Something Beautiful This Way Runs -- Featuring Loovus Dzevavor, Wicca's Wardrobe, PosESioN, and Lyrical Bizarre from SAVIAD

What a treat it is to work with the myriad of designers who've added items to the coming SAVIAD Spring Fair! I'm loving every minute of it.

When Ms. Wicca sent me her contribution, she made me smile in amusement. "Warning, these are a bit Wicca-y"... Well I love Wicca and her shoes for this event, and each item she creates has that Wicca edge.

Loovus Dzevavor has this dress Bloomatic at SAVIAD. Lyrical B!zarre Templates has a number of things including the jewelry shown here. I repurposed the headpiece in the set.

And thank heavens for pose creators. We models and bloggers would be lost without them and PosESion has several sets of poses created just for SAVIAD. I'll share them a little at a time.

My great thanks to the designers who contributed items to this styling:

My 1000th Post!! Featuring Items From Fashion Pride By !Lyrical B!zarre, Kyxe and House of Hawkers

The designers who've committed to the Fashion Pride event have created an array of beautiful pieces, fun pieces, unique pieces, and I'm grateful to be allowed to share them with you!

Lyrical Bizarre made this dress, shown in both pink and black, and has committed to donate all the funds raised by selling this gown to the ACT fund. She's a very talented artist, and each item that comes from her world makes me ooh and ahh!

Bright colors make me feel an infusion of energy, and whether really wearing such clothing off line, or having the joy of wearing them in world, all that positive energy brings smiles. I've always thought there was something majestic about butterflies, and the accents that are part of the gown enhance the overall aesthetic of the gown, and reminds me of butterflies.

It's difficult to see the shoes from Hawker's House poking out under the edge of the gown, but I'll share them in another Fashion Pride blog soon. I'll also share the beautiful skin from Kyxe Skins & Shapes several times, as there are a few options included in this version of Pearl.

Thank you designers for the great items you created that contribute to my styling:
Featuring !Lyrical B!zarre Fly Black AND Fly Pink Partial Mesh Gown from Fashion Pride

Angels at Dreams Way Fundraiser -- Featuring !Lyrical B!zarre, MADesigns, and {{BSD Design Studio}}

I've worked with several designers now who've created some gorgeous masterpieces to share in this most recent fundraiser. You'll find a link at the bottom of the blog. I really appreciate the way Second Life fashionistas get involved in charity and events that raise awareness and finances for all sorts of reasons. Though Second Life consists of a real economy that ebbs and flows much like the economics of countries around the world, it's not the same.

This stunning gown is one of several donated items that !Lyrical B!zarre contributed. I have never worked much with full perm designers, but getting to know her and what she creates and how she sells what she creates exposed me to that type of work and I really appreciate the effort she puts into her work and how much it likely helps those who are eager to try their hand at creation but aren't sure how or where to start.

With a few full perm items, mesh or otherwise, you can get a grasp on how clothing designers construct the various pieces, and practice with the numbers, adjusting them, changing the textures, and so many other details till you get a feel for it and find your own aesthetic to make your own. If you're talented with the artsy side but feel like you'll never get prims or prim placement, getting items from someone like !Lyrical B!zarre might be the perfect choice.

I thought about modifying the pieces in the set she calls "Brilliance" so that there were color differences in the different frames. But the unique prim piece she made for the shoulders reminded me of an angel's wings. Angels look best in white and since I AM such an angel -tongue in cheek- I had to leave it white. You'll find the long flowing formal gown attachment as well as what I'd call a 'babydoll' like short piece. With or without the pants included, both of these went well with the angelic idea.

I'm grateful for all who've participated in and helped raise money and awareness for this project. It's primary goal is to help fund activities designed for those who have Asperger Syndrome and those who have Autism. If your family or friends have been exposed to either, you may be more aware of how great this is, and even if you're not sure what it is or how it effects others, your support will make a difference to many.

Miss Scarlet? -- Featuring Lyrical Bizarre, [Mirror's Enigma] **Pre-Release, (Koi<, and Bliss - A Big Thank You to In-Pose and Manifeste!

