Wishing Well

One of my favorite artists of all time painted a portrait of my perfect world. If I could dance into the fantasy world of Thomas Kincade and the painting Make a Wish Cottage I would go today. It's been that special place in my mind where I could go if the world seemed to roar or spin out of control, and I wouldn't need to pack a thing.

Today I found a special place in Second Life that inspired the same energy, hope and fun. As I lay back thinking about the wish that I would wish the most, my mind traveled. I watched how the sun filtered brilliantly through the trees and I was mesmerized. The comfortable pant suit I wore made it easy to look chic and appreciate the setting. Violet Crush Bravin does a little bit of everything in Second Life's fashion community, from managing a modeling agency to designing her own line. I saw this Belladonna sweater and pants in her new releases information and knew I wanted to wear and share it on my next blog.

It's an oasis for the mind, this essence of hope and physical representation of that hope, but when Blink 182 sang about a Wishing Well, their lyrics went in another direction.

I went to a wishing well, I sank to the ocean floor Cut up by sharper rocks and washed up along the shore I reached for a shooting star, it burned a hole through my hand Made its way through my heart; Have fun in the promised land

Maybe there's a warning here, even on the edge of perfect hope, to be careful what you wish for, and be sure you really want it. I have had the time of my life in Second Life. It's a venue that allows for fantasy and reality to meld together. It's a place I can wish for something, then work hard to make sure that wish come true. I haven't quite arrived there... yet. I've met models and designers and many others invested in the fashion world who feel like they wished something and ended up cut up by sharper rocks and washed up on the shore. Be encouraged. It takes patience and time, and sometimes a few bumps and bruises, but the secret is  your steadfast determination. Not every wish will come true, however, no one every told me how often I could visit that serene and safe place and I've never heard there's a limited number of wishes.

VCB and Chop Zuey and Image Essentials Studio

I've had the joy of working with Violet Crush Bravin in several settings and admire the amount of work she accomplishes on any given day. Wow! One of her tricks up her sleeve is to create and create and create some more... new clothing that includes system style, sculpts, flexi and mesh for great combinations. As this is the end of the month of January, this is the last of the January items I will post. I had to choose one that was fun and different from what I'd tried other times this month and this outfit is cool.

A black long sleeve lace top keeps the arms warm over a sweetheart neckline mini dress. Flexi flairs around the waist and lace poufs just right below the first dark blue layer of the skirt tying together the look.

I paired this with new releases from Chop Zuey, pieces used by those awe inspiring MVW finale candidates. The Eilifu Black Set decorated my throat, nestled very close as a choker, earring match and a bracelet completes the set. After seeing all the work those women put into the contest, it's special to own a little piece of history linked to that momentous event.

VCB Designs and a New Skin by Candy Metal

Yet another skin to review and more by VCB Designs are shared here.

I found the perfect location to snap a few photos of Renesme Buckskin Coat and Outfit. Violet has released an incredible number of items this month and I've only shown you a few. Her sense of style works with everything from the carefree and casual to the elegant and even fanciful.

It's Been A While: EMO-tions (1.19.2013 Releases)

It's been a while for me to share ideas and information here. My world off line has been tugging more than usual. I imagine we all have that occur from time to time. Hopefully after tomorrow gets sorted, things return to my normal. Blogging for me offers such a release, and because of that, it's beyond fun.

While I've been away, EMO-tions has had two new release weekends. I'm dividing them accordingly to be sure you know which ones came first. This first style, Bittersweet is long and wavy, and will appear in an entire series with this gorgeous Chop Zuey Zenshi exclusive jewelry and a sexy layered lingerie set, so you'll see it from other angles as well as this.

This hair from EMO-tions, Maresol, offers a unique updo with or without the scarf attached to the hair. I've never been very good at manipulating my long straight hair into braids or updos so when I find styles like this from EMO-tions, it fulfills a little nook of need I've wanted for quite a long time.

Another extremely long style, Shima, reminded me of photos of my family with my mother happily sporting the distinct hippie look. I don't recall the late 60s or early 70s because I was just a wee tyke, but photos like this are familiar to me. It's a great retro style.

A Mixed Bag of This and That

The Pimp My Valentine Hunt is in full swing. It will continue to run through the fifteenth of Februay. Many of the items are precious fun pieces to add to your avi that celebrate the lovers' holiday.

Kaithleen contributed this sexy and short mesh skirt to the PMVH hunt. Because I've worked with her designs before, I know this is a great example of her work and quality. Paired with this, also from the PMVH hunt comes the choker you see in the photo. I know they didn't collaborate, but the way the choker from Freya seemed to match the skirt was great (one note - the choker is color change so it will also go with other great looks).

You also see a new pair of boots called 80s Flat Knee High boots from [VCB]. The top also comes from [VCB] and pulled the overall look together. I don't go 'dark' very often, but when I do get pieces that lend themselves well to it, I go for it.

Eladon Galsworthy (newly married in world congrats!) and PondLife (Intimate Live) has a massive array of items you might find useful for the lover's holiday. Whether you want something sweet and innocent or something extra naughty, you'll find it at PondLife.

This beautiful field of flowers were planted to match this vibrantly colored pair of overalls. One shoulder remains unhooked, making the overalls look even cuter. The boots come with this outfit, adding to the vibrant brilliant colors of the overall look. If I stood really still, I wonder if a bee would try to pollinate me.

Liv-Glam and [VCB] Plus PMVH Items from Rivendell and Baubles

With the arrival of 2013, it's time for me to take new risks, step outside the box so to speak, and play with camera angles, settings in world regarding light and shadow, and go beyond just taking a photo. I know this, like any other step, will take time to perfect and in the process, sometimes it will look amazing while other times I will shake my head and grimace.

