A Real Date! - Featuring Carrie's Lingerie

It's very rare for me to go to an event or spend time out with friends when it's not connected in some way to the work I do in Second Life. I miss more than many of you would know the ability to work outside my home. I yearn for those years to be returned to me, or maybe for them to be in my future. For my now, the most useful I can feel comes from work I do online in Second Life. I feel like I make a difference in some small way and that feeds my need to feel like I'm valuable. If I worked outside my home, or even if I volunteered somewhere, I'm sure I would return to using Second Life as a venue for fun, pleasure, playing and people.
That does't mean that I dislike the company of others away from working relationships. By no means! I just put the work I do with blogging and modeling and sharing my two cents when it comes to marketing advice and other ways I touch the fashion industry ahead of other activities. So much so that sweet people tease me about letting my hair down and kicking up some fun. It's gentle natured and always positive so... last night, I took that advice and went out on a date in Second Life. I visited a place JUST for the fun of it with someone who wasn't a client or a sponsor or an event or anything other than a good friend. I have to agree with those who've said I should get out more and enjoy Second Life on the playful side of things. I DID!!
Before this date, I felt so much like a girl, a bit shy, unsure of what to wear, unsure of what he'd enjoy. I knew it wasn't as big a deal as I was making it in my head and heart, but I'm an emotional girl sometimes (mosttt times) and I do look at every small detail in every way possible with regard to anything, and in this case, I wanted it to show that I'd put time and effort into going on said date, so when I met him there, he'd say "Wow, this person made an effort to make me smile!"
Carrie's Lingerie continues to be one of my favorite go to places for sensual, sexy, elegant, refined and just plain beautiful items. You might not realize, based on the name of the store, that gowns and shoes and makeup and other accessories were also a part of the package when shopping at Carrie's. I knew I would wear something from Carrie's but I had to pick it out and I was thrilled to find this incredibly beautiful Burlesque gown in purple. Many of the pieces Carrie creates contain prims, flexible pieces, absolutely artistic layers, but rarely (up to this point) has it included mesh. The mesh skirt for this outfit suited perfectly to the overall look. I had a special newly created curvaceous shape and I was able to find a size that fit the curves.

I think he enjoyed the styling, and overall effect like I hoped he would. It's hard to go wrong with elegantly created lingerie, and with Carrie's, I always find something new and special when I visit. Since I first found "Grace" at a 60L weekend list and went to see about this place called Carrie's Lingerie, I've loved it. You and your special friends might also. It can't hurt to try!

My thanks to each designer who made my outfit a success!

Nothing Gets Between Me and My BSD -- Featuring {{BSD Design Studio}}

There was a Calvin Klein commercial some long time ago that received a lot of negative press, but in the business of fashion and celebrity, any press is good press. Brooke Shields, in her very young years as a model, spoke the line, "Nothing gets between me and my Calvin Kleins."

I broke down and bought a laptop that could see some of the extra graphics features on Second Life recently. It's given me a whole new world to play with, light and texture, shapes and so much more. I could only run on Low, nothing fancy, nothing else. Now I log in and I see snowflakes and particles on fancy pretty flowers.

The lady who creates {{BSD Design Studio}} products creates her own mesh so her shoes are different than they are anywhere else on the grid. I'd been so blessed to be in her blogger group that I've been looking for a while for an idea to really showcase her products. Shoes. Check. Handbag. Check. A bit of jewelry and not much else. Yes and yes.

As every month comes and goes, I find new treats as group gifts offered to the VIP group at Carrie's Lingerie. I think I've more than gotten my money's worth. Another great location for group gifts is Finesmith and everything from great jewelry to unique clothing, she provides a lot of options as well in her group gift each month. It's worth it, if you love a designer, to buy into their special groups.

I Can See Clearly Now -- Featuring Dot-Be Fashion, Zanze and {{BSD Design Studios}}

For the past ten years, I've operated Second Life on a setting that my computer could handle, but it was always on low graphics. Even when I upgraded about 4 years ago, it was still only able to handle minimal graphics. This meant that taking photos and blogging and all the things I learned to love in this fashion industry had to be done in very s-l-o-w motion in order to get most of the settings right.

