Monday, a good friend was trying to help keep my mind off of things, and I ended up with these poses as a result. The one frame with me standing alone uses one of my poses from Demise of Flight while the pair pose comes from KaTink.

The hunk of fella who came to help was part of the perk up Caryn campaign. I must say, he'd perk up a lot of us wouldn't he?? Loved the placard type shirt from JesyDream at the FASHIONART Faire and the newest Cecilia pants from Dot-be fashion.

HOLLYHOOD has another pair of heels at FASHIONART, the Mya Heels in Carnation, and they gave a small touch of soft appeal to the harder urban overall style.

Kyxe new Romance lips continue to make my mouth look lickably sweet and >Asset< sent a very different style for hair, one I'm sure would suit either gender. Hopefully, you're inspired to participate!

There are times where it just isn't easy to get started in a new day. It comes. The sun rises. Birds sing and all the things that announce its arrival happen and still it's difficult to make yourself move. Pull back the covers. Turn so you're no longer prone and your feet are on the ground.

Eventually, I realize that I can't stay in bed forever, no matter how the day began or how I feel about attacking the day. On the days that make everything challenging, the days where you may have a cold or went to sleep after a really unsettling argument with a family member, I find some things help just a little. Gone are the days of a mother or a maternal figure hugging me tightly and kissing a boo-boo.

Still, I do have a few tricks up my sleeve that make the world around me a little bit better. Comfort food rates at the top of my list. I like spaghettios with franks more than any other thing when I don't feel well. I like it more than chicken soup. It's not that I dislike chicken soup. It just doesn't help fix me.

I have patterns of eating that relate to the medications I take. Other people have to be careful regarding what they eat due to things like diabetes or allergies, so even when food can offer comfort, it has to be done well or it could end up making a difficult day even worse.

I'm notorious for saying, "I don't want to be a grown up and make the right decision." when it comes to food. Actually, I say something like that when it comes to other choices I have to make when I don't want to make them also, so basically I don't want to make the grown up decisions. Period.

Food isn't the only thing I've learned offers comfort when life feels out of balance. I love a good hot bath. Every now and then, I stumble onto new ways to make it through the day. It's easy to get comfortable with a particular style. When I was in my late teens and early twenties, every single article of clothing I owned was black, white or red. And if it were white or red, it was still primarily black.

When I got very close to the special man courting me, his opinion became clear that all the black I wore was depressing and he set out to ease me away from my comfort zone, seeking out colors for the first time. It didn't 'hurt' me at all and it made him smile. I didn't regret adding color in the least.

My Second Life attire has had this solid singular approach to clothing and selection of clothing. Prior to modeling, I either wore R-rated outfits or very ladylike things. Both extremes don't seem to go together but I have always been a lady in public and someone sexy in private.

When I first met Mr. Frolic, I had no real clue about who he was save his reputation. I heard that you either loved him or hated him. I felt sad that there was such a dichotomy of thought on this. I've always been someone who makes a determined effort to define others on my own without influence of others.

One of my first conversations with him came only a few weeks after I began working with Face Paint and his name had come up in conversation with the other models. I knew he engendered many things in others and I wanted to set the tone of our budding relationship in a positive way.

I knew that at some point, I wanted to work for him. I still don't know when that will come to pass, but every time we interacted, I consciously chose to create a connection that I hoped meant something to him while I knew it was meaning something to me.

One of my goals was to get certified by the MVWMA. It had a reputation as being one of the best academies on the grid. It only made sense to approach Mr. Frolic for work after I'd passed the basics test that MVWMA had for everyone who passes through their doors, Mr. Frolic's 105.

It took almost a year, and four attempts, for me to reach my goal. It was only then that I approached him with a desire to work for him. I'd finally made it through the course and now was prepared to contact him personally, offering him my willingness to work for him in some capacity.

One of the words he used to describe me many many times - Safe. This doesn't cut it in 105. I've learned through that experience and life in general since I began modeling. Chantilly lace and a pretty face comes easily or at least more easily to me than edgy, fierce and dark.

Today I share a sexy slinky sweet bit of lingerie, September VIP Gift from Carrie's Linger, and a fierce leather outfit, Euphoria by KL Couture. Neither portray the innocent gentle lady. They push my boundaries. I love the opportunity to do so and when I do, I think of all the wise words I've learned from Mr. Frolic and many other leaders, teachers, model friends, who've encouraged my every step.

You know the type. Negative nillies. It really doesn't matter what's happening in his or her life; life just ends up wrong. Sometimes these negative focused personalities can be a little bit energy hungry, plugging in to anyone who will feed them energy by pausing to buy into whatever the latest tragedy is.

Once in a while, everyone has a rough day or a difficult week. It's wonderful to have friendships that weather the test of time and the ups and downs and curve balls we have to manage. It's definitely more easily accomplished when you have a wonderful support system.

It's when it's chronic that it gets dangerous. It's not healthy for the person who wallows in their own mire of darkness and depression. It's also not healthy for the people around them who attempt to help pull them up and out of the murky mess.

What I find most difficult is letting go, and not making time for any more pain. I want to give chance after chance for someone to heal, to change, to grow into a better person. Eventually, I have to pause and say, "I can't listen to this right now. I haven't got time for the pain." Even typing it here as I think about those times I finally did have to say something similar still makes me feel anxious and worried. I feel responsible.

It's never going to be my nature to turn people away when they come to me. If they come with a defeated attitude, already sure they're a super huge failure, and I've had such discussions with them in the past, I offer a sincere hug, a smile, a bit of 'catching up' talk, then I get busy in my world. I enjoy the part of life that shimmers like a bar of gold and shines like a bit of silver.

Sweet Sweet Victory

Like many of you, I spent the day eagerly watching news, waiting to hear when the second suspect has been apprehended. I have prayed for the families affected by the deadly events that unfolded this week in Boston. I will continue to keep them in my thoughts as I know you will also.

Face Paint owns a piece of my heart by now, and continues to make me smile. This past weekend, I saw a great exaggerated eyes commercial on television and loved the look. I went immediately to Google images and found the photo. I never know when Eve will be inspired, but I love sharing suggestions. She really nailed it! A whole array of colors and combinations will be at Face Paint very soon.

Since it felt like such a big day for families in the US, I chose a basic red white and blue pattern for this photo, showing [[Masoom]]'s Zinia Outfit. It's not easy to just stop thinking about everyone who protects us and the sacrifices they make when they talk about the death of officers, firemen, and so many others.

If you look closely,  you'll see the image of a rose in the background. Roses are symbols of love, but we all know to be aware of the thorns. With the radical fun outfit I have on from {mv} I contrasted hard leather lines and straps with the softness of the rose. I think balance is important, and when life gets out of balance, it takes a while to retrieve it.

When I was growing up, there were all these rules governing how a lady walked and dressed and addressed her elders. My gramma was from the deep south and I don't think she knew we were living in the 20th century. One thing you never do is pair solids with stripes...

Fast forward to fashion now, 21st century fashion, and everyone breaks the fashion taboos of old. This combination of items made me smile as I was piecing them together, because I went all in, and had fun in the process. ~Sassy~ made a darling sweater as one of the items in Winter Fair from them. And the legwarmers with various colored strips comes from [F]uchOn. I pulled them over a pair of brilliantly printed Bliss pants. Beeeeoootiful... and oh so no proper according to gramma, bless her soul.
