heels, Face Paint: Lip Pop and Sparkle Shadows, Poses by Focus Poses and Wet Cat, all photos taken on second floor of October Bettencourts Fashion Chamber

A New Designer at Liv-Glam Produces the K-Collection

The more talent the Owner of Liv-Glam gathers, the more diverse the items available will be and with that even more of you will find delicious items suitable to YOUR sense of taste.

I paired the long over-knee Odeur boots from Stella with the new mini dress called Believe from the K-Collection. The white on black certainly made the pattern pop!

You'll notice perhaps that this is not one of my regular skins, but something new from SEANU. It's got a good base tone though the shadowing for the face makes me feel a little bit like a different me. Most skins do that though. I guess we all eventually feel comfortable in our own skin, even when it's pixels.

It's Been A While: EMO-tions (1.19.2013 Releases)

It's been a while for me to share ideas and information here. My world off line has been tugging more than usual. I imagine we all have that occur from time to time. Hopefully after tomorrow gets sorted, things return to my normal. Blogging for me offers such a release, and because of that, it's beyond fun.

While I've been away, EMO-tions has had two new release weekends. I'm dividing them accordingly to be sure you know which ones came first. This first style, Bittersweet is long and wavy, and will appear in an entire series with this gorgeous Chop Zuey Zenshi exclusive jewelry and a sexy layered lingerie set, so you'll see it from other angles as well as this.

This hair from EMO-tions, Maresol, offers a unique updo with or without the scarf attached to the hair. I've never been very good at manipulating my long straight hair into braids or updos so when I find styles like this from EMO-tions, it fulfills a little nook of need I've wanted for quite a long time.

Another extremely long style, Shima, reminded me of photos of my family with my mother happily sporting the distinct hippie look. I don't recall the late 60s or early 70s because I was just a wee tyke, but photos like this are familiar to me. It's a great retro style.

Dot-Be Fashion, Shiki, Luminesse, ~Shadow Moon~ and {Co*Motion} PMVH

EvaAlmighty strikes again, this time with a super Valentine hunt. From time to time, I will be sharing items from various designers that are part of the hunt. I try to remember to paste the logo for an event on each photo to help differentiate between events.

I have the joy of working with Dot-Be Fashion and love BonieFacio's casual comfort style. I pulled on a pair of jeans from one of his new releases this month, "GianCarlo" to go with the heart hoodie he submitted for PMVH.

One of the things I like best about Shiki is how they treat their group members. I've been to this store several times and found myself lost in the vastness of this designer's creative mind. The floral outfit seen here includes the dress and unique applique of flowers across the chest. Beyond searching for hunt items, I encourage you to visit Shiki. If their style suits your aesthetic, you will find a thousand ideas to try and enjoy.

The outfit comes from ~Shadow Moon~, complete from head to toe. And keeping with the Valentine theme, hearts appear several times in the cardigan, and warm reds remind me of a pulsing heartbeat that quickens when true love appears. I particularly like this boot/shoe. I wore leggings over almost everything in the year following the release of Flashdance, all those years ago.

You'll find the necklace hidden at Luminesse. I've learned a lot about fashion in the past year or so, and realize now that there are so many things yet to learn. A total image should feel right as well as look right, and the wrong jewelry or hair choice or heels just spoils the best of efforts. With such a great casual look, the necklace Luminesse provided worked perfectly, enhancing the casual look rather than clashing with it.

Every day, new designers appear on Second Life, and every day that means we have more options for so many different things. I'd not heard of the store {Co*motion} till I joined this hunt. I also have not worked with many items or props that helped set a pose other than furniture. I'll hold your heart in my hand... this heart comes with one of many of {Co*Motion}'s static poses.

~~~~
Another outfit, I styled comes from Liv-Glam. I cannot say enough to share how I feel about the designer and staff team at this store. I count my blessings each day when I have the privilege of trying a new item, looking at ideas as a work in progress, and getting to know a group of amazing people in the process.
The Shannel works many layers into one outfit. From head to toe, both mesh and system pieces add detail to the overall look. I particularly enjoy the jacket design. Tidbits like that always catch my eye, and as much as each of us look towards ways we can find a unique perspective in what could be a repetitive environment, such tidbits remain a constant extra special touch from Liv-Glam.
Dot-Be Fashion and Two Hunt Items
Dot-Be Fashion provides many opportunities for you to find great little treasures hidden in the store because they continue to participate in a number of grid-wide hunts.
The dark open top comes from the Wolf Hunt and I paired it with a Boho style skirt from the second half of the Womenstuff Hunt. Either top or bottom could be styled a number of ways or paired together as I have.
Winter Fair: Two Sisters Treasures and More from h.m.a.e.m.
It's a delight to work with this year's Winter Fair. I know the grid was giving the location grief today but eventually, Linden Lab sorts the frustration and the fair opened!
Who would pass up such a sexy catsuit?! This release from h.m.a.e.m. took my breath away and won many compliments when I wore it to work yesterday. It along with the beautiful diamonds and gold in the Winter Princess set from Two Sisters really catch the eye. There's an old song that came to mind as I heard the positive comments about the outfit, "I feel pretty, oh so pretty..." (from West Side Story, the musical) and when something makes me sing, I figure that's a good thing. I hope you enjoy the many items I will share over the next few weeks that come from the Winter Fair and some of them will make YOU sing too.
Liv-Glam New Releases
Liv-Glam continues to surprise all of us with the array of items created and sold. This week, there were new boots, dresses, pants suits and even some lingerie!
The Trussardi Knit Dress, seen in the photo above on the left, certainly looks appealingly warm. It's texture has been expertly created to look exactly like the real deal. Sometimes I'm amazed at how well this Second Life mirrors our world. Several prints in a HUD make the dress even more diverse. The Santoni Chemise  Lingerie, also shown in the photo above on the right, marks another first for Liv-Glam. If you've appreciated the diversity of Liv-Glam, you will even more so now. And for this first sexy bit of satin frill to tease your special someone, you get a spaghetti strap shoulder, but oops one shoulder's already moved! ~wolf whistle~
This pair of boots, shown above in black with gold buckles, came to Liv-Glam as a Limited release. Zoffany Boots are available in the Fall 2012 pantone colors, but you must get yours before all 50 pair are sold. They've also been released in the Winter 2012 pantone colors. (Additionally, Liv-Glam chose to release the recent Palladium Stud boots seen in an earlier blog post in the Fall 2012 colors as a limited 50 only release.)
After this summer's romper, which I loved, I've been ever hopeful that there would be a jumpsuit released and my wish came true. It must have been my shooting star. Several patterns come with the Trudi Winter jumpsuit, all perfect for the season. The pattern boldly paints the bodice, then a long swathe of black fabric traces from just under the rib cage to a few inches above the ankle, then the pattern repeats itself at the ankle.