Now, when I put together an outfit, and stand anywhere in Second Life, the world around me glistens, or snows or has some of these fantastic neon somethings that fly around for no reason other than they're beautiful. Who knew it was snowing on my little corner of land in Second Life? I didn't! (Me just standing on my land pondering...)

I learned how to get those unique light and shadow features to work together and what depth it adds. Again, it's likely a resounding Homer Simpson Doh! but it's what I worked with so long and this, they're infinitely different. I feel like I'm in a Claritin commercial, where I can see clearly now.

Whether I'm hanging out with friends in a casual chic outfit or really donning an avant garde look for something, the way it all works is really different. I have these two short dresses, the top one comes from Dot-Be Fashion and the bottom one comes from Zanze. They have good texture, good lines as always because they're designers who put a lot of effort into getting their product to look 'right'. I also put on another pair of the Giuls heels series from {{BSD Design Studio}} and enjoyed how much better they looked, and they were already tres bon. When I was able to style them in this new landscape of details, with light and shadow, I realized how much more incredible these designers take the cake.

Sex Sizzles at Carrie's Lingerie

There once was a girl who really enjoyed Second Life and all the possibilities seemed endless. In May of 2011, she applied to work as a store model for a really classy lingerie company then anxieties got the best of her. The store manager at the time was remarkable and warm, aware of my anxieties and made me feel at peace with my fears and told me to let her know when I thought I might want to interview. I continued to shop and happily so, for several months following that, at Carrie's Lingerie and get to know the place, the people, the basic process, and details I thought would eventually help me build my confidence to a point I might interview.

When I was hired in August, I embraced this new facet of my Second Life experience with a passion. I'd done other odd jobs along the way, but this was the closest thing I'd found to work that reminded me bygone years where I was healthy enough to work offline. The atmosphere was one of a Sorority of women (with a few handsome men to keep life spicy and interesting) run by a business savvy woman - Carrie Bridger. Had I never stepped into Carrie's that day in 2011, I would not have ended up 2 years later on a path that's a tangent to my current Second Life identity.

This beautiful blue outfit came out this month for June's VIP members. It is a special color of the beloved Obsession designed for VIP members only, and it's even more breathtaking in person! Quality and Carrie's go hand in hand, and whether you visit for a Hunt and are successful in finding the treasure or spend the money, well worth it by far, on each month's Limited Edition, the tasteful and very sensual lingerie reminds me of the notion of "Top Shelf". She doesn't care if it's a hunt give-away or a one of a kind Limited, she puts the energy and beauty into every piece, making sure that ALL Carrie's Lingerie is 'Top Shelf.'

Since my time at Carrie's, I've explored many different businesses, many different things related to fashion, and I still reflect back on my experience at Carrie's as one step towards my overall goals and joy in what I do to this day. I've modeled a little bit of everything, but it all began with a shy girl who was uncertain she could do the job justice in 2011.

Hold on Tight (to your dreams)

I really enjoy it when something in Second Life reminds me that I'm here to have fun some of the time. I work hard at a professional approach and business relationship but on occasion, I just have fun with the playfulness of this place. When Something New sent out a free pose pair, I had to play with it.

I have been using song titles to name my blog posts recently, growing and evolving as a blogger. When I thought of holding on tight, I recalled this song, and it's so aptly applied to Second Life. Persevere. Hold on tight to your dreams. I borrowed a helper here, someone who generously answered my petition to partner pose. In exchange, I took several photos for him and his special someone. I hope they hold on tightly to one another. Thank you Skua Sarrasine.

I don't want to be known as the girl who's always so down to earth and serious! The dress comes from a designer who participates in Designer Showcase, Unique Clothing - Sophie in Red. It includes the dress and the sexy garter and stockings. I also pulled a little treat from the new store .::Joops::. a headband that's showing two tiny red hearts in my hair.

New Face Paint Naomi Smoke, Carrie's VIP and Chop Zuey

Both of these outfits have a great deal in common. Both showcase the VIP items from Carrie's Lingerie January and February. Both display Chop Zuey Black Ice. And both boldly show the skill of Face Paint's creator in this week's new make-up on sale for 55L.

