I Love This! -- Featuring Image Essentials from The Thrift Shop, Romance Couture from Rock Your Rack, .:JUMO:. from .PENUMBRA. Fashion Week and New Face Paint

I love what I do. In case I haven't said so lately, every single person I connect with involved in this passion for fun and fashion and life makes a difference in my world. I would not do this thing I do if I did not love it. I've had a selection of other odd jobs along the way, but this is the one I've stuck with for 3 years, the one I've worked the hardest to learn, to practice and to grow. I couldn't say it often enough how much each step along the way, each part of the journey, and each person I've met has influenced me. I presented a whole array of designers from Rock Your Rack and there are still pieces I wish I could share. There's never enough time, and always just one more thing. There are three days officially left in this charity event and if you haven't been, I hope you do, and help make a difference in lives far beyond the virtual world. The money raised by Models Giving Back and Jamee Binder go directly to the Breast Cancer Research Center and will aid in the ongoing determination to find a cure, as well as developing treatments to make dealing with it better. Romance Couture, also known as }RC{ offers a variety of gowns and accessories including the Judy gown in teal and the hat and glove set called Deauville. Please get involved. To donate directly, follow this link: https://www.stayclassy.org/fundraise?fcid=283425
Image Essentials Props and Poses have new items out at the Thrift Shop. I've pulled a couple of poses from the set called Sashay to use for this styling. I'm sure I'll go back and use them again and again. Such a southern word, sashay; it's something that makes me think of Scarlett O'hara. It's just awful how hot it is round heyah, my my my my my. I'm becoming used to the idea that .:JUMO:. puts together a massive amount of work for any new event and this remains true for this year's .PENUMBRA Fashion Week for Autumn/Winter Fashion. The jewelry set worn in my photos, Fascination Set in teal, looked as if it were designed to accompany the gown.
I appreciate the diversity of skin tones that October's 4 Seasons offers. There are 12 and each one creates a different inner voice when I use it. Each one also has to use different types of makeup, and items to accessorize in just the right way or the darker skins might overpower the look, while the lighter skins might wash out, so I take it as a challenge and enjoy all of them. With the new Laila face and skin tone Mocha, I looked at several different makeup combinations til I saw this Doe from Face Paint and had that aha moment.

Making Strides -- Featuring Romance Couture (}RC{), Silken Moon and Kyxe Skins & Shapes

It's been a while since I showed a gown from }RC{ aka Romance Couture. I don't know exactly how long the store has been open now, but I think it's approximately 12-18 months and as branding goes, it's made a huge splash in the fashion community. I love to see success stories, entrepreneurs who come in with a dream of making something happen and then make it work. It's not easy running an SL business.
Because of my own personal experiences, I know the work that goes into the final product. Besides creating a beautiful gown, a designer has to market, and stock and price and so many other behind the scene details that really take time.
I continue to meet new designers every few weeks or so, and like looking into their world of imagination and looking forward to see the fruition of their dream. I think Romance Couture has made huge strides towards reaching those dreams.
Another business in Second Life that I think has grown magnificently is Kyxe Skins & Shapes. I have the latest skin they're working on for an upcoming charity drive for Lupus. Lyric has some 'perfect for summer' makeup included. You're going to love it. I always feel classy and elegant in Chop Zuey and Truth. And Silken Moon adds a dallop of beauty, this time in the accessory appliers for SLink hands. If a designer creates something lovely, unique, beautiful or simply a visual image of their dream, they have my support and admiration. I'm just lucky to work with each of them.

My sincere thanks to the designers who made this blog possible:

Such Diversity! -- SAVIAD Designers Romance Couture, Nailed It, and PosESioN & New Items: Chop Zuey, EMO-tions, KMADD, no. 7

There are some amazing designers invested in this SAVIAD Spring Fair. My dress from Romance Couture, my nail art from Nailed It and the poses come from PosESioN, all contributors to the fair.

