Life has this pace that's a little like a heart beat. It pauses, it beats, it pauses, it beats. No matter how fast it's going, it still pauses and then it still beats. Once upon a time, I was active duty Navy. Some of my health issues are a direct result of service during Desert Storm and injury that medically retired me. During my experiences in the Navy, I learned all sorts of cadences. They kept us all in step, so that as we moved, we moved as one unit, one machine, one heart beating.
In the midst of chaos in the world around me, I lose track. I lose focus. A pause, however, often is all it takes to remind me of the basic beat, and most of the time, even if I'm in the wildest tempest, things will just fall into place if I remember life's cadence; it pauses, it beats, it pauses, it beats.
As much as I love dance in Second Life, you'd be amused to know that 90% of the time I'm 'dancing' in Second Life, I have no sound on, so I have no music. It's not so much the dancing then that attracts me to this activity. It must be something else. I'm not particularly sexually charged when I traverse Second Life. Too many other things interest me. Those times I really do want to feel that close to someone, I dance. It's another cadence, another way we measure life's beat.
I have to chuckle though, that I really don't need the music to enjoy the dance. It's more about the person, the intimacy of a special IM, and the gathering of people. Lately, I've been extra blessed to be invited to several new clubs, new places people hang together, and I've noticed that each of these places also have their own pulse. No two clubs are the same any more than two agencies or colleges or kings are the same. Each defines their world, and creates the pace it will be lived.
I fell in love with the designs by A.F.I Designs because of the colors. They're bright and busy but they make sense too. The insane yet wonderful hair from Hairoin seemed like it was made to accompany this dress. They are both unique. It's often said that a true artist marches to his or her own beat. These designers do. And then there are heels that come from {{BSD Design Studios}} that add pizzazz. When someone can make their own mesh, they have the sky as their limit and creativity abounds.
I really appreciate the designers for whom I blog. I have randomly blogged for strangers. I join events like 24 Event or the Bunny Hunt and end up exposed to all sorts of things. Ultimately, sometimes things just fall into place. A little dash of this and a pinch of that, stirred together, the right lighting, the positive spirit and a special cadence that's all your own, and you have looks like no one else. We create our own beat with the elements around us at any given time, and then we march.

Sometimes You Just Have To Be Fierce -- Featuring Hairoin and Carrie's Lingerie
When I took this photo, I wasn't really processing the set up of the photo or why this one time I decided to use a facial emoter HUD. Looking at it today, two days after the shot, I can tell how I was feeling, such a natural emotion too. Anger!
I'm not angry at the designs or the designer. I'm frustrated to the point of anger with life. We all face our dark moments, our demons, the things that could make us or break us, depending how we handle what comes next. I can't blame anyone for where I am in this world currently. For the most part, I keep my chin held high and make it through one day at a time.
In a moment of tongue-in-cheek humor, I created this look on Monday. I loved the Hairoin Philandra. I've loved it since I saw it and knew at some point, I would be inspired on a special style and this was that day. The Bleeping Bunny Hunt and Carrie's Lingerie were paired together and I found this great lingerie the other day as well. It all seemed to work together and yield Fierce!
I take this world one day at a time and I know that I don't have to be quite as fierce as the photo because I have friends and family that make this world just a little easier. I don't have to be fierce because I have you.

On Being a Moon and Not a Sun -- Featuring Evolve, Pure Poison from 24 Event and Warm Animations from 24 Event
We think of the moon as a light source that comes to our aid in the night. There are times that the light is not so great in the tiny sliver of a crescent period, but even that tiny bit of light shimmers and can make the difference between being totally lost in the dark and able to find your way.
All levels of models have been involved this week in the 24 Event. Some have been around a very long time and have earned their classy reputation from time invested and respect earned. Others are newer, like me, "Little Sister Models". I see the radiance of a seasoned model and all I really want to do is reflect on their source of light and learn from it.
Though we perceive the moon as a light source, it really only reflects the brilliant majesty of the sun. The sun seems to disappear for a time, allowing the moon's light to glow. I think there are times when models fit into one of these categories, the sun or the moon, and sadly one other category, that of a black hole that sucks energy and life out of people but thankfully that's a rare and small group.
It's probably that many models who begin their role in Second Life fashion as emulators and reflectors, little glowing moons of enthusiasm will eventually become a sun in their own right. It comes with determination, dedication and a willingness to be patient for the time to come. It's so easy too, to want to have everything happen NOW. But most things that are great are worth waiting for, and whether you're the powerful ball of sun or the reflective glow of the moon, you have your place in this virtual-verse.

