KR (Kim Rongyu), Artistry by ~E~ and Midweek Madness

I've known Kim Rongyu just short of one year and have seen her do just about everything in Second Life related to fashion and the fashion industry, and now she's added one more success. During the final few months of this year's Miss Virtual World contest, a contest for which Kim represented Cyprus as MVCyprus, Kim also opened her own store.

During a conversation about her latest endeavor, she shared several items that were part of her store. The Kepi outfit on the left is all mesh, definitely perfect for a business meeting or interview an the chill of this time of year. The Calista dress had multiple patterns and colors, and this one I chose 'Leaf' reminded me of brighter seasons, spring and summer, and packing to travel to Casa Blanca for a getaway mid-winter to warm up and have fun. The dress certainly suits such an occasion. The deep green/teal long sleeved Bobbi Knit sweater dress is my favorite of the three. I could see me wearing that dress many places, right this minute. I'd download it to my living room if I could!

Poems in the Mists, Houses and Furniture and Elegance by Elysa at Midweek Madness

I didn't pull any outfits from the Midweek Madness program this week because the one that caught my eye has already been blogged for Dot-Be Fashion several weeks ago, Elena Yellow. The first item comes from Poems in the Mist that makes items perfect for Gorean role-play. I happened to have a gown by Arwen that was designed for this role-play so I threw it on and sat down for a chilly evening meal at my new picnic table. The Elves by Houses and Furniture found here: Houses and Furniture SLURL reminded me that there really are not many days now till Christmas arrives. This time next week, we'll be hopeful that elves are on our roof tops helping the biggest elf of all pass out toys to all of us who've been good this year. I 'tried' to be good. Does that count?

Snow globes have the magical ability to bring a special world to you. Dot-Be Fashion and Midweek Madness

Though relatively new to design, the owner and creator at Dot-Be Fashion knows the Second Life fashion world very well and it shows in everything he sells. This week's female item submitted to the Midweek Madness event offers a teasing taste of the skill and fun he brings to his designs.

There are several color tops in addition to the white one shown in the photo. The boots and overalls with one strap loose shows the lighthearted point of view that's often a part of Dot-Be Fashion releases.

Naughty Naughty and Midweek Madness

I don't know how naughty I felt this week with Naughty Naughty's contribution to Midweek Madness, but I did feel lovely.

This outfit came with two very different skirts and a pair of pants as well (not shown in the photo). The pants suit repeated the pattern of the top and jacket layer in sleek skin tight violet. The bell of the ball gown swept sweet whispering secrets as the skirts swished at my ankles, while the soft fur skirt and wrist cuffs added warmth to an otherwise very mini skirt. Elegance by Elysa at Midweek Madness

Thanks to some very thoughtful friends, I've had land recently that covers enough space to allow me to rez some larger structures and review some beautiful items marketed during the Midweek Madness sale event.

This Moroccan build comes from Elegance by Elysa, and at first, when I saw its vendor photo, I did not perceive its size. I put myself in the photo of this unique build so you could see the scale a bit better. It's constructed well with wonderful textures that suit the Moroccan theme very well.

Poems in the Mists at Midweek Madness

Most of the time I blog, I write about fashion in SL, but designers work hard on other artistic means of expression here as well, and it's enjoyable to try a new designer in the field of building (or scripting or otherwise).

I've never seen anything from Poems in the Mists before this week's Midweek Madness sale. The outdoor table would work well at a cafe business setting or in the backyard of a personal residence. This classy little set was well crafted with shadow and detail that made it more believable.

.::Wow::. Skins at Midweek Madness

Wow! WoW is more than just skins. I found their contributions to Midweek Madness this week and one of the boxes contained an entire avatar named Nadia.

It was truly a change for me after using the same skin nearly constantly and the same shape as well for a long while. This package came with the shape, the skin in several versions, three different basic jeans outfits, lashes and jewelry. The skin seen in the photo is the natural or neutral skin. I can wear Face Paint make-up over natural skins. There were other Nadia skins in the pack, however, that were already wearing make-up, so as a new avatar, you're really completely set up without having to invest in much else.

K-K's Designs (and Thunderbolt Designs) at Midweek Madness

I've worked with Thunderbolt Designs in the past, but not with K-K's side of things. I was intrigued by this new (to me) designer at first simply because of the name. Karen is a difficult name to say when you're a baby, something I didn't know till I began having nieces and nephews. On one side of the family, all of the children called me, "Aunt KK" because it was much easier. Amusingly, my only brother had children much later, and when his daughters began to speak, they heard "Aunt KK" and converted it in their own sweet innocence to "Aunt Cake" So... K-K's designs piqued my interest.

It's difficult to get the texture of 'silver' on clothing in SL. I've done enough design work through my years to know how challenging it can be. The dress put out for Midweek Madness' sale event from K-K's designs comes in two different silver versions. I thought they did a terrific job of creating that metallic surface. The dress is reminiscent to me of the cigarette girls in yesteryear, right down to the lopsided cap.

Felicity Shoes have two colors of the Gianna Stiletto on sale this week for Midweek Madness.

I have shoes from all over Second Life, and from as far back as designs that were created in early 2005. It's really rare to find a pair of rose tinted shoes. I've seen a whole plethora of brilliant color variations of red and pink, but rose seems to be more of a challenge. Felicity has a pair of rose and a slate blue pair on sale this week, and I found them both to be unique and useful colors.

AM Designs and Midweek Madness

I like that there are things as well as fashion in the Midweek Madness program. I never know if I'm going to find shrunken heads or a nice table lamp to review, but it's a little different speed than clothing, and always fun.

This waterfall oasis comes with 33 prims, and needs a land footprint of at least 50x50. When I put it down, I was lost in a true sense of the term oasis. The whole world became this beautiful little island, with sounds and serenity for the soul.

VicE and Midweek Madness

Victoria Endersleigh at VicE came up with a new way of selling a gown, or at least it's new to me.

Both the VicE Sakura Gown (with pink cherry blossoms on white) and the Winter Gown with a selection of floral patterns in blue over grey) have the same options. You receive a slim sweetheart neckline, long tube mesh dress. You can see the basic shape around the upper body in the middle picture. There are also flexible pieces added, which add flow and depth to the mesh if you add them to the mesh gown. Or, you can leave off the mesh completely and use the system pieces with the flexible skirt layers, and you've got a different look. If you're not sure about mesh, this is an awesome time to try it, and if you decide you prefer the system pieces, they're right there in the pack for you. You can't lose with this deal set out by VicE for Midweek Madness.

Mimi Noire from the Boho Fair and Felicity from Midweek Madness

I enjoy finding pieces in my inventory that enhance one another. It's like tetris or putting a puzzle together in my head before it's all together an ready for a photograph.

Syrenz Shadows at Midweek Madness

This week I pulled an item from the Midweek Madness sale from Syrenz because it brought back good memories. Nostalgia is like sugar filling in a doughnut, sweet and sweeter.

A very good friend of mine collected Avis that were unique in every extent of what could be done with avi creations in 2005. Things have developed immensely in the world of Second Life and the avis can be so much more complex than those early memories, but I know if he was still in world, still playing, he would love this Cyber Tooth Tyger from Syrenz.