Also, I have something to share from the Skin Fair by no. 7. I bought some amazing jewelry from Chop Zuey that fit my mood perfectly and hopefully inspire you to check out new releases there.

Besides the many styles of mesh eyes I've been sharing with each blog, I also have on little flats from KMADD/Moda. And styling never feels complete til I find the right hair, this time from EMO-tions, to add to the look.

Thanks so much for your support and comments.

It's a Bevy of Gowns -- Romance Couture, #7, and Kyxe Skins & Shapes

I wanted to style a couple of gowns before the end of the year. I may do another selection before the first, but in case I don't, I put three together in similar fashion so I could show the diversity of creations available at Romance Couture.

A fluttery swatch of clothing moves with every whispered step in this gown Chocolate Caramel. The gold is understated, yet perfect in balance from shoulder to floor. It also has a pair of heels that were designed (not seen) if you're the type who likes to style with a little help from designers.

Purple and silver have a great holiday flare, but if you like to purchase for now and later, this certainly would be a great option. The royalty of the shade blended with the light reflecting surfaces glimmer without any gems to do so. I loved the cut of this gown, Roma, a deep v of seduction.

I fell in love with this gown, Pashka. It's a warm reminder of my studies in college. I went back to school when my sons were both in high school. I studied Russian history as a major. I love the cossack hat. It offered a great accessory, something different, and beautiful in my biased opinion.

Romance Couture was represented in the Miss Virtual World competition by two models, SD Damiano and Spirit Llewelyn. Both women wore the brand well and looked beautiful.

One More Gown For Holiday Fun -- Evolve, [Mirror's Enigma], no. 7 [#7], Chop Zuey, MADesigns and Romance Couture

This week things will ramp up to high gear for some of you and others have a similar setting as my home, quiet and peaceful, holidays but older children and no grandchildren to enliven the Christmas morning joy level.

I have a couple of items still in folders, and I'm afraid there's no way to show all of them, but they're so pretty. Evolve's dress special this week offered this red confection that could be worn with a combination of prims and pieces for a few different looks.

I have always loved anything versatile. With this design, I can also see how this gown could easily work with other holidays as well, and all for the sake of fun and happiness. When I'm having fun and happy, not another thing in the world matters or worries me.

This last photo came as a bit of an accident and ended up a wanted accident. I love it when life does that. It's how Coca Cola was born and other fantastic ideas. Now it's how I captured a photo of me laughing. Laughter is the best medicine. It's very difficult to laugh when feeling sad.

I pray you find the joy in your world abundant. And Live! Laugh! Love!

An Elegant Woman -- Featuring Romance Couture, }RC{ MADesigns, and .::C.C.Kre-tions::. from J&A Expo

“It's not very easy to grow up into a woman. We are always taught, almost bombarded, with ideals of what we should be at every age in our lives: "This is what you should wear at age twenty", "That is what you must act like at age twenty-five", "This is what you should be doing when you are seventeen."

But amidst all the many voices that bark all these orders and set all of these ideals for girls today, there lacks the voice of assurance. There is no comfort and assurance.

I want to be able to say, that there are four things admirable for a woman to be, at any age! Whether you are four or forty-four or nineteen! It's always wonderful to be elegant, it's always fashionable to have grace, it's always glamorous to be brave, and it's always important to own a delectable perfume! Yes, wearing a beautiful fragrance is in style at any age!”
― C. JoyBell C.

As a young person, I was inundated with this and that, things that I was supposed to do or things I should never do. I always thought maybe it came with being a Southern Belle. I don't think so now, though. I think in every culture, at every generation, there will be those who attempt to shape the next generation with words of wisdom.

Did I listen to all of them? I don't know. I have a little bit of everything in me. When I wear Romance Couture, it brings the elegance out of me. That can't be a bad thing! Live! Laugh! Love!