Pausing For a Moment In My World -- Featuring Liv-Glam from 24 Event, Baboom!, Pure Poison from 24 Event, and Death Rocker Bettie Crocker at 24 Event
You might find it amusing to know that I have a very hard time being still. It's true on and off line. I work hard at resting. It's one of those sayings that can't really exist, but yet I do. I really work hard at resting. And when I'm in Second Life and I'm at work somewhere, modeling, and things are quiet, I'm immediately looking for some way to use my time constructively and still accomplish my work goals.
Things really haven't been quiet at the 24 Event. Every few moments someone new drops in to shop. I was on pose stand 3 yesterday and on pose stand 2 today. The change of location on the pink sim, where most of the women's wear has its home this week, allows me to pan around and look into all sorts of booths. I can window shop, say hi to new arrivals and have a blast, all the while modeling my Death Rocker Bettie Crocker look.
A whole array of designers are represented at the 24 Event and many of them are designers I've blogged in the past or do currently, or just good friends whom I'm glad to see having good turn out and hopefully excellent sales. Pure Poison has a number of items out and this dress Angela Blue Fantasy is just one of the gorgeous options you'll find there by PP.
You'll feel super spoiled by Liv-Glam if you drop in on their display at 24 Event. There are a wide array of designs at all sorts of prices for so many different purse sizes. Alejandro takes the basic mesh to a fun new level with those sexy cutouts over the left hip. Vavavoom! And the name itself makes me sing the Gaga song by the same name. Ack! It's a good thing.
In the midst of all the fun at 24 Event, some of my favorite designers are releasing new looks for fall, or just because and one of those designers is Kyra Camel from Baboom! The store has moved. If you haven't been by lately, drop in and see what's new and grab a landmark while you're at it.
She's made a set that can be worn with mix and match, two different jackets, one called Eve, and the other called Chess and both go with the skirt Laetitia. At Baboom! you're bound to find a style you enjoy as this designer offers a very versatile array of items for her customers.

I Haven't Got Time For the Pain -- Featuring SAAL from 24 Event, Pure Poison from 24 Event, Evolve and Luziefee
You know the type. Negative nillies. It really doesn't matter what's happening in his or her life; life just ends up wrong. Sometimes these negative focused personalities can be a little bit energy hungry, plugging in to anyone who will feed them energy by pausing to buy into whatever the latest tragedy is.
Once in a while, everyone has a rough day or a difficult week. It's wonderful to have friendships that weather the test of time and the ups and downs and curve balls we have to manage. It's definitely more easily accomplished when you have a wonderful support system.
It's when it's chronic that it gets dangerous. It's not healthy for the person who wallows in their own mire of darkness and depression. It's also not healthy for the people around them who attempt to help pull them up and out of the murky mess.
It's never going to be my nature to turn people away when they come to me. If they come with a defeated attitude, already sure they're a super huge failure, and I've had such discussions with them in the past, I offer a sincere hug, a smile, a bit of 'catching up' talk, then I get busy in my world. I enjoy the part of life that shimmers like a bar of gold and shines like a bit of silver.

What I find most difficult is letting go, and not making time for any more pain. I want to give chance after chance for someone to heal, to change, to grow into a better person. Eventually, I have to pause and say, "I can't listen to this right now. I haven't got time for the pain." Even typing it here as I think about those times I finally did have to say something similar still makes me feel anxious and worried. I feel responsible.

