Angels at Dreams Way Fundraiser -- Featuring !Lyrical B!zarre, MADesigns, and {{BSD Design Studio}}

I've worked with several designers now who've created some gorgeous masterpieces to share in this most recent fundraiser. You'll find a link at the bottom of the blog. I really appreciate the way Second Life fashionistas get involved in charity and events that raise awareness and finances for all sorts of reasons. Though Second Life consists of a real economy that ebbs and flows much like the economics of countries around the world, it's not the same.

This stunning gown is one of several donated items that !Lyrical B!zarre contributed. I have never worked much with full perm designers, but getting to know her and what she creates and how she sells what she creates exposed me to that type of work and I really appreciate the effort she puts into her work and how much it likely helps those who are eager to try their hand at creation but aren't sure how or where to start.

With a few full perm items, mesh or otherwise, you can get a grasp on how clothing designers construct the various pieces, and practice with the numbers, adjusting them, changing the textures, and so many other details till you get a feel for it and find your own aesthetic to make your own. If you're talented with the artsy side but feel like you'll never get prims or prim placement, getting items from someone like !Lyrical B!zarre might be the perfect choice.

I thought about modifying the pieces in the set she calls "Brilliance" so that there were color differences in the different frames. But the unique prim piece she made for the shoulders reminded me of an angel's wings. Angels look best in white and since I AM such an angel -tongue in cheek- I had to leave it white. You'll find the long flowing formal gown attachment as well as what I'd call a 'babydoll' like short piece. With or without the pants included, both of these went well with the angelic idea.

I'm grateful for all who've participated in and helped raise money and awareness for this project. It's primary goal is to help fund activities designed for those who have Asperger Syndrome and those who have Autism. If your family or friends have been exposed to either, you may be more aware of how great this is, and even if you're not sure what it is or how it effects others, your support will make a difference to many.

Collaboration and Cuffs -- Featuring Zanze, Finesmith, 55L, Bliss

This week I've chatted with a couple of people who asked for a quick moment of help and the experiences where collaboration ends up occurring always make me smile. This week, one especially made me chuckle and I warned Kay Weston that I'd talk about it on my blog sometime soon. Kay is one of the three women, Kay Weston, Nikki Wildmist and Allysondwyer, who work on the sim Image Essentials.

I have done a little project here and there with Kay and this time, she did a page in the group for anyone who could help. I piped up and she sent a teleport. When I landed, she was saying "As you land, I'm handing you each a pair of handcuffs. Go ahead and put them on..." I chuckled! These are not necessarily words you're used to hearing when you land for a modeling shoot, but you never know, do you?!

This music box set is an example of what you can find on the Image Essentials sim. There are studios for photos, set studios for a variety of uses, as well as sets all over the sim for unique photos. After I took the photos and took them to edit them, I was talking to another friend in Facebook and showed him one of the photos. He's got an artistic eye and while I worked on the basic editing, cropping the pictures and so forth, he was creating the smaller photo in the photo here. I thought it was lovely and said that I would include Trav Solar's work after I saw it.

A lot of work a blogger does happens in their little corner of the grid, or even off SL in editing and on blogspot writing, and in Flickr uploading. I celebrate the beauty of Zanze's gown Helena and loved this week's 55L special at Finesmith as I set up this series of photos. I fell in love with the prop and the whole composition instead of cutting down the size.

Thanks to Kay Weston and the other ladies at Image Essentials and also thanks to Trav Solar, for making today's blog a collaborative effort and to Kay for figuring out how to introduce cuffs so slyly into a day's work!
