Love and Other Simple Words -- Featuring Romance Couture, Kyxe Skins & Shapes, [Mirror's Enigma] and MADesigns

There are a series of commercials currently running that debuted about a year and some months ago during the rush of basketball season; commercials were so successful that more were made later that year and still more appear from time to time. A fella sits with a group of four children and asks what appear to be simple questions.

Children, however, don't absorb questions quite the way adults do, and their responses vary from commercial to commercial, leaving the audience and me chuckling. When I saw the first of this series, I had no idea what product it sponsored. I adored the guy and how he interacted with the children. That made an impression on me. And the final comment, "It's not complicated." hits home and wraps every version of the commercial.

I don't know what's not complicated, or what the point of his questions are. I know that life usually is complicated and even the things I'd expect to be the simplest of all of life's complexities are still complicated. No matter the topic, when I'm on the outside looking in, I can often offer insight, support, positive interpretations and see the simplicity of the moment. Even when friends aren't overtly asking for support or advice, I feel like I could end most conversations like the commercial. "It's not complicated."

However, it's an entirely different story when the situation or topic or conversation relates to me and my life. From the inside looking out, everything feels complicated. Good people, close friends and family, often listen then point out this fact or that, and they too come to a conclusion much of the time, "It's not complicated." I appreciate their insight, even when it sounds like those young people answering the questions, quirky, random, and like a foreign language.

One topic generates complexity no matter where I turn, who I address, who's life it is, and what's occurring or already occurred. Love. Quotes about love abound. People have been explaining it for thousands of years, and yet it remains one of the least understood words. Love acts. Love is. Love exists in so many forms, defined by so many people in so many different ways. Regardless of gender or age, creed and faith, culture or family, it's complicated.

5. Manifeste Poses

Despite it being a simple four letter word that's spelled differently in hundreds of languages, in theory it makes so much more sense than it does in practice. On one level, love feels so good. Some use the word love to describe the act of it, and particularly the performing of love in intimate settings. Others use the word love to describe the way they feel. Whether action or emotion, shared with family and friends or strangers, love is complicated.

I think it's easier for me to define what love isn't. Love isn't selfish. Love doesn't hurt others. In my second life, there are times I see love in action. The event for which these gowns were designed, Dreams Way - raising money for support and research related to Autism and Aspberger's Syndrome, allows a whole array of random people to actively do something and act lovingly to people they may never meet.

But also in my second life, I seek connection on a far more personal level. If love can be complicated in person, I think it's exponentially more complicated in a virtual environment where text and context get lost in translation even when two people are speaking the same language. I wish love was really a simple word to define, to live, to understand, and to embrace. Others have been trying to figure it out for centuries and now it's our turn, our now. Love is... worth it. Live! Laugh! and yes, Love!