In the Eye Of the Beholder -- Featuring Face Paint, Luziefee and Zanze
There are times where I'm certain I've not quite captured the image I intended. I wander Second Life and look for beautiful settings to enhance the glorious diversity of clothing I get to blog, yet even with all the work, sometimes things don't quite seem to come to the fruition that I sought.
It makes me smile when I have a friend say "I love that..." and they're pointing to a photo that I thought failed miserably. Lately I've realized that there are all sorts of ways to make something work and just because I can't see it through my eyes doesn't mean I haven't conveyed the message to others and their eyes.
Being a perfectionist can be a positive thing. It makes me check and recheck what I do. It also makes me hard on myself. It's good to have rational and real friends who will genuinely say "No no no, that's crap!" if it is crap. They're also trusted enough by me that when I can't see the beauty in the moment and they do, I'm grateful that as they behold it, it is really beautiful.
I recently attended a casting where we had to be short (scoff hahahaha) and only 6-7 feet tall. In a world away from this, 2 years ago when I began working with Carrie, I was 5'2 in world. I've been stretching ever since. I am 5'11" in my world off line and always wanted to be short. So I was short here. Very short it seems. Now I'm extremely tall. And when I put on the shorter avi, I felt strange. It's just another example of how we perceive beauty and behold it.

Pride and Joy -- Featuring 24 Event Items from Snowpaws, {{BSD Design Studio}} ~{PhotoTonic}~, nDisPose Picnic Set
Last week, I was so distressed when my eldest son drove off to his next stage of education, this time his Master's Degree. I realized that my emotions were more extremely affected by this departure because it signified such a huge step away from home.

I never cried when he began kindergarten, when he went to high school for the first time, played in different events at his college or anything else. I was happy for him; I knew he was equipped to handle these life changes. I didn't really worry about his ability to succeed.

Since I'd never really been the sort to cry over the changes life brings, I was shocked at myself and my sadness. I didn't stay blue very long, however. Life is too short to feel depressed over anything. I adjusted to the idea and knew the phrase, "They always come home," gave me me hope.

It dawned on me during the day that followed his departure the reason I got so upset. Every time he's left home, he's had a safety net. As long as he kept his grades high, his basic responsibilities addressed, and respected us, he had his world paid for by parents. With this latest adventure, he lost his safety net.

At 22, it wasn't too soon to cut the strings, the pocket book and all the details that had made his life fairly easily focused on his studies. Even knowing I'd made the right decision and this would help him more than continuing to give him everything he needed, I still worried, and in that worry, I cried.

Creating items in Second Life couldn't possibly have the same level of emotional impact as this story about my son, yet the sense of accomplishment an artist feels when they design something new then sell it and get rave reviews must give them some measure of peace. Snowpaws black Sidora dress, nDisPose's picnic set and ~{PhotoTonic}~ each represent success and I hope they feel that completion and the pride and joy.

Coming Soon -- Featuring {{BSD Design Studio}}, Evolve, Snowpaws and [[Masoom]], Plus 24 Event Information
Every so often, no matter where you are in the world, you probably see a sign or read a news article or find an advertisement for something new coming soon. The idea is to instill in you an interest for this thing you did not have that will now be available to you in such a way that by the time it arrives, you couldn't imagine what you ever did without this new arrival.
It's such a tease sometimes. If I know a new store will arrive soon, I actually develop cravings for whatever it is that store may specialize in to a point where I'm anxious for it's opening! The power of suggestion works mightily. The heels shown here appear at The 24 Event later this month. Look for {{BSD Design Studio}} and you'll find their Supermodel MVW Raw heels.
This pretty little dress, the Mendola from Evolve, arrived in the store this week, and it reminds me of more innocent times. It's bright colors catch the eye and add a radiance to the room. This item remains on sale as well as part of the 60L weekend sale, so you don't have to anticipate its arrival. It's there already!
Lingerie fluttered to my feet all around me this month. Items like this Afra Lingerie, a golden little bit of satin from [[Masoom]] joined with other seductive pieces and made me chuckle. I visit different sims and enjoy the photo studios as well as live sets, from Model's Workshop, Image Essentials and more recently from The Creative Loft.
The reason it made me chuckle, well.. as you can see, the top does not really cover the upper body bits. Lingerie should titillate and entice, and this little gold number definitely does so. I was going to try to find a little pose to the side or add a cover so it wasn't quite as bold, but then it loses effectiveness. Over the next few weeks, I think I will lose all sense of modesty. Some of you probably think that's not such a bad thing either!
Several of the designers I work with have items that are prepared just for you at the 24 Event. This dress Pisia dress from Snowpaws is an example of that coming soon enticement. Carrie Snowpaw continues to make flirtatious fun clothing and blends a great mesh with the flutter of flexi material.
I have more pieces from the 24 Event as the week unfolds ahead, and will share them with you as often as I can. It will run August 23 - August 31. You'll find designers from all over the grid with great items prepared just for this event.