It's a Golden Day -- Featuring EMO-tions and Belle Amie from the J&A Expo also Featuring Featuring Romance Couture and [Underscore]

I love the old version of Willy Wonka, the one where Gene Wilder played Mr. Wonka. I liked Johnny Depp's twist on the character and admired him for stepping into such an iconic role when he did it. The earlier version felt differently, something I can't quite finger point but it did.

This scene from the movie, and the song in particular, shares the energy of the most perfect thing that could possibly happen to a little boy and his grampa. A golden ticket meant they were on their way to see Mr. Willy Wonka.

As I think of the various people I've gotten to work with this year, and the continued support of some amazing sponsors, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Most recently, I've begun to blog this Jewelry and Accessory Expo, more easily abbreviated J&A Expo, and many of the items are fantastic bits of treasure. It's a golden day!

Jewelry and accessories are things I get most concerned about in Second Life. Everyone 'plays' differently and each of us have different ways we make the currency of the Linden work for us. Since I don't import Lindens, everything I use comes from something I do somewhere in Second Life. It gives me a sense of success to have some financial stability but when I have the privilege of working with an expo like this, I just feel like Charlie, the boy with the golden ticket.

When I style for gown creators like Romance Couture, I want to have all the right pieces, modern, new and fresh to add to their work, so I might show it in the most glamorous way possible. That means new hair styles, new jewelry, shoes and every other twinkle and sparkly. By adding a few sponsors here and there, with items like this, I feel so much more able to put together an apt look for each blog. And this expo... it's icing on the cake.

I couldn't say thank you enough times to each of the people out there who've helped me build into the model/blogger I enjoy being today, but I am thankful. Every day should be a day for thanks but when a holiday nudges us, I reflect in joyful earnest. Live! Laugh! Love!

Love and Other Simple Words -- Featuring Romance Couture, Kyxe Skins & Shapes, [Mirror's Enigma] and MADesigns

There are a series of commercials currently running that debuted about a year and some months ago during the rush of basketball season; commercials were so successful that more were made later that year and still more appear from time to time. A fella sits with a group of four children and asks what appear to be simple questions.

6. WoW Designs: Gulsem Jewelry Set
7. N-Core: Caresse Silver
8. Apple Spice Poses: Boho Event

Children, however, don't absorb questions quite the way adults do, and their responses vary from commercial to commercial, leaving the audience and me chuckling. When I saw the first of this series, I had no idea what product it sponsored. I adored the guy and how he interacted with the children. That made an impression on me. And the final comment, "It's not complicated." hits home and wraps every version of the commercial.

8. Apple Spice Poses: Boho Event

I don't know what's not complicated, or what the point of his questions are. I know that life usually is complicated and even the things I'd expect to be the simplest of all of life's complexities are still complicated. No matter the topic, when I'm on the outside looking in, I can often offer insight, support, positive interpretations and see the simplicity of the moment. Even when friends aren't overtly asking for support or advice, I feel like I could end most conversations like the commercial. "It's not complicated."

However, it's an entirely different story when the situation or topic or conversation relates to me and my life. From the inside looking out, everything feels complicated. Good people, close friends and family, often listen then point out this fact or that, and they too come to a conclusion much of the time, "It's not complicated." I appreciate their insight, even when it sounds like those young people answering the questions, quirky, random, and like a foreign language.

One topic generates complexity no matter where I turn, who I address, who's life it is, and what's occurring or already occurred. Love. Quotes about love abound. People have been explaining it for thousands of years, and yet it remains one of the least understood words. Love acts. Love is. Love exists in so many forms, defined by so many people in so many different ways. Regardless of gender or age, creed and faith, culture or family, it's complicated.

Despite it being a simple four letter word that's spelled differently in hundreds of languages, in theory it makes so much more sense than it does in practice. On one level, love feels so good. Some use the word love to describe the act of it, and particularly the performing of love in intimate settings. Others use the word love to describe the way they feel. Whether action or emotion, shared with family and friends or strangers, love is complicated.