The January VIP outfit from Carrie's has the look of winter, with snowflakes and the cool ivory base color. The intensity of the new Naomi Smoke Face Paint stands out when paired with this lingerie.

Not only does Carrie's offer VIP free gifts, 25% discount on new releases and other special treats, you also have an array of places to take beautiful photographs and these spaces are updated regularly. The background here looks like it was designed to go with my outfit.

This photograph accentuates the beauty of the newest make-up I've gotten from Face Paint and one of the new Chop Zuey sets I have not blogged yet. I still have a few more pieces, and she keeps releasing more must haves!

I love the way the rose has poses that are all over the place. This reminded me of a Maxim add, or something you might find in Sports Illustrated. Both magazines take luscious photos of girls in sexy poses, but they keep their clothes while they do the photo shoot.

If you look closely at this photo, you may notice a different shape. This shape I've named Kim Brook after the stunning UK model who's well endowed naturally. I know that all shapes and sizes look hot in lingerie when it's made well, and I know the new Lola Tango Appliers are important. Hopefully, this shape offers the curvier option for a model shape and a shape that would work well with those appliers. It will be out at Face Paint this week as well for 55L.

Hinako, Rivendell, pulcino, chocolat and Kre-ations in PMVH

Sometimes I think you can tell by just looking at a photo that the person in it is having fun. When I took these two photos of the ensemble I created using a variety of the PMVH items, I had a blast.

The cute pink hair comes from Hinako. You'll see a great set of painted nails in the foreground as well, submitted from pulcino for the hunt. A heart necklace hangs round my throat a treat from Rivendell. The sweater, Lia from chocolat, looked like it was drawn to fit the setting, with the red trees in the background and the sled over to the left. And the tail that hooks around and holds a little lantern topped off this crazy fun look! Hunts always mean you get to taste a little something from the world of fashion around the grid, and expose you to new designers and fun. I took one other photo, and am sharing it, because I've been playing with the artistry of the game and in my paint program.

Carrie's Lingerie: Lina

I've come a long way since my debut as a store model for Carrie's Lingerie. I pulled out the old shape that she and her manager Naughty Princess helped choose for me. I had so many things to learn and working with Carrie and her staff for a little more than 6 months impacted my world in ways I couldn't see then but now in retrospect, I see how valuable it was and how much it's helped to make me who and what I am today.

I loved the job, meeting new people, and the lingerie was beautiful then and even more so with each passing month as the designer improves with each new creation. At Carrie's I had a lot to learn, and my first big 'OOPS' that ended up with a negative parting. I made two serious decisions at that point. First, I realized that my name, as a model, as an assistant, as a friend... my name means something and when I disappointed the staff at Carrie's, I did not represent their name well in that moment, but I also did not represent my name very well. I do not work in the fashion industry to get rich or famous. I do it because I love it. I want people to know me for my good name, not for errors I made along the way. The second decision I made related to that human element of 'explosion' in the face of a problem, and after the explosion passed and the air cleared, I realized I'd let one negative situation blow out of proportion and break bonds that had been building for almost six months. One bad day on anyone's part in six months actually is an awesome track record. If I had it to do all over again, I'd address the issue so differently. As this year, 2012 comes to an end, I reflect back and had to put a Carrie's blog post up so I could reflect on Carrie's Lingerie, Carrie and her staff.

P.S. Ciaobella, I pulled out my old shape that Carrie and Naughty and a few others helped me create, just for you. After we talked last about blogging, I thought your point was correct, and I worked there long enough to know how Carrie liked her clothing modeled. Voluptuous Caryn returned for a cameo appearance. ~smiles~

Oooh, and P.S.S. I still adore the Bax boots you suggested, Naughty. They're still perfect for so many things! Thank you.

EMO-tions: All That You Feel.. Make Every Day a Holiday

Several different hair styles came to EMO-tions this week. The assorted styles run the gamut from the most refined to the wild side.