Light Always Conquers Darkness and There Is Something Beautiful In Each Of You - Featuring Hairoin, KL Couture, and Evolve
This morning I woke to read of sadness and pain one person has created for a group of friends of mine, co-workers, and people I respect. I don't take a lot of things personally online. I've had people telling me for 15 years since I first discovered this internet, that I needed to grow a thick skin. I developed it over time, that thick skin, and it does help. Sadly, it does not help when someone I care for gets hurt.
I want to defend, to encourage, to love them back to health, when a friend is not doing well. If you're hurting, it hurts me. If you're crying, I feel your tears. If you're bullied by someone who chooses those moments in life where you're weak and feeling lost, I'm going to stand by you and show you the many reasons the bully knew nothing, and completely erred in their attempt to prove to you that you lacked value. Everyone has value in my eyes.
I do not have the strength of a super-hero. I do not have the tenacity of a pit bull. I do have a gentle heart, and I do care. I do believe light and positive energy always overcomes the darkness. Isn't there a saying that in the dead of night, a single match's light can be seen for a hundred miles? This also finds truth in the metaphysical world of positive energy vs. negative energy. For every cruel and cutting thing a bully says to harass you, I hope you find a thousand warm and beautiful things to douse that bullying energy.
I can't tell you that the pain doesn't hurt or that you shouldn't listen. When I'm at my weakest, the pain of emotional tearing does hurt and I do listen. Thankfully, I have a shared group of friends who have my back on those darker days. I couldn't handle this life alone, on any front, the net, off line, anywhere. I'm a social creature who needs each person in my life. Each person makes an impact and each of you matters. There is something special in each of you.
I champion those who try. I encourage those who do not give up and I am thrilled to have an array of people in my world who offer the same to me. I see the good in every soul. I want to help where I can, live and grow in what I love and pour out to you the best parts of me. I enjoy the artistry of the internet, but behind the pixels of beauty, like these two outfits created by two clever women for two different businesses, there are people. Every pixel matters when attempting to set up a canvas, whether it's a canvas on which you paint landscapes or one where you draw avatar parts. Every pixel represents a heart, a hope, an idea and someONE who matters. That's why I do what I do here, on my blog. I want to celebrate the pixels, the successes, and most of all, I want to celebrate each ONE of you who works behind the pixels.

I'd Rather Be Inspired Than Copy -- Featuring Sensuelle
There are few things in life that can only be accomplished one way. As I sat here preparing my thoughts for this blog, I couldn't think of a single example but I'm sure there may be one or two. I've learned that the word always and the word never are dangerous assumptions. That being said, there are a lot of people who believe that many things in life can only be done one way. It's rampant in every sector.
If you think about it, it's part of educational systems, magazine production, the process of fishing and so many random things. Your country, your town, your family... you may have this specific way passed down from generation to generation. That's great. It's one way to learn. My town may be completely different. You catch fits with nets in large trawlers. We go down to a fishin` hole and tuck a piece of grass in our teeth, fall asleep in the sun and call it fishing.
I appreciate the value of learning a way to do this thing or that. I observe, take notes, study, whatever it takes to gain insight to do this thing before I try it. But when I finally get my hands dirty and I'm setting my own plans, I may mix it up a bit. I may try new things. I may be inspired in a moment. I know that those people who taught me this certain way of fishin` were sure it was the 'right' way. Some may even claim it's the only way and I'm just too silly to realize it. But personally, I'd rather be inspired than copy anyone.
I haven't had the privilege of blogging Sensuelle. The quality of the work is top notch. The designer has created believable textures for both lingerie sets. You'll find layers in many options. Seams line up admirably. And it doesn't hurt that it's sexy and slinky and makes me want to prowl! Thank you, Sensuelle. I'm in trouble...