I think it's easier for me to define what love isn't. Love isn't selfish. Love doesn't hurt others. In my second life, there are times I see love in action. The event for which these gowns were designed, Dreams Way - raising money for support and research related to Autism and Aspberger's Syndrome, allows a whole array of random people to actively do something and act lovingly to people they may never meet.

But also in my second life, I seek connection on a far more personal level. If love can be complicated in person, I think it's exponentially more complicated in a virtual environment where text and context get lost in translation even when two people are speaking the same language. I wish love was really a simple word to define, to live, to understand, and to embrace. Others have been trying to figure it out for centuries and now it's our turn, our now. Love is... worth it. Live! Laugh! and yes, Love!

Moody Blues -- Featuring Romance Couture, FINESMITH, {{BSD}}, Kyxe and Bliss

Though the gown Meroacain from Romance Couture looks bluesy, there's a sweet beauty to it to me. Sometimes grey skies, soft misty rain and cooler temperatures make the world feel peaceful. When I put on the gown, I had that same sense. Most of the things I choose are brightly colored, to encourage a positive energy. I often tell friends in quiet conversation, that we have to have one side of life to appreciate the other.

To me, there's something beautiful in everything, even the grey and rainy days. I think that life's like that also, and in the most troublesome moments, things that make you feel blue and lonely end up having a silver lining if you can maintain balance and patience long enough to find it. Once I discover the silver lining, it makes it easier to appreciate the change. Everything doesn't have to be bright and colorful to be wonderful and lovely.

The gown made me feel a sense of peace. I think that's why certain colors are painted in hospital rooms and classrooms. But this gown is also elegant with a gentle appeal that could not exist in hospital rooms or classrooms! When I accessorize different looks I do for the blog, I think of ways to enhance the main feature. In this case, there are diamonds and a silver lining. I've often thought of tears as nature's way of painting diamonds on our faces.

{{BSD Design Studio}} has these diamond shoes Glam Futuristic Supermodel Diamond at the Dream's Way fundraiser. It's a virtual pixelated bit of treasure, the diamond itself, but also a bit of treasure of the heart, as the beauty of the donation and the generous nature of the creator to contribute the funds earned from the shoes refract the light of the soul and touch many. Another amazing glimmer comes from Fashion Limited this month, FINESMITH's Louise set.

Life may bring moody blues, but we get more from them than we might realize. There are always going to be glimmers of hope and beauty if we pause to find them. Live! Laugh! Love!

What Are Words For? -- Featuring Romance Couture Gowns and {{BSD Design Studio}}

Recently, the people behind the new store Romance Couture opened their store with the flourish that can only be matched by the lavishly appointed gowns they sell. I've never had a reason to wear such extravagant gowns in my world off line, but a girl can dream.

In addition to opening their store, they've also introduced a new contest, one seeking the best representative to wear their items and represent their brand. I hope that the contest draws models in from all over the grid at all levels of experience.

Sometimes new businesses in Second Life seem to have to work extra hard those first few days and weeks of existence, just to get noticed. People who might enjoy their garments choose not to buy right away because they want to see how the public in general responds to the new store.

Clever use of advertisement help any store at any stage. I know that in those early days, it's challenging to figure out what to do, how to best expose a brand, and all those choices seem a bit like a tidal wave that threatens to take down everything before you get started.

Store blogs tell an item's story from the viewpoint of the designer. Between the photographs and the words shared, customers will choose to risk or not to risk buying something. It's the best time to get involved in any business, on or off line, because when you're new, you really cannot go backwards. The only direction then is forward.

I think bloggers have become important to the overall mechanism of branding and advertising clothing. What are words for? when a blogger shares a designer on their blog? How do those words convey data, energy, and emotion? How do you feel after you've read the blog. Some bloggers are careful to keep their blog very professional and non-emotional. Others go in another direction. The designer has to find the right fit, and if they do, the words of the bloggers they choose should enhance their business.