When I found this ranch filled with all the pretty colored horses, I smiled. If you do not disable the Adult option on search, Second Life will take you to the most unique places imaginable. Trust me. But after I deselected that option, I found one piece of property that was completely empty, an unknown phenomena to me and then I found this place.

Behind the Caryn in plaid and boots is a southern belle typist who writes from a little nowhere town in South Carolina. As a girl, I cut my teeth on Scarlet O'Hara, reading it with wide eyed imagination, drinking in the raw yet carefully written sexuality, and imagining life in the midst of an adult fairy tale. When I landed on the property at this ranch, those thoughts returned.

With an amused grin, I realized that I had that Scarlet look. Who would go to a real working horse ranch in couture clothing, or even NICE clothing; it wouldn't have to be couture to look distinctly out of place. So altho plaid jackets and boots remind me of ranch attire, this look doesn't remind me of ranch attire. It reminds me of Scarlet O'Hara impudently accepting the reins and running Tara.

When I found this pose, I was thinking about the attitude of a Scarlet O'Hara. I've got too many things to do today. I will worry about things tomorrow. I have a little of that Scarlet inside me. I've learned to fill my days with things to do so that I distract my mind from overly worrying on things that are beyond my control. Maybe there was a bit that was healthy in that spoiled little girl, and maybe she did eventually grow up. Live! Love! Laugh!

5. In-Pose!

Every once in a while, I have to pause and thank two pose designers. I passionately wanted to blog and I knew that blogging took a certain number of poses. I also knew that poses could range between 10L and 100L per pose. I know how much time it takes to produce them. And I also know I cannot make my own. Just about the time I really knew that I was passionately invested in blogging, both In-Pose and Manifeste Poses set out a Super Mega Huge Pack of poses from their past. I think In-Pose put over 800 poses from Avante Pose - the previous name of the pose store - for around 800L. It was less than 1L a pose. Then Manifeste Poses offered a similar deal. I believe they had a pack with 300 or so poses, also sold around 1L a pose. To this day, I would be lost without those poses. I love the designers who include poses in their packs and share with me new items for blogging. Tremendous creativity abounds around the grid related to posing and pose creators. But for these two businesses, you made my world and what I love immensely more fun. Thank you. My <3 to yours.

A second after note, because I'm feeling effusive I suppose... the jeans shown here are called Denim Eyes. One of my very first SL friends was a friend because she traveled here in 2005 with the rest of a 'family' unit that I arrived on grid with and someone who tapped into the potential of making, building and creating her world. She shared freely what she created. It's one of the oldest garments I still own. They certainly don't have the same modern couture look. Light and shadow and so many changes have affected the artistry of clothing creation since her time. I love coeur Gorky. She was a friend, a sister, someone I just knew. She had a fierce loyalty and a blunt point of view. I pulled these out today in a moment of sentimentality, and pulled them on and had to comment about her and the jeans and the past. Life is good.

The Coolest Movie Ever -- Featuring Kungler's, Luziefee, [[Masoom]] and [Mirror's Enigma]

I imagine we all have our own unique taste in things. Some like chocolate. I don't care for it so much. I also don't care for cake. Traditionally, you get birthday cakes but I always got a birthday pie. I also have unique taste when it comes to movies. I invest passionately in science fiction above all other things. And I rarely choose what some people would call 'chick flicks.'

I've never worried about marching to my own beat. Maybe my childhood prepped me for that, or maybe everyone's childhood does. I really never enjoyed group think, and if a group thought anything, I'd often stubbornly take another path instead of joining them. I know there are fallacies in taking it that far but I still recognize that in my personality. Take me or leave me. I hope you take me!

I love Riddick. Period. It's the best movie ever written. I love the dry blunt humor. I love the character. I love how they warn you at the beginning that we're used to the concept of fighting evil with good but in some cases,  like this one, you end up fighting evil with another sort of evil. The dialogue and I are friends. I notoriously quote the story as it progresses.