Inundated with all the holidays and family and things distracting, it'd been a while since I really sifted through the amazing designs that pour out of  Liv-Glam. I truly adore the designer and tease her about the story of the shoemaker and the elves, and ask her from time to time where she hides her elves.

I LOVED this new dress. It's a favorite, a nod to Asian style, and the beauty of texturing. It's rare for me to want to take so many different photos, but this comes from the fun of the moment, a step beyond the responsibility to the blog. Playing with lighting is one way I have evolved my photography, shooting pictures with all sorts of lighting, night and day. When I added Face Paint's new Sophisticate's "Poison" (preview for the full release coming soon), it looked stunning. A make-up that fits any time of day makes the investment even more appealing.

I joined Chop Zuey's group after only a few thousand nudges from my boss at Face Paint. I know how big a fan Eve is and I know she just wanted me to see the beauty in Chop Zuey creations. I owned a few pieces from Chop Zuey, but now I have so many new pieces to explore. Thanks to a good friend's generous holiday gift and Chop Zuey's holiday countdown 'gifts' still out at her store, I had the greatest fortune. The Black Ice set enhanced the design of the dress, and gave the sparkle that great jewelry provides. A special thanks to Belle for sharing so many treats during the holidays. I'm so blessed and grateful.

The Unique III had six different metallic color pattern options. I loved this one, with a nod to silver and nature, and a peek towards the arrival of spring. Standing in front of the purple irises by the sea, I realized how much like a blooming flower this dress reminded me.

The skin from Mirror's Enigma eases away from my most familiar skin only slightly. I had the option of using with or without cleavage enhancement, and with the keyhole cutout of the dress, I went with the cleavage enhancement. Tres jolie!

Candy Nail remains one of my favorite nail designers. They have an array of new releases and the Enishi White seen in the photo shows one of several colors in similar style.

Defining what jewelry is needed and when to wear it continues to be a challenge for me. I rarely use jewelry off line. I love the chance to own and wear gorgeous jewelry in Second Life, however, and embrace the treat that's not part of my other world. Chop Zuey had one set created in both white and yellow gold. With the overall silvery look, I knew the white gold version of MaSong fit perfectly.

[VCB] remains a new designer to me. This is the third outfit I've styled that she created and thought the layers and options included in this dress made it more enjoyable and easier to refer others to try. The simple short mini pops in bright pastel tones.

Two pieces seen in the photo with the shorter version of the Renee in Confetti dress are from the PMVH event. You'll notice a simple heart necklace from Rivendell and an unusual piece from Baubles that remind me of brass knuckles. I'm so not a tough girl, yet I wore the Dog Tags w/Small Hearts and knew they were a complete opposite to the pretty necklace from Rivendell. Soft and hard, hearts and brass knuckles. Fun items, hidden for your enjoyment.

When the long flexi skirt attaches, the gown becomes an entirely different dress. I stood quietly in a meadow as the sun set and wondered if I were very quiet, would the fae come and sing to me as they lit the sky dancing at dusk. I never saw a fairy while I walked along the path, but the dream was there.

A New Approach to Blogging in 2013... Experiencing Designs and Designers as I Go and Grow

This year, I'm changing several things regarding my blog. One is the font size. It seems like a nominal thing until I looked to the feeds that I'm gratefully a part of and realized that my text was all jumbled because it was too large to fit into their pages. Another thing I'm going to do is style what I have, what I enjoy, and mix and match designers in the same entry. I have developed an appreciation for a number of designers, things I particularly enjoy, and work with a group of people I admire greatly. It's no surprise that the longer someone works in the fashion business in Second Life, the more information is gained and a better broader view as well. I know more what I like, who I respect and who I want to represent. It's a great way to begin a new year.

Several versions of the Liv-Glam BodyCon dress were released this past week. The most coveted one, the Limited, is the one I chose to model. I find the limited designs in Second Life always a treat. It's nice to know that running into someone with the same outfit on is rare when wearing one.

I began working with VioletCrush Bravin, [VCB] early in the year of 2012. It wasn't til recently, however, that I knew she owned her own clothing line. Besides running a modeling academy, putting together fashion shows and other labor intensive things, so makes beautiful clothing like this Anberlin Green Fantasy.

For years, I've said nutty little things about how quickly it is that stores take apart Christmas decor and replace with Valentine items. Then I got involved in the fashion industry. I know this isn't exactly the same regimen but it is similar. For a designer to be ready for Valentine sales, they begin creating things before Christmas has even come! Angelina White reminded me of several things... weddings... fairies... and ultimately cupid. So I have my rose petals. Now I need to find my bow and arrow. Be ware, you could be my next target.

It's such a treat working with an array of clever and intelligent designers. The art they create, from clothing to shoes to jewelry often stuns me. A few tools and a great mind combine to create some of the most beautiful things. Indyra Originals released this Native Fox...

in both bronze (seen in the photos) and black with other colors potentially on the horizon. I found each tiny detail from the bangles to the clutch made this outfit a great beauty and so easy to wear.

Zenshi South opened this weekend, and many designers were invited to rent in this area by Avenue. If they chose to join Avenue and place a satellite store in this area, they agreed to release exclusive designs only available at Zenshi South. Zanze is one of those stores...

and the exclusives from Zanze will leave you breathless. This first week's advertisement from Avenue included two stores and two outfits. One was from Zanze, this dress that comes with a cocktail length and long gown length, called Lialah appeared on their announcement. I've been a Zanze fan for a while now and with the exclusives at Zenshi, I know I'm going to love it even more!

I've begun to journey around Second Life, finding beautiful places and meeting new people. Sometimes meeting an elf in a forest can be far better than meeting an orc. But whether elf or orc, the forests I found were beautiful. Till next time... adieu...
