Halloween Fun -- Featuring Baboom!

I get attached to different people in different ways, which makes sense, as it's not that different online than off line. I get to know people I see more often better than those who's only crossed my path once or twice.

From time to time I have the joy of working with people from all sorts of places in the world where their first language is something other than English and they speak/type English really well in Second Life yet spend a lot of time apologizing for not doing so. One of those neat people is Kyra Camel.

Kyra creates an array of items, from gowns to casual wear, hats and shoes, and when you visit Baboom! you immediately get a sense for the talent of this neat woman. She speaks German as a first language and communicates terrifically well in English too!

Summers can be difficult in Second Life business and this past summer was no different. People go on vaca, they spend time with children who are at home for the summer, and so many diversions distract them (and it's a healthy thing too!!) so they're not as avidly invested in Second Life.

Sometime in late Summer, I spoke briefly with Kyra. She had been working hard, creating all that she sold and sells at Baboom! and was feeling the crunch of summer numbers not being easy and I could tell she was frustrated with it.

This last summer, a number of stores closed their doors. When that happens, the people disperse. Some leave. Some recreate themselves under new names. Some even get new names and then open new stores. I sensed for Kyra though, that this was a make or break time. I'm so glad she chose to make it work another year, and now here we are at the end of October, and she's got this amazingly crafted dress out to entice you to visit and enjoy all things Baboom!

--P.S. Some people have already asked me about the skin. I've been in Second Life a very long time. Many things people created years ago are not useful in this newer, fancier SL, but now and then items in my inventory stand the test of time. The creator 'Wretched Dolls' made outfits suitable to the Lewis Carroll version of Alice in Wonderland, and this skin was one of many items I loved and used from that designer. I don't even know if the store exists, or if the person who made the store successful is in SL at this time.