I got to thinking about my taste in favorite movie and realized it would be intriguing to know what favorite things people do in Second Life. My favorite places in Second Life rotate around my current interests and in the past 8 years since I first joined in March 2005 as a Caryn Gorky, my interests have been quite diverse. I probably don't know 1/10th of what people do in Second Life, but I'd like to know.

I love the Chronicles of Riddick. Yes, I've heard there is a sequel. No. I haven't seen it yet. I imagine there are in essence sequels to things I tried years ago in SL, and things I should revisit. I like to evaluate self and plan for the next year as a year comes close to its end. Many of the goals I set for 2013 have been wonderful, almost as wonderful as Riddick at times! I know 2014 will be great too and I'll find my path, just as I always do. I hope the path includes walking a little time with you.

Looking For A Piece Of the Past -- Featuring Zanze, [Mirror's Enigma], N-Core, .::Shellac::., Lyr!cal B!zarre

This evening, I spent over an hour searching for my wedding tape. VHS. Yes. Old School. I tried to remember the name of a song, and then tried to remember who sang it, and I don't know either answer. I don't tend to collect memorabilia. I just don't. But I do wish I knew where the tape was.

It all began simply enough, one of those silly conversations that popped up last night and continued on to this evening. "What song is OUR song?" my sweetheart asked me. See, I make up little songs to sing to the Yorkies I call my bad children. I used to make up little songs for my sons when they were young.

It's certainly not by lack of connection or special things we've done in our lives. I know that we've got a lifetime of memories already, and celebrate our 24th anniversary in May. I just never had to entertain or calm my sweetheart. I created those little songs for the children and the other children out of need.

My memory may be more like memory foam, with loads of air holes where thoughts used to be, and the location of that video tape may remain hidden for a few more months or years. I don't have a little song that represents my connection to the most special man in my life.

I'm blessed. He is a piece of my past, but he's also a piece of my present and I know that as long as we both shall live, he will be a piece of my future. If the time arose where I felt a need to entertain him, or calm him with a song, I'm sure I'd come up with something.

The Freedom To Be -- TBCF *Stars Fashion* and POUDRE Also Featuring Lyrical Bizarre

Certifications say on a piece of paper, or on a computer screen a lot of times these days, that you've completed a task well enough to be certified in that field of study. We get to drive once we have certification that we passed the driver's exam. A lot of our life depends on certifications.

Like driving a car or earning an EE or ME (Electricians) Degree, a model certification in Second Life says "According to this person or this agency, you've passed the minimum requirements to become a model. All schools are not equal. All educators do not agree with each other. Just as there are different rules on the US driving exam than there are on the UK driving exam, model exams also differ.

5. Manifeste Poses

At first, it's a dream someone has. Maybe a six year old girl sees Danika Patrick get out of an Indy Car and from that moment forward, she's sure she's going to race one day. After the dream comes the work. Driving a car and racing a car have to be very different. For a model, walking and walking as a model are very different. Time, energy, passion and focus are needed, even after basic certification.

Somewhere in time, and it varies for each person, the essence of the dream becomes reality. It still takes practice and focus. It takes time. A focused deliberate choice must be made daily to live up to the certification and then some. I think it would be awful to go in for surgery on a day when the doctor woke up and said, "Meh, I don't feel much like being a doctor today. Oh well."

Yet I contend that an end can be reached at some point. The ability to fix an airplane, or operate, or race a car repeats itself often enough that we're able to reach a comfort zone or plateau. I know I have a thousand steps to take in this modeling journey. I know I have much to learn. I need that focus. I need that deliberate stance to do more and do it better every time I do it.

Anxiety and fear no longer have such a fierce grasp on me. I don't fret over every small decision. I do some of what used to be very difficult more quickly. I do some of it better. I know. I see. I feel. And in that process, I discovered a comforting truth. I'm free to be me again, and I love it!

The Shirt Off Their Back Sorta People -- Featuring Lyrical Bizarre

Have you met the sort of person who would give you the shirt off their back if they knew it was helping you? A rare few people in this world seem able to really embrace selflessness. Mother Theresa comes to mind. She truly poured more out of her then she ever asked for in return.

