Costumes and Fun -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, Sabra Style, Chop Zuey, Dark Horse Style; :{MV}: from the Promenade

This compilation began with a new look from A.F.I Designs called SheWonka. It's the time of year when designers from all over the place put a lot of fun into their already great work. It comes with a tiny Wonka top hat that I decided not to use. I pulled on a pair of dark purple Moira slacks from a new release from Sabra Style. The earrings sparkle brightly the talent of Belle and Chop Zuey.
More new nails to show you, thanks to the opening of the store Dark Horse Style, this time Gold Stripe Polka Dot Dark. A mouthful but beautiful on the hands. Beautiful sandals from :{MV}: called Liberty come from the Promenade. I have fun with every new outfit I get to put together but I do love the fun frivolity of Halloween.

Friends, Fun, Events and More -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, Moondance Boutique, Designer Showcase w/Lindy and 24 Squared w/.:JUMO:.

I'm home! This afternoon, I slept for more than a little nap, and feel like I might catch up soon. It's amazing how much sun and surf demand of the body. Even if all you do is sit there!

A good lady, great DJ and friend also happens to create content for sale at her store, A.F.I Designs. Every now and then, she nudges my IM and asks, "Want to blog something for me?" This time, it's this unique two layer mini. The alpha layer of the top piece is shear, and the second piece is solid. Chic and very fashion now.
Siren Productions puts together awesome events every other month. I don't know how they keep up with everything. I admire the work and enjoy participating as a blogger. Once, I even got to be one of their live models. If you visit 24 Squared, you'll see great designs like the clutch here from .:JUMO:. - only one example of multiple awesome pieces JUMO has at this event by the way!
Before I went to Event Only blogging, I worked with a classy group of various designers. The jewelry set I found in my folder from Moondance Boutique says "Earth Day" set. But it's something I haven't used yet, so here is Mia Earth Set. It matched the dress perfectly. So I'm glad I discovered it.

>Asset< continues to create a very middle of the road unisex style for hair, and this Lasher hair recently released follows that formula, and would suit either gender, depending on your aesthetic and personal taste. I find that I really enjoy using men's hair, especially when it's a short style. It's often scruffier, and looks more like the hair styles that are mussed on the runway.

I'm not sure how I got these out of order.
Blame it on the rain or the brain. DJ A.F.I is not just a fantastic spinner of tunes.
She also creates great designs. I pulled together this chic look with her new Bloom dress and blackLiquid's newest Virgin spex.
There are several other pair of shades in this collection so you'll find something that suits your needs too!

Friends Are the Glue That Hold Us All Together -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, [GoS] Boutique and EMO-tions

Everyone has the opportunity online to begin a life as an unknown, an alias, someone who can say what they want, do what they want and in their anonymity there are few consequences. How could we prove something did or didn't happen? It's hard to sift through the really good con artists and separate them from the ones who are being genuine.
A long time ago, I decided I would take people at face value. I didn't listen to the gossip, or worry about this detail or that. When I met someone new, I made a point to see if Karyn could get to know XMan or YWoman, and determine for myself if the person had traits I admired, could work with and enjoy. Just becomes a group of people might blacklist this person or that, I still choose to get to know who I wish to know, and find out my own answers regarding past errors.
A funny thing about errors, as an side note here. It only takes one or two big error moments and months or years of work crumble. Errors can be blown out of proportion by those who want to create harm and stress, and they can be controlled like a healthy fire, with the right people, the supportive friends, and the vulnerable heart shown after the fact, where the one who erred apologized for the brief stupid moment allowing everyone to settle.
DJ A.F.I was one of those people I met quite randomly. The moment we began talking, there was an interesting connection. I don't chat with her weekly, but I do keep in touch from month to month as she does her gigs and designs, and I do my blog and my other small stuff. We spent a good bit of time building a trusting business relationship. Out of the blue, this evening, she took a step that's not always easy to take, and asked me about me. We chatted a bit and I felt like this remarkable woman truly meant to pause and ask about me, and then made the effort to listen and respond. Thank you for that, and for your ongoing friendship. I'm grateful. This dress is the Rain Dress by her A.F.I Designs. Brand new heels from [GoS] and awesome Gacha hair from EMO-tions were all useful to play until I got the look I wanted to share.