I Don't Always Believe... Featuring A.F.I Designs
I have insomnia this week. It's something that comes part and parcel with the change in my status physically, and on that note, its AMAZINGGG. Whatever those new docs did two weeks ago in my micro-surgery helped. I have been pain free for almost 10 days. When I don't have pain, I don't need medication. This also is AMAZINGGG! Lack of sleep seems a small price to pay.
So I was up at 4 a.m. this morning, trying my best to distract myself and enjoy what I love most online, a bit of Disney Girl with a healthy dose of Second Life modeling/fashion/blogging. While I was practicing on a runway gym, I saw a notice pop up for this awesome company I'd not ever known but thought looked terrific. I spoke to the designer behind the name, a very industrious woman who shared some of her expectations and successes.
By the time she added me to her blogger group, I felt a sense of 'out of my league.' I have a healthy respect for the process any new endeavor takes to learn, a good self-esteem, and an understanding that I'm better at what I do than I was yesterday and I know I'll be better than that tomorrow. I learn from those who walked in this path prior to my journey. I try to share with those who are stepping in that path behind me. It's a joy to me and most of the time, I simply believe in myself.
This was one of those moments of doubt. I didn't have all the criteria to meet the expectations. I do have drive, passion and ambition to reach for those expectations with all that's within me. I want to learn and live up to the challenge. I had one of those knots in my throat, not quite able to swallow. I found it was there as we talked and later as I styled this first item she sent to me, this Ice Tiger Dress. What a first piece to wear it is too!
She made a decision to let me try this, and share her designs on my little corner of the web. I find the dress inspiring. I find the designer inspiring. I don't always believe. I have moments of doubt. I do my best and reach for the stars. I appreciate DJ A.F.I (ladigirl). I know that for the next little while, whatever the length of our season where we get to walk this journey together, I am the fortunate one. Thank you for the opportunity.

Leavin` On a Jet Plane... Featuring Evolve, {{BSD Design Studio}}, Hairoin and Dot-Be Fashion
I love the way BabyChampagne showcases her interests and investment in Second Life. I know how much work she puts into creating her own mesh and her shoes are divine. I also know that she's a builder and makes an array of items that you might know less about here. The trunks here reminded me of the year I went off to college and tomorrow my son heads off to grad school. Trunks make me think of trips, and magical journeys. Enjoy {{BSD Design Studio at the Black Fair}} and find your own adventure.
When I went in to work today at Evolve, I found this sign. It excited me as I'm still building my Evolve collection. I can't wear the same dress to work every day! With just a bit of Inspector Cluseau in me, I went through the first level of the store and found several items marked down, maybe more than 2. Just sayin. And I haven't even been upstairs yet. Many of Ms. Reign's new releases are up there, and who knows what she'll do with them as summer comes to an end.
A leopard never loses its spots. I think that means that internally, no matter how we Evolve, at our core, our personality remains the same through our life. I hope that in my evolution, the good parts grow and I slough off the not so good parts. This dress, with the unique keyhole at the chest reveals just the tops of each nipple, reminding me of Elizabethan court clothing. Sexy, enticing, and always beautiful. I really enjoy black and white without color both on and off line, so this dress Ink Spot at Evolve suits my tastes perfectly.
This week, I began working with a woman who's been creating hair for 7 years but I've never met her. I stumbled on her store and found it quite an eyeful. Everywhere I looked, there were fabulous designs, clever pieces of art, and a smattering of what we might define as everyday hair. This design was the first one that caught my eye. Though it's all hair, it's crafted in a way that looks like I'm wearing a hat. How clever, right? You will see into the world through her eyes as the weeks and months unfold. I see in her work everything from the Avant Garde to the Casual, with colors suited for runway and role-play. You'll have fun there!
Boniefacio went with an end of summer casual look for his August gift at Dot-Be Fashion. The tank is loose and shorts over longer pockets a great way to design cutoffs, very realistic. That's what mine always did during the summer! I put a pair of shades on, and found a spot under and umbrella. The beach was secluded. I could almost hear the ocean in my spirit.
Here is one more look at the Chapeau hair by Hairoin as well. You can see how it dresses up or down, to suit whatever mood you're creating with your favorite clothing. With the sun setting and the light just right, the hair looked perfectly textured to reflect that magic golden hue. My future's so bright, I gotta wear shades!