Many of us make the effort to be polite, even kind. Some are able to put others' needs ahead of our own but then we also have those moments of selfishness. I'm human, and I believe that no matter how hard I work towards the idea of unconditional love, I will fall short.

7. In-Pose!

Some of the people I've met in Second Life remind me of this sort of personality. They are rare gems in their generosity. Before you ever express need, they're there with a warm shirt to help ward off the chill or some other thing for a need you don't even know you have yet.

7. In-Pose!

I'm not saying I've met Mother Theresa on Second Life. I have met some really thoughtful and giving people though. One of those people is Lyrical Bizarre. She creates templates which she sells full perms and has items boxed as demonstrations of what you can do with her templates.

I thought it was primarily jewelry, but then I found an assortment of gowns she'd put together as well. This one shown here offers one example. And there are a number of skirt choices, offering more opportunities to learn about prim clothing and how to create it with a 'finished' item to show you how.

I met her some time ago, through a fair or event somewhere along my journey but I re-met her recently. I found her generosity and her warmth both infectious. Since then, our paths have crossed a few times, and I'm continually inspired by her kindness. We don't exactly have shirts, but we do use a lot of well crafted pixels, and when she shared hers at one of those junctures in my Second Life journey, it meant a great deal.

Holodecks Are Coming -- Featuring Luziefee, Slink, {{BSD Design Studio}}, blackLiquid and Lyrical Bizarre

Quite a long while ago, the television series Star Trek presented the idea of a Holodeck. This room on the star ship Enterprise had the facility of recreating any scene it had been programmed to share, and the people on board the Enterprise could use the Holodeck for all sorts of reasons.

Right now, we're plugged into a virtual medium that transports us to various 'places'; we get to our email account, to news headlines, to favorite photos, to Skype and of course Second Life and other online games.

So far, virtual reality occurs in a machine that thought it looks three dimensional, is actually only a flat panel screen, and we watch it, and live through it. We have many of the same options that those personnel on Star Trek had, but our Holodeck hasn't quite reached that level of immersion... YET.

4. [Mirror's Enigma]: Stella Peach Skintone (new this week)
5. Poses in photo studio at The Creative Loft

I always enjoyed the Holodeck episodes. They didn't overuse the idea, and it was often used for nostalgic purposes by those who'd enter it. I saw one where the crew found themselves lost in an old Western saloon. The diversity of the Holodeck only occurred because of the diversity of the programmer who made the Holodeck possible.

My personal thought is that the world at our fingertips that we know and love is only the first step of many that we'll take over the next several decades that eventually lead all of us into the Holodect of Star Trek. We're close. Very close.

I thought of the Holodeck today when I rezzed the unique decorated room I received from {{BSD Design Studio}}. BabySass makes great shoes like the Model Muse in Tropical that I have on for these photos, but she's also a clever builder of many things. Items she wanted blogged were meant to transport me to a hotel in Paris. The small candy jar on the table comes from the Candy Fair and is also something she created.

I get to wear great accessories as I travel from my imagination to other people's imagination. The new release Lisa at Hairoin paired with the Estrella jewelry set from Lyrical Bizarre and the brand new mesh hands I have from Slink adorned with blackLiquid's new Floral Fall Nails (must have Slink hands to use these nails). I can choose something fancy and find a ballroom, or I can slip into something casual like Anju Morning Dew, the outfit I have on from Luziefee and explore more casual scenes.

Androgynous Fun -- Featuring Tresor and Dot-Be Fashion

I used to style some of the men's clothing included in sample packs or hunt packs and things like this. Over time and because of time constraints, I got away from doing so. Last year, the 2012/2013 season, androgyny was part of the fashion movement.

7. {{BSD Design Studio}}: Summer Love Special Red Edition
8. Miamai Poses

But like most things in fashion, it comes and goes as the 'it' look. As with most fashion, a few people hold on to each detail that comes along and nothing ever goes completely out of style as a result. I like it when I see women in something traditionally designed for men...