I thank each designer who made this blog possible with the depth of my heart:

The Vixen From A.F.I Designs Plus Treats from Easter Market: Persefona, Icons of Style, and Maniac Quintessa

At the Easter Market, there are some serious things and a lot of little playful things that ring in Spring. I enjoy both extremes and most anything anyone can create that falls between serious and playful.
This morning, I framed three photos that show the clever use of props with poses from Icons of Style. There were quite a few choices of little gold eggs like the ones I'm holding, and then there was an egg cluster with poses as well. I also included Persefona's colorful floral headband from Easter Market as well as Maniac Quintessa's Seeing Red heels.
The AFI Designs creator sent me Vixen, this little mini dress. I have decided that many spring designs will be perfect to wear with the colorfully tattooed skin gifts from Kyxe Skins & Shapes, as you can see so much of the art with this particular dress.
I think I've tried every combination of the mesh eyes from KMADD/MODA Designs and continue to comb through the spectrum of choices, finding new color schemes, a little bit of this and a little bit of that, still discovering new 'oooh' moments with the styles and colors available.

Thank you to each designer who made this style possible:

So Chic -- Featuring from SAVIAD Orsini Red and PoseWay -- Also Featuring Kyxe Skins & Shapes A.F.I Designs and EnvyMe

Today's styling, or first styling (in case I get industrious later!!), comes from SAVIAD Spring Fair once again, and features two color options from OrsiniRed, Alegria and Dark Bloom.

The poses are from the Liquidation set at PoseWay.

Besides these two special things from the fair, I've also shared Kyxe Skins & Shapes Walnut skin tone with new makeup. Many of Kyxe's skins have gotten a face lift so to speak, adding new features, new makeup and other tidbits that make it even better than better.

A.F.I Designs provided the Noctis jewelry set and EnvyMe created the harem pants. A whole array of designers and items makes the puzzle a beautiful challenge, each and every time! I hope you enjoy!

My sincere thanks to the designers who made this style possible:

I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat -- SAVIAD: A.F.I Designs, Zibska, {{BSD}}, and PosESioN

One of the things I do to fill time is watch movies voraciously. I watch great movies, blockbusters and movies you've probably never heard existed. I've noticed many of the movies I've seen recently showed a post-apocalyptic world where humans were forced to start over and rebuild the world we know currently or a world on the brink of self-destruction, missing weapons, hidden agendas, and a global economy that's rapidly deteriorating. Is this the world we live in now?

I'm not a dramatist, nor am I a sensationalist. I see so much shared, even on so-called news stations that seem intent on generating fear, and I don't accept it. If the world were on the brink of collapse, I wouldn't live any differently than I do now.

I love taking one day at a time and finding the silver lining. I love making time to play and be silly. I love focusing on those I adore. I love ignoring those things or people who would try to tug away my peace and joy. I could wallow easily, but then what? I loved styling my latest outfit with items from SAVIAD Spring Fair.

First the beautiful "Birdy" dress from A.F.I Designs, then a unique hat "Sadie" (noir) from Zibska, wild heels "Lover From Mars" (wearing two pair to create the striped look) from BSD Design studio, and finally more new poses from PosESioN.

I'm so grateful to the designers who made this outfit possible:

On the Precipice -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, KMADD/Moda, {{BSD}}, [Underscore], .charme.

I can't help but feel that sense of stepping closer and closer to the edge of the precipice that's been with me for a couple of days now. It's so much larger than the psyche and what I try to share online. I suppose we all feel mortal from time to time, and at the end of one year and the beginning of another, I pondered like many of you did, "What would happen next?"

I wish I felt as well put together as I look in the photos I've shared. I styled them on the 30th and photographed on the 1st. It's a great look that came together between the old year and new. I scrolled back to the beginning of my flickr photostream. I think a year makes a lot of difference. I love what I'm doing now, more than I did then, and know there is so much more I want to do.

I heard a quote this week in a maelstrom of movies I've watched that were filmed from 1980 to the present. Paraphrased, At 30 we realize that we must stop looking for the person we will be when we grow up and start analyzing the person we are now. It was about milestones and I can see milestones along my path and know many others have found their own on their journey.

This holiday, there were the gnattering arguments, frustrating family tiffs, good food, sweet time with family and for all that was frustrating, there were good things to lend balance. Instead of dealing with the crisis of 30, I'm somewhere else.