This first one, called Resolution, looks extremely refined. Pins and combs and what looks like a small tiara come as part of the hair. I think it's supposed to remind me to make my new year's resolutions. Just haven't quite decided what they might be yet.

Starline provides a much different style. I have never had my hair braided like this but when I visited the Bahamas, I met some women who could do such a hair style in a matter of minutes. Our world grows smaller as travel becomes easier. Different heritage, different skin tone, different peoples, they all blend together. To me, it's a wondrous time to live in and observe such blending of societies. So many people across the globe could wear their hair like this. I truly liked the world wide perspective I received when I worked with this new style.

This last style, Anaconda, comes with a huge selection of ways to wear the hair from the twisted updo that's seen in the photo to a very wild and vibrant style that suits the jungles of the Amazon, reminding me of the incredible history of the Amazonian women in a time period where women almost never ruled anything, anyone, anywhere, yet these women did. I will use the Amazon style several times over the next week to show the many ways it might be worn. Needless to say, it's going to be fun!

Carrie's Lingerie: The Senora

Carrie's staff have been promoting the Senora, one of the newest releases at Carrie's Lingerie, as the Senorita all grown up...

I've owned the Senorita for a while, from  back in the days when I worked with Carrie's staff and owned a little bit of everything. I have to agree, the design of the Senora really IS the Senorita all grown up, and I can tell many little details that have improved with the time Carrie Bridger has put into design. Stellar textures have been a staple from the very first Bella garment released, and prim pieces have been added slowly over time to add depth and dimension to the lingerie. Senora offers sculpted pieces, flexible pieces, and system pieces working in unison to make a gorgeous lingerie outfit.

IntimateLife (PondLife Enterprises) Holiday Decor

As the year grows older and slips away from us all, holidays approach with ever increasing speed. In that wonderfully magic way that bowls us over as we prepare for the time with family and friends and all the goodness found in this world, holidays affect us all and IntimateLife (PondLife Enterprises) has many treats to help you celebrate.

We went caroling with friends. The owner of PondLife and two friends of his joined me as we played in the snow, had fun with snowmen and attempted to sing.

The caroling looked less interesting after sharing a few bottles of holiday cheer. (The snowmen set are sold separately. You can get either caroling snowmen or drunk snowmen.)

Indoors, we all sat down to a lovely feast. The options built into the set of dishes and table are multiple. You have a choice of meals, and various props are given to each person sitting after the meal is chosen. This was the turkey dinner option. As many as six guests may join you for a meal.

Cozy and full, I then sat by the fireplace with the owner of PondLife and he prepared a cup of chocolate. There are optional rugs with animations of a G or PG rating, and then there are other rugs that definitely go from G to XXX! Everyone enjoys sharing the holidays in their own special way with their loved ones, and IntimateLife provides means to do so.

As I was preparing to leave, I found myself under the mistletoe. For good luck, I had a quick kiss farewell to the designer. Eladon Galsworthy creates the many different elements that make every holiday great. Mistletoe certainly provides a different sort of fun than those evil Halloween contraptions did!

Bubba John and the Bubbettes  perform Sunday, November 25 at 2 p.m. "Elvis Christmas" to officially kick off the Christmas season. Sales will abound all weekend - for example the cuddle rugs will be 99L for gift/transfer rugs, and 199L for the copy/modify versions.

For My First Challenge... L`accessories

I've psyched myself out of entering contests or challenges over the past months because I tend to look around me everywhere and see ultra smooth, exceptional models. I just have to get over my own fear of rejection and give it my best shot, whatever the 'it' is on any given subject. So... I finally entered a contest sponsored by L`accessories.

More information on the contest HERE

I selected three items, then put them on and took them off over a period of a week perhaps, trying to visualize an end result. The items I had to work with were a red mesh hat, a bow tie with spikes on it, and a pair of gem crusted eyebrows. I repurposed the hat to shoulder pads, then resized the bow tie till it was large enough to cover me decently, and lastly used the gem eyebrow decor as embroidery on the black corset. As it looks like L`accessories plans on doing this contest as an ongoing event, I know I will enjoy participating each month.