I like seeing the reverse as well. I imagine all types of men have used women's attire at some time or another for all sorts of reasons, whether it was a practical joke, a fetish, or simply part of their personality. For me, someone who wears garments that are traditionally female...

Can look super hawt when they pair the feminine look with their own masculinity. An example might be the way Mel Gibson looked in the movie Braveheart some many years ago. (If you're too young to know this movie, go and rent it. It's THAT good, and timeless.)

Others may really appreciate a dandy way of dressing for men. The song Yankee Doodle Dandy actually pays homage to this style of dress, because at the time, it was not uncommon at all for men to have as much invested in their attire as the women, and very popular they were too.

I think it's wonderful that Second Life gives all of us the freedom to explore many facets of ourselves, our interests, our personal sense of style, but more so, our personal sense of who we are and in a place that likely pressures less than the world off line would press if making the same choices there.

I'm thankful for the brilliant options, the freedom of expression, the many ways sexuality can be shared, expressed and enjoyed via Second Life. I'm glad there are designers from all over the world sharing their curiosities, skills, diversity and open minded ways.

Whether I'm in a tuxedo by Tresor, which I found in a gift box at the Charleston Ball Room, or wearing the brilliant sleeveless sweater dress Linde from Dot-Be Fashion, I find my niche easily in this Second Life. I can mix and match lifestyle choices as easily as I can mix and match clothing. That's priceless.

Elegance Surrounds Me -- Featuring }RC{, Finesmith and the Finesmith Stay Calm Fall Bazaar

How can I not rejoice when I am given the privilege of working with a new sponsor? What some may not know about me and may or may not make a difference, I do not really 'shop' in Second Life. I signed up for it in 2005, March and I promised my husband at the time that it was a one time fee thing.

I'd read the hype and seen the newscast where Philip Linden said anyone could make money in Second Life. All they had to do was work. I was certain I could pay my way so to speak by working just as he suggested. And along the way, all sorts of positions have compensated me for work done.

My very first friends in Second Life used to tease me about being a Yard Sale fanatic. In the old days, before a lot of the ownership laws came into effect and so many other things changed in Second Life, many many items were sold NO copy but YES transfer.

People could also advertise their 'yard sale' in the Events list at the time, so these became proliferate for a while and I went to them regularly. I managed a club at the time and I liked a few new items here and there to wear to work. I volunteered at the time, so every discount I could find, I'd find it.

It's really unique to me, to see how the Lindens and their monetary system evolved. It was shaped by its citizens and laws that had to be written to protect those citizens, not much different than economics in any country. As the laws came into play, the process to shop and find good deals changed too.

I think it was December 2007 when I went to some of the malls near the club where I worked. I saw that the holiday festivities online encouraged designers to put out at least one new item and gift that item to anyone coming or going. It was before groups and group gifts. I began 'freebie' shopping.

Now, there are still free items, but you often belong to this group or that, and only in the group can you access the great price. There are special venues like Designer Fusion and events like Finesmith's Stay Calm Fall Bazaar now that encourage designers to reduce one item or more, and share in tandem with other quality events.

As a matter of fact, the two dresses shown, The Boheme Glow Gown -1 and The Centauri Gold -2, on this blog plus the gorgeous Finesmith set, Winter Drops Natural, all come from the Finesmith Stay Calm Fall Bazaar.

I count every penny on every dollar on every Linden. I cherish the trust designers put in me who send me products to blog. I work to show my very best skills so their items have the greatest chance of being well marketed and hopefully bought.

I built my blog originally at the behest of a friend's advice at the time. I created it so that I could practice styling. I knew that as I developed as a model and blogger, I'd have the opportunity to work with more and more designers and that's come to pass.

I never looked down on the 'small business' or the 'new business' or the road less traveled. I styled to the best of my ability, no matter how artistic the designer was, how well they designed, or how well they were known in fashion circles.

I could not afford to go shop every day or every week at those super popular, super couture stores and blog their items I bought. To this day, I rely purely on the generosity of the designer who sends me items to review.