During each experience, good or bad, I kept seeing life from another point of view, as if I could already be 70 and look back on those moments and feel them for what they were. I knew that some of the negative energy would always be a way of life but with a bit of focus, I could help encourage positive energy.

I took a deep breath and looked into my personal future and saw the big scary C word. It's something so many of you have shared as your own personal challenge. Because I know I'm at a precipice, unlike anything I've ever faced up til now, I paused and took another look at different things that happened, and brushed off things that could have hurt and held on to those that were precious.

None of us have a calendar, a proof that today we're here, and tomorrow we will be too. None of us like facing mortality, but when we do, we all have that twinge of the idea, "If I knew it was the last...then I'd do it different." That defined my holiday, my family time, my bounce into this new year. And not I'm going to take it one step at a time, holding on to friends and family as I do.

Walkin` In a Winter Wonderland -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, EMO-tions, Luziefee, and .::Shellack

The limited gown from A.F.I Designs shows you the whimsy and frolic that's synonymous with this time of year. I think I look suitable to be cast in a new winter movie, or dressed perfectly for a visit to the snow park at Rockefeller Plaza in New York City. I just need to find my date!

The dress itself snows. I found it a clever addition that no designer off line could really ever do. Sure they could have a confetti cup stored somewhere in the bell of the gown, but then what would the model have to do? And wherever you put the mechanics, it would likely stretch material unusually.

When I visited Rockefeller Plaza, it was December 27, and it was snowing. It was so cold, I felt like it was possible we'd get frost bite just standing there watching the skaters. Certainly this dress would be precious to wear there, but comfortable in the snow? Absolutely not!

In that regard, it makes my online world so much livelier. That week in New York between Christmas and New Year, it never got above 22 degrees. We shivered our timbers till they could not shiver anymore. And cute little dresses were pushed aside in favor of wiser winter wear.

As you can see, there's actually a third piece of the outfit, a mesh bit that's attached with chain and draped to the right hip. It's the first time I've seen a wallet like this in mesh, so that was a great addition. Also, she's gotten so clever with her mesh that she's begun to add jewelry. If you want to try her Gacha machine in the store, you could get the cuff seen in my set of photos.

I've Been Workin` On the Railroad -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, Luziefee, Kyxe Skins & Shapes, and MADesigns

This morning when I constructed this outfit, I started with the hair from MADesigns, Jo... and built my character around that. I felt like it was the old Engineer, like a train Engineer, hat and suited to me heading to a railway station.

When I found this little train parked at one of Second Life's train stations it made me think of Tweetsie Railroad. For those who do not know of this particular attraction, in the North Carolina mountains a train station became a family vacation destination, something to do while you're in the mountains.

Over the years, a whole theme park built up around it. Primarily designed for young children between 0 and 11 years old, there are many little mini things at the park. I got into this cute little train and didn't quite fit, just like an adult would feel at Tweetsie!

Later this morning, I found another train station on a sim of virtual New York, or I should say 10 SIMS! I was in awe of the place and loved this train that's much closer to natural scale. Unfortunately, it only stopped for about 20 seconds at each stop. I flew around the sim about 3 times to land, get the camera ready and shoot before the train took off again!

I continue to love how big and diverse Second Life has grown. Each time I go out into a place I've never been I get to see the work of incredible content creators. I get to wear some of the best clothes on my journeys as well, like the Boquet dress from A.F.I Designs and Sabine pumps from Luziefee. Live! Laugh! Love!

How Bad Do You Think It Could Be? -- Featuring A.F.I Designs, .::Shellac, and [Mirror's Enigma]

One of my new shows I've been watching is Blacklist. It's not as great as The Following but it's certainly better than Siberia. It doesn't really matter if you know the show or not because you'll be able to follow my train of thought anyway. The show builds on the idea that one man claims he has a list of people so bad and so top secret that the government doesn't really know they exist. He'll exchange favors with the government officials in trade for his information about the list.

I have a military background myself, USN 1989 and 1990. My sweetheart has served AF for 26 years. We know a lot of things go on in the government that the government doesn't tell the military. If the military doesn't know, then I'm certain the general population of the country doesn't know either. As I watched the most recent episode of The Blacklist tonight and pondered the story line, and all the supposed super-bad bad guys, I thought about a whole array of covert information.