My personality really never changed. I still count carefully any Linden I spend. The irony to me at this point is that I receive some stunning pieces, lovely works of art, and because of the job I've chosen wholeheartedly - to blog daily-ish - I almost never get to wear an item twice.

That's okay to me though, because my heart's desire is that 1000 people see my new items daily and then they go to those designers, buy their clever work, and wear their purchases all over the grid.

I pause now and then to say thank you, to those who helped me get started, and to those who work with me currently. I've added RC Couture as a new sponsor, and it leaves me feeling overwhelmed with gratitude. I couldn't be happier with what I do in Second Life and how I spend my time.

Getting Back Into the Swing of Things -- Featuring Tresor, [[Masoom]], Zanze, Lyrical Bizarre, {{BSD Design Studio}} and DIRVAL

I came back from the beach, having spent two very special weeks on the shore, to arrive back to the big old word we all know well -- LIFE.

While I was away, it seemed the US Government decided to shut down on 1 October. We knew this was the military new year having been military all the years we've been together but we did not predict they'd actually shut down. It's often a threat, rarely actually happens.

He went in to work, signed the pink slip, made it official, and came home after only being at work one day. When he was on vacation, his mind was set to 'relax' and he is the type of person who has to make himself relax But having to come home again after thinking 'work' was a challenge for him.

In the meantime, I learned how quickly the body breaks down with every virus coming and going while taking this Lupron. It's something of great value to me, to go through with this, but I wasn't immediately expecting a flu virus or anything else for that matter.

I came home passionately ready to get back to work. As you can see by the photos I've shot, I've been back to the shore. I rarely leave it behind for long, and I wanted to 'catch up' on September, and events before they'd come and gone, in the midst of this new growly virus.

There's some irony to the whole virus thing really. We're pretty sure it's a result of numerous medications over the years, a lot of them antibiotics, that I've almost never gotten the common childhood diseases. I bypass them in favor of the big stuff, I guess. Whee!

I've sat down to work on photos and blogging a few times in the past week, with that voice in my head pushing me to catch up, and get things back under what I would call control. Each time I thought I was ready full steam ahead, I wasn't so sure after I sat up and began the process.

So you've seen me in Second Life for little bits and pieces. And the glorious thing to me is the relationships that continue to buffet my world from Second Life and Facebook. No matter what's going wrong or right, there are really dear people waiting to hear about it, share in it, and that's precious.

I've mixed a whole array of photos I've taken from various designers, and designers who've been paired together with other designers to make the 'Caryn' look. Not sure exactly what that look is some days but I seem to see myself in the photos when I look and she looks back!

Lyrical Bizarre,*RnB*, [DOLLHOUSE] and Style by Kira at 12 Days Event PLUS New Emotions Resolution

A great diversity of items may be found in the Hunt/Fair at Flawless. This time, I put together a few of the props, new skin and shape, and a new gown.

The little Christmas trees by *RnB* Designs and Furniture were more like wall hangings than trees. This saves on space, especially if you live in a low prim property.

Style by Kira produces skins and shapes and brought some for you to see and try as part of her contribution. It's always fun to play with new shapes and skins, especially when it's time for a make-over.

[DOLLHOUSE] offered several cute little knicknacks; one of them was a collection of colored rings that reminded me of round hard candy that my grandmother had out for us when see her once a summer. The one that suited this dress was blue peppermint.

Normally Lyrical Bizarre sells full perm mesh items that other designers buy and texture to resell. Since this is a sale as well as a hunt, she decided to change the perms on her items. If you really LIKE her mesh and sculpts in these ideas, you may return to her shop and get one or two of her full perm items to see what you can make from them. Meanwhile, like the Northern Blue Gown which is breathtakingly beautiful, there were an array of other clothing sets.

Emotions hair released mid-week came as a surprise to all of us. The hair in this photo is a very tightly wound updo and the name of it is 'Resolution'. Have you begun to write yours yet? I always think I have resolved something but I need a litle more work. *s*

Find these great deals at Flawless Sim 12 Days Event.