I have no doubt that not knowing is in the best interest of most of us, generally speaking, if for no other reason than prevention of mass panic. It's already a handful for a community when a registered sex offender moves into the community. If somehow we had a Blacklist from the government like they discuss on the show, how would any of us develop community, develop trust, love thy neighbor and all of that? Sometimes knowledge is power, but sometimes maybe it's not a good thing at all.

I hear just enough about subjects like balancing the budget and other things to know without doubt that there are many things I do not know and many things I would not want to know for any reason in a million years. The Blacklist builds on a concept that sells, not as well as sex sells, but it does sell. Fear. Fear sold duct tape in the 1990's when it was hinted that should the US airspace be compromised with some sort of biological weapon, duct tape could prevent exposure.

I think it could be easy to get lost in the mess of what could be true. I think a good television program diverts attention and entertains. If it creates a certain anxiety that bleeds into a sense of conspiracy or a loss of trust, it's probably not healthy and I shouldn't watch it at all. I enjoy it for now. I like pondering things for a little while. How bad could it really be?

It could be really bad. It could also be really good. If I were a conspiracy theorist, I would be the poster child for giving a fair shake to POSITIVE and NEGATIVE theories. It would make for bad fear provocation, bad television, but a healthy me. I'm willing to accept there are some huge problems buried under miles of military protection, but if I accept that, I also postulate that there are some huge solutions buried down in that wild melee of red tape and secrets too!

You've Got a Friend -- Featuring A.F.I Designs (from Boho Fair), N-Core and Kyxe Skins & Shapes

Recently, I let the owner of A.F.I Designs know that a good friend was frustrated with all sorts of things associated to the business side of Second Life. Later that day, she asked me which store, and then still later that day, she had gone over to that store and gotten something or maybe several somethings.

Another day came and went and she sent me a quick IM about how she'd gotten a couple of friends together and gone back to the store. I was really affected by this. She said that she knew how difficult some days felt and how steep the tier felt on land sometimes as a designer.

When I told her that someone was in need, I was talking about encouragement. But when she heard what I shared, she took it to the next level and instead of just sending a note, or an IM, or a hug, she acted. She visited and not only that, she brought friends too.

Each person on my friend list is there for a different reason. I believe with all my heart that when any of us approach this Second Life like we might our first life, it transcends a game. I know that for me, when DJAFI went the extra mile to help, it meant a lot to me and trickled down in that special way things do, til her actions touched many.

Home Sweet Home - Featuring A.F.I Designs, Luziefee, Hairoin and Tresor

There's a saying - Your Home Is Where Your Heart Is - and I think it's an interesting bit of truth, especially since many of us have created virtual world homes that mean as much if not more to those who've done so, and in essence their whole life exists in text and pixels and connecting people.

I really never was keen on the idea of a personal home. I have owned two very small homes along my SL journey, both of which fit on a 512x512 parcel. This was the size the Lindens offered rent free for members who joined when I joined.

Even way back when SL was much smaller as far as land mass would take you, and the few groups that gathered like-minded people, I enjoyed those few locations more than I ever did the 512x512 piece. I needed to feel people's energy, highs and lows, and be a part of something bigger than myself.

I've shared more of my heart and soul in my Second Life than with many who would know me from my life offline. Due to circumstances I do not control, it's very rare for me to travel to visit family, to go 'home' for the holidays or attend special events like weddings and graduations.

Maybe that's why I really need this world we share. I've met others, many many others, who also deal with health issues and have their world and their home at their fingertips. I'm not special in that regard, just one of many who learned how to distract myself in a computer so I did not dwell on the less fortunate details.

5. In-Pose!

There was a time when people online would see another person stressing out about some activity in their online world and in text, the one person would tell the other to 'GET A LIFE'. It was meant as an insult, to their intelligence, to their ability to actively accomplish something off line, and to imply all sorts of rudeness.

Times have changed in that regard. Many people make this world their life for many reasons. Who am I to judge when a person can or cannot function in society that's beyond the virtual world where I know them? If I judge harshly, I should be prepared to be judged harshly. I prefer to accept what I see and hear until such a time may come where I learn it wasn't real or truthful.

5. In-Pose!

I've heard the phrase a number of times in my many explorations. Some things I've done were for the pure fun of it, role-play and all sorts of imaginative things. They resembled things I'd done as a younger woman, like Dungeons and Dragons, only pixelated and more intense.
